The next best thing (in terms of prices of course - nobody has seen products to factor in quality) is the alpha technologies Viper miner selling at 5.540 GBP (about 6.700 EU).
This translates to 27 Euro / MHs for a single Viper unit at 250MHs.
I may be missing some new competitor, of course, but the Excalibur offer comes at 22 Euro/MHs with the added benefit of getting TWO units so you can split mine or lower the risk of a single unit malfunction.
This to me is "too good to be true" and the reason why I wanted to visit Mining ASICs at CEBE.
A little background. I've been following these guys closely since they first made their announcement.
After doing a lot of due diligence of the individuals involved in the company before I decided to get in early and pre order a 125 MH unit.
About two weeks after I made my pre-order KNC announced they would be doubling their hash rates.
Mining-asics responded with a 2 for 1 promotion.
for me it all boils down to hash/$ and at $44/MH with their 2 x 125 offer it's simply incredible.
I know prices will continue to fall but we have yet to break the $100/MH barrier so waiting till the end of July or beginning of August is something I can live with at those prices.
besides - I'm already working with 164/mh right now.
I've had numerous conversations with Marc from Mining Asics and he has shared development progress with me and also how long it takes for certain things to happen development and manufacturing wise. I'm not a spring chicken and over the years I think I've become a fairly astute judge of character and I'm confident they'll deliver a quality product. In summary he's been totally transparent except in certain instances where an NDA prohibited him.
So - now I'm getting two 125MH units for the price of one. As it relates to "too good to be true" I'm not sure what you refer to to... 125 MH in a box (easily attainable since the Chinese are already pushing 90mh with Insilicon chips - I know I own an 85 MH unit) or the two for one promotion?
regardless - I know that KNC is their primary competitor in this arean right now although there's a british company that says they'll have a 250 MH unit out in July.
Personally - I do NOT WANT a 250mh asic miner. a 250 MH unit limits you to either dodge or ltc - no other coins can handle that kind of hash. I like to mine to new releases and the last thing you want to do is cripple you own ability to mine by blowing up network hash and attracting a lot of attention from multi-pools.
the entire concept of men with proven business backgrounds going to lengths like this to scam people is preposterous in my mind...especially when I know they're working on their miners and will deliver in the time frame promised. I know their schedules and what's to be done - because they've shared it all with me in conversations.
but - hey - we all make our own decisions and the best we can do if get a comfort level we can live with. I think choosing Minin asics over KNC was the right choice for me personally.
