There is a difference between a gambler and a gambling addict. It's not actually bad to talk to a gambler about bitcoin investment. But not to a gambling addict, because gambling addicts are impatient and unpredictable, they don't have the time to wait for their Bitcoin investment to yield meaningful returns. Some of them go as far as selling their personal properties just to gamble, so how do you expect such a person to be a Bitcoin investor? An addict might wake up one money, withdraw his investment and use it to gamble. It is only when the person has genuinely repented and turned from his ways, then can talking about bitcoin investment makes sense.

Buying bitcoins, and HODLing it is no fun. You have to restrict and hold back yourself from many financial temptations and wants that will want you to spend. It can even get boring unlike gambling, that is all fun even though people loose money from it. It will be easier to tell a gambling addict to try to also have some investments in bitcoins while they gamble, than telling them never to gamble again but then start focusing on only investing in bitcoins.

I don't think bitcoin is a good coin to gamble with. The price of Bitcoin is not volatile as other altcoins, so you might not make money within a short period. Gamblers are motivated by quick money and bitcoin hardly gives such an opportunity. To make money from bitcoin, you have to hold the coin for some time until the price goes up. Addiction is not good behavior, so I don't even encourage anyone to be addicted to even investing in bitcoin. Bitcointalk is a good place to get information about Bitcoin but you should also do your research from other sources.

Even as an altcoin gambler, there should be self-control. Advising Op to switch to altcoin is a good one but helping him to control his drive from quick money will be better.

Gamblers require quick money, which they cannot obtain through Bitcoin investment because the market is unpredictable.
To benefit from Bitcoin investment, one must hold it for an extended amount of time before selling it, whereas gamblers cannot wait so long to make money, so they cannot hang on to their Bitcoin investment.
If they really want a large return on investment in a short period of time, I believe Altcoins and some shitcoins may be a viable option for them to gamble on.

Not just Bitcoin but also altcoins too, I am a gambler, I am into mostly Roulette and Slots but I have made much more money from altcoin investments between the 2022 bear market till now, and what I've made from gambling is not even close to half of what I've made from few altcoins so far, I think OP is right, if you can gamble with altcoins you will make more money than gambling but we all like having fun in different ways so I am in no way going to discourage anyone not to gamble, there is money in gambling too if you are lucky.

To be honest, this good idea, if they bought Bitcoin to use it for gambling, they should just keep it and not touch or use it for gambling. It's kinda related to saving fiat currency and not touching it or use for gambling.

I think he's talking about the gambling addicts for the physical casinos that accept fiat payments only and don't have idea about bitcoin or crypto.But there are many crypto casinos these days but those who are addicted to it already know they can invest that money but they can't control themselves.Investing needs patience to get to the actual profits but they are interested in gambling more to make fast profits even after they are losing money.We can try to motivate them but they also need strong mind to support themselves.

I beg to differ, this is easier said than done...investments are not an easy undertaking...people can have problems along the way that needs an immediate address and they can cash out these investments to sort out such issues, or price volatility can make one to bailout and try something else as profits won't be seen immediately... tbh investments arent meant for everyone !

Look at the what you said "addicted gambler" an addict are will always be carried away with his gambling activities and will use whatever kind of funds that he has fiat or cryptocurrency to gamble just to satisfy his emotion by chasing his loss. I have read of a forum member who out of boredom decided to kill time with gambling and before he knew it,he was unable to control himself and used all his bitcoin for gambling which he came here and tell us about his actions. This is how it will also happen to a gambler who is introduced to crypto,online casinos has made it easy for him to enjoy his gambling activities because they use cryptocurrency for gambling. It is hard for someone who is not a gambler to be able to hold his bitcoin investment portfolio for long,because that person is not used to savings or didn't plan a good strategy to enable him hold for long. Talk more of an addicted gambler.

Gambling addicts don't invest. If you give them money or crypto, they will just spend it in the casino.
Gambling addiction is a serious issue, which needs long term treatment and help from friends and family.
Thinking that you could miraculously cure gambling addicts by teaching them how to invest is simply delusional.
Bitcoin is NOT a way to earn money. Bitcoin is a financial asset/currency. I guess that you are talking about finding a job in the cryptocurrency industry as a way to earn money. I will have to disappoint you, but most gambling addicts don't have good skills and qualifications and no employer in the world would hire a person, that has an addiction.

People who love gambling often like to risk their money. They care about the here and now. I doubt that you will find a gambler who is willing to wait several years to make a profit. On the other hand, Bitcoin lovers in general are people who know how to plan their actions, and I think that they are completely different in their type of temperament from gamblers. But of course, in both cases, there is a risk, but it is better when the risk is justified and people approach it with their own strategy.

I don't think your idea is something that could work: people who gamble all the time have a serious problem, it's actually an addiction, they do it because they need to in a certain way. Bitcoin is not gambling, there is a lot of study behind it and I don't think that someone who likes to gamble would actually care to learn about bitcoin, it's too much work.

Gamblers, mostly those gambling addicts, all they want is to gamble; for sure, they don't want to invest in bitcoin, even though they know it. Some gamblers use Bitcoin as their payment method to gamble on specific websites. Well that's a good proposition but don't expect gamblers to quit gambling just because they have invested in Bitcoin. Gambling is a habit which forms an addiction. Just like cigarette is smoked when the body needs nicotine. Similarly, gamers need adrenaline rush, it's not always about making money. So investing in Bitcoin can't keep them away from gambling in any way. So they will have to take it as an investment which may fetch them some income when the time is right. Don't expect anything else.

Gambling addicts usually don’t have the patience to make an investment. These people gamble because they wants to see the results immediately. Bitcoin may return great profits in a year or two but these people can’t wait that long. At best they can wait a week or a month but we all know that making an investment doesn’t work that way. Investors wait year, sometimes decades to get a meaningful return on their investments. I don’t see gamblers having that kind of patience.
