No need to bootstrap. It tempts me to put on tinfoil hat when wondering about whether some barriers to entry are not tackled intentionally, but that is always denied with sound logic.

Monero is a good coin. I most of all like anonymity in it. I think that it is worth investing..
Monero is cash for a connected world. It’s fast, private, and secure. With Monero, you are your own bank. You can spend safely, knowing that others cannot see your balances or track your activity.

These types of tutorials can be very informative and helpful for others that are coming at the problem with a similar level of knowledge.

As long as you are getting any incoming connections it means the port is unblocked and there isn't much more you can do other than wait.

Hi!
Is it possible to convert a 106 character address into 95 character (with paymentId)?
I can't transfer XMR between exchanges, because the one exchange don't support 106 address when withdrawal (
A word of warning.
You don't want to send xmr between exchanges.
If something goes wrong with the transaction then you will have a problem.
Withdraw from one exchange to your wallet and then deposit to the other exchange from your wallet.
This is a double risk and a double commission.
if I make a mistake - I will lose coins.
if the exchange make a mistake - I will have the opportunity to return my coins.

Can someone please quickly tell me which wallet files I need to back up before I overwrite / install a new UI wallet version? I'm on Windows 10.

I believe in Windows it is under documents/Monero.

Just make sure you have the 25 words seed and you are fine:
https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3542/how-to-back-up-my-wallet-using-monero-core-gui-beta
Ok thanks, I downloaded and extracted the newest version of the UI into the existing folder. That worked perfectly!

I am a bit concerned with the recent amount of bad nodes. My node is constantly hopping from the one longest chain to the other, once already causing the block height to be completely stuck (had to sync from scratch again). Should I just be patient and let the node slowly auto-blacklist the malicious ones, or are there alternative options sticking to the main Monero chain?
That's what I'd like to know.

Is there a way to completely disable the ZeroMQ RPC server functionality on 0.12.0.0.0? I'm on Windows and running into the following issue that crashes the daemon (trying to troubleshoot it): https://github.com/monero-project/monero/issues/3540
