Human mind has always lusted for money and more things and comfort in life. Greed and lust is human nature and not only in humans but also in animals. I have seen one dog I was feeding him biscuits and he kept eating and eating and eating till I stopped because I didn't want him to get blasted. All living organism needs more of everything and hence humans have gambled since ages as the lust to have more money in seconds is very amazing to them!

Upon reading this post, I just realize how much I did not pay attention with these things. Thank you for posting these facts! I am really curious about the affiliation of the church and religions with gambling since the teachings are against it tho.
I was surprised to see that fact too. The possibility is that due to the donations that the church is getting through gamblers or from the casinos, they have no choice but to support it. They benefit from the donations and then they are also giving the benefit the donators from that money. It's just a speculation of mine as it's also happening today. They might be against to it but there is a tendency that they do accept money that comes from gambling.

I think up until now, there are churches who are still accepting donations from lotteries/gambling. Sometimes they need to, in order to finance their maintenance. On the side note, I don't know about a lot of things in the OP's list and it is really amazing to know those facts. But I can say gambling is one of the ancient games that humanity has. It only changes its form and way of playing, but the gambling idea is always there.

This topic is very entertaining in my opinion, even though it is quite a long list of gambling facts mentioned in the opening post.
But it's really worth reading, and it's also really a mind blown of the facts. What surprised me, was a lot people who are really
lucky in the world of gambling, this fact slightly changes the way I see the world of gambling.

Yes. He took a lot of effort. Honestly I really found his thread interesting that's why I gave him merit. Getting all these facts needed a lot of time but he manage to get all of this and make a thread. So kudos to the OP. I hope as time passes by this thread will add some more facts about gambling, reading a post like this help my mind rest for losing money today.

24, 28, 34 and 44 are very funny! This facts are mind blown indeed.
Even monkeys will pay for sexual pleasures.
Well we still have the idea that we, humans might be just a monkey evolution coz of all the animals we are mostly alike to monkeys in terms of appearance and some bone structures.

I've read a same story like the no. 34, but it is quite different coz he's not part of any syndicate at all. He won the lottery, he bets all the combination, instructed people to distribute the combinations and won around 10% of what he spent, then he gave his people their part. I forgot the whole story but it goes like that.

44 is very funny, but man if someone teases me with $100,000 to do that I'll definitely do it  Grin lol

Some of the facts are actually unreliable  Grin Grin and I can't believe that is true.

Oh my, a male having breast implants? probably if he doesn't have a lot of money or doesn't have a good job that could sustain him there is a high chance that he is going to accept that bet. $100,000 is a big money but if you probably think that in the way you could earn that amount soon you might not accept that bet for sure.

This is just amazing. The best way to describe gambling here is that line about Mansour Bahrami. I love trivias and interesting facts. I found this fact in the past and kept it in my sticky notes, I don't know, after watching The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, it just made me smile.

I am seriously a fun of facts about many things in the world and it was pretty awesome to know the facts that the OP have provided ever since the early history of gambling games. I indeed read entirely the whole facts and what I can say is that they are really mind blowing to know such facts for I have been playing gambling for quite some time and those facts that I have read although they were just easy to surf in the internet still surprises me and it was kind of fun knowing those. For me I would consider this as Fun Facts about Gambling for this really gains my interest upon reading the subject and a lot more fun reading the content itself. I would surely get back into this thread while the OP keeps on updating the facts about gambling for I want to know more.

35. A gambler named Archie Karas went to Las Vegas with $50, gambled it up to $40 million over the next two years, only to lose it all in three weeks.

Shoook. This bring back my bad memories in gambling. I remember last 2017 when I have bunch of BTC that I accumulate on ICO,Bounty, and P2P trading for almost a year then I decided to try leverage trading, SInce I'm newbie on trading that time, x100 leverage is not a big deal to so I first try using small amount, Luckily I have profit 100% but after my second try during that same day too, I all-in my asset and got liquidated in just an hour. That time I was busy on my paper works at my desk that's why I didn't monitor my trading. I feel devasted and almost quit crypto currency. Right now I recover my loss after I do research and enroll in bunch of trading class.

After that, I never take too much risk even though I have a lot of asset that can afford to lose. Lesson learned.  Wink

It's entertaining to read this thread since imagine those mind blowing facts really exist and have supporting articles in the web.

15. President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe won 100,000 Zimbabwean dollars (that is US$2,600 at the time) in a lottery in 2000. He is the only modern Head of State who won the lottery. Source

This sounds very strange because Zimbabwe had a huge problem with corruption. I would take such statements with a grain of salt if he really won this or it was just fixed. Zimbabwe is rank 160th out of 180 countries in the International Corruption Perceptions Index. I think we will never know if this winning was legit.

Strange but he can able to play with the money whether it came from good or in corruption but lets not link the winning on their corrupt practices since it will be a different talks and need a proper thread for that things.

I find some facts really interesting and fun as well because of the story behind it. While some are already familiar to me, but most of it was new and it's nice to read random facts about gambling. Thanks for sharing this list of information OP. But what's really interesting is how some of these people are really lucky to win a huge amount of money
  • President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe won 100,000 Zimbabwean dollars (that is US$2,600 at the time) in a lottery in 2000. He is the only modern Head of State who won the lottery. Source

  • The largest slot jackpot win was in Vegas in 2003. A 25-year-old engineer hit a $39,710,826.36 jackpot on the Megabucks machine, beating odds of about 17 million to one. Source
  • A wife bought a scratch-off lottery ticket to prove a point to her husband that it was a waste of money, but it ended up winning her $1 million. Source
  • A British gambler sold all of his possessions, including all of his clothes, and bet $135,300 on red for a single spin of a roulette wheel in Las Vegas and won. Source
I still really get amused every time I hear or read stories about some lucky gamblers who won huge money because that's like a once in a lifetime experience.

Bro, that wife proving his husband is really funny.

Very interesting facts that I've read. Also, another one that proves how casinos want to keep their customers in their premises in order to get more money from them, that's amazing. Great read, having a bad day and this ends that cloudy day. Will continue reading and following this thread. Keep it coming, keep us entertaining and keep it more interesting.

Thanks for the collecting all the info, some of them I know, but majority I heard it for the first time, still up to this day, this kind of gambling facts doesn't die and it's going to be part of the gambling future. Specially those who won against huge odds, and that's what makes gambling really interesting.

@jademaxsuy - I'm not aware that the Philippine priest (Friar) was the instigator, maybe they are the one who spread cock-fighting in the Philippines.  Smiley

This is an interesting topic and some facts were unknown OP from the points you had posted it. It’s good to know about gambling and what is the history and the chances as well. Something like Zimbabwe president, FedEx CEO making the money from gambling and paying the fuel bill. Some are worth reading.

5) In the past, the Catholic and Judaic priests supported gambling. Source

This fact got me thinking since yesterday; if the priest among others where involved in gambling(like what we do today): what happened when they decided to turned against what they used to built their worship palaces?. Could that be Pentecostals churches where or are responsible for this obstruction alongside the Islam?.

Personally, as a Christian, I decided to get involved into gambling because I believed it does no harm to my believed towards the divinity's. This fact has just made my day: I won't bent towards hypocrisy.
