Pretty sure they are lost in cyberspace, which only means MOON is more valuable since that debacle.  Hopefully all of them get their money back.  Moon has really taken a beating it seems from that cryptsy stuff, but still holding stong.

Vernon is going to the moon with our moon coins lol
Alt coin market cap is up only 25 billion since cryptsy went kaput... Roll Eyes

You're misinformed.
Vernon's MOON addresses (top 2 seen in block explorers, almost a half of supply)
are unspendable after the fork in March.

just wondering, so what happened to those unspendable mooncoins? are they burned forever? if yes, whats the total supply now?

Does anyone happen to know what is causing Mooncoind to be so CPU hungry on Ubuntu? I remember the old version having similar problems a few years ago. It keeps spiking above 50% or higher, already tried setting stuff like maxconnections to 10 but nothing seems to help. I have other daemons running that stay well below 1% CPU load. I had it running for several hours and it's fully synced.

Ranked 50th currently on coinmarketcap.com guys!! As I do my daily internet viewing you know what mockery I've witnessed?Huh The Bitcoin community saying what??? "2 the Moon!!!" , NEM "2 the Moon!!!" Dogecoin "2 the Moon!!!" and many more saying that. But I think to myself..."Why"..., I haven't found a clear answer. Why is that??? and then it hits me!!!. Because there is only 1 coin that fits the slogan, and that's the "MOONCOIN" 2 THE MOON Hahaha!!! Just wanted to have some fun and share that guys  Cheesy

That is a pretty nice observation, mate. The Dogecoin and most altcoins have a slogan of "to the moon" making an indirect reference to Mooncoin itself. With its nice community, and good dev behind it, I have the feeling that it will really get to the moon someday, reaching up new heights in price.

By the way, I think that both DOGE and MOON would make a great duo where one could be used for tipping others while the other could serve its purpose for smart likes. The possibilities are endless. Just sharing my thoughts.  Grin

I totally agree !! I think a pretty good deal of Dogecoin and Mooncoin supporters understand that Moon & Doge make a great pair "Both Ways", which is why I'm surprised that the MOON/DOGE Market has actually went down !!! After buy Mooncoin with Doge, what is the next step, well that should be easy, buy Dogecoin with Moon !!! I've been doing that and earning great interest of it strategy !!! Not many coins have such an option !!!
MOONCOIN HAS BEEN AROUND THE CRYPTO SPACE FOR AT LEAST 3YRS. I THINK THIS COIN SHOULD RISE IN VALUE TO JOIN THE ETHEREUM, LITECOIN, DASH COMPETITION... WHEN MOONCOIN HIT $1

Mooncoin at Bitcointalk
Noteworthy is that 11.9 BTC of moons was bought in a single order yesterday on Bluetrade.

I noticed there are gaps of long periods of time sometimes between found blocks. Is this just the block explorers or is this actually the case? What can be done to resolve this?

It's difficult to solve some blocks and it takes time.
Listing at big exchanges = more miners and more hashpower.

A good thing though that pauses between blocks lead to lower inflation,
only 3-5 million MOON are produced per day currently by all miners combined.

And Mooncoin uses DigiShield to defend small miners, it also can lead to pauses between blocks from time to time.

If you deposit MOON to exchanges,
time of arrival depends on how many confirmations the exchange set, not on Mooncoin itself.

Mooncoin at Bitcointalk
The Mooncoin 24h volume today is $47000.
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mooncoin

Not bad, taking into account that big exchanges haven't listed MOON yet.
Small exchanges that have MOON listed are now rewarded for that, they receive good fees on a daily basis.

When you say "yet", do you mean that there are plans on listing moon on more exchanges? Paying the fee on cryptopia or adding to to c-cex poll shouldn't be an issue

Mooncoin is already listed at 4 exchanges, but they are not very big to match the demand.
We are waiting for Bittrex.
One of the oldest Mooncoin supporters agswinner told that they promised somewhen in 2015 to list MOON in the future when it's traded for BTC.
(In 2015 Mooncoin was traded only at sub-satoshi markets).

The 24 h MOON/BTC volume currently is about $15000 and yesterday was about $30000.

If Mooncoin is listed at Bittrex, you understand that the price of 1Satoshi will look like a joke. With Bittrex volume very likely it will not take a lot of time to eat these 1-2-3... Sat walls if they appear.

I noticed there's no makefile.unix in the src any longer to compile mooncoind, is there a way to run a QT version from the commandline in Ubuntu ?

Have you tried makefile without the *.unix-extension?
In https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin/tree/master/src there is a Makefile

Just gave that a try, doesn't work unfortunately.

Found the answer, just compiled using QT4 and used configure --without-gui, that gave me the Mooncoind I needed  Grin It's syncing now so I can add MOON to my pool soon.

Did not work?
See here: https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin/issues/2

./autogen.sh
./configure --disable-wallet (if the wallet is not needed, for example on a P2Pool-node)
make -f Makefile USE_UPNP=- USE_IPV6=- USE_QRCODE=-

Worked for me on several Debian-/Ubuntu-instances.

James (Barrysty1e) should add an instruction to the new GitHub-repository on how to compile correctly, like it can be seen in the old reps:
https://github.com/mooncoin-project/mooncoin-landann (gjhiggins)
https://github.com/realmooncoin/mooncoin (deaconboogie - the original dev)
(scroll down to "How to build Mooncoin")

James? Please add that to the new repository's first page. Thanks.

What to keep in mind is, that he changed the original folder structure */mooncoin/* to */Mooncoin/* (capital M).
So folder .mooncoin is now .Mooncoin on a Linux-system, for example. That complicates it a little bit, because you need to mv something, but is no big deal, if you know it.

See this also on how the P2Pool-thingy cleared up finally, in order to get the full picture: https://github.com/mooncoindev/mooncoin/issues/3

You probably missed my last line, I got it running  Grin

Did not miss it, but it seemed like you found another way to make it run. If so, would you mind to post the exact steps, so others can follow them, if needed? That would be great.

In the past I used to run GCC compiler using makefile.unix. Since this file was not present I assumed Mooncoind would not be compiled using QT, but it is. Just ran:

./autogen.sh
./configure --without-gui
make

That's it.

By the way, looking at my processes on Ubuntu I noticed Mooncoind is using a lot of CPU compared to other coins running on my server. That might be an issue.

Great, after adding Mooncoin you are welcome to post a link to your pool in this thread, and your pool will be added to the OP.
