Guess, I can be grateful that the exchanges were frozen so that I was unable to withdrawal my BTC. My wife would have killed me.

I would be willing to bet that the perpetrators are not even Chinese or in China. My money is on this being one of many scams pulled by the usual suspects.

As you can see, I was pretty insistent on trying to stop this scam. Sorry for those who lost coins - a newbie running a group buy (however convincing) should have been a BIG warning...

I don't think he was Chinese either. At times he pretended to write unclear English and at other times he was real proficient and articulate with his writing.
