It seems the location I posted earlier in this thread for the F1 has been changed.

I posted Barcelona as the location for the test but now sites are reporting Shakir as the location of the tests.

The tests will be from the 12th to the 14th of March.

Correct because the first race will be in Bahrein they also do the tests there. It was easier for the quarantine rules so the drivers + staff is already there for some weeks.
Its quiet refreshing we will see another track for the winter tests.

About the Hamilton contract story I read more and more that it's more one big show then that are really problems with signing the contract. So they are just making it look very difficult and in the end he will sign the contract like it's planned.

^  Yup.  But dunno...  I’ve always seen Hamilton as this guy waiting to come home to McLaren.  He is to McLaren as Messi is to Barca or Ronaldo is to United.  I hope to see him return before he retires.
Don't forget the money part as these guys will always put that as their top priority. Long are gone the days of those sportsmen who felt some love and passion for their team. You also picked two wrong examples IMO, as Messi is trying hard to leave Barça while Ronaldo will never go back to United ever again.

Yup..  but you know...  When you say ‘Messi’, it’s always and will always be synonymous with Barca whichever club he may be playing with next if ever he leaves.  Some people think Hamilton = Mercedes.  It’s really McLaren, his boyhood team and where he won his first driver’s championship.
No man, I'm not sure that we can easily talk about Messi and referring to Barça especially if we take into account what is happening recently.
With motorsport, if I have to make an association that will last forever,  that would be for sure the Ferrari - Schumacher one.  Wink

Hamilton contract?

Probably, I can't see how Hamilton will not race next year.

All seats are taken, well all good seats are taken I can't see him racing in Williams and swapping him with Russell so he will end in Mercedes even for less money.

Mercedes needs Hamilton and Hamilton needs Mercedes.

They are just playing a game at the moment and in the end the contract will be signed at time. I saw a tweet/instagram post of Hamilton somewhere in the mountains. He probably takes some free time so I don't expect that he will sign soon.

Why do you think that? Mercedes also can win the championship next year without Hamilton? This car is strong enough to win with not the best driver. The cards will not be reshuffled until 2022 with the new regulations, the teams should save costs and why should they afford such an expensive driver, where others can win with this car?

Of course Mercedes can be champion without Hamilton. The car is good and we saw it with Russell last year that also another driver can race for the win. It will make the championship a lot more entertaining.

Verstappen was just a few points behind Bottas last season and Verstappen had 5 DNF's. So another driver wouldn't make Mercedes automatically a champion but they still got the best papers.

KTM extends the contract with Dorna, and KTM will in any case remain until 2026 at MotoGP, very good competition stimulates business.

There will probably also be changes in the MotoGP calendar due to the travel restrictions, for example from Australia.

Mercedes have tweeted an image of a pen, along with the caption "You never know when one of these might come in handy... 😉 Designing Race Cars. Taking Notes. Signing Stuff."
Is this just to get people talking, or is there a chance of an imminent announcement on the Hamilton contract?

https://twitter.com/MercedesAMGF1/status/1351197486262710278

I also saw that tweet and I read on some F1 news pages that they all think this is a link to Hamilton's contract.

If so, we might see this story ends this week.

I've heard something that Monaco, Azerbaijan and Canada GPs could be cancelled this season. And also it is said that Turkish GP could enter the calendar in the place of Monaco GP in May. I'm really excited about the possibility of Turkish GP could still be added. I hope it happens but I'd like to see Monaco GP too. There is no official statement about it so let's just wait for it.
Well, they are saying that Monaco GP will go as planned:
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/154629/monaco-organisers-insist-f1-race-is-going-ahead
But yeah, these street circuits is in question, but at least they have alternative tracks like Istanbul, Mugello or Portimao, what doesn't looks like worse option.
We don't know what Covid situation will be in April in May, but they have to make decision early because it takes a lot of time to prepare street circuit.
This is good news, because Monaco is one of the iconic Formula 1 tracks and the championship would lose some of the charm from the cancellation of the races. As far as I understand, but the representative of Formula 1 now generally stated that the calendar has already been determined, there is no question of canceling city races and all planned city races will take place as planned.

About the GP of Monaco the news keeps changing. If you google on GP Monaco 2021 you get different facts. Some news sites says it gonna been cancelled , just like Azerbaijan and Canada and others says that it will just go on. The best thing we can do is just wait.

Personally I am more interesing in the Dutch GP. Looks like that one will go on this year.

I do believe there will be a fierce battle for the F1 title in 2021.

I think 2021 will be a Mercedes procession again. The only reason other teams started catching up a bit in the second half of last season is because Mercedes were so dominant in the first half that they stopped development on their 2020 car to focus on the 2021 iteration. Which means the best team already has a head-start on the others. Couple this with the fact that permitted development is very restricted for 2021, and it looks a good bet that the Mercedes dominance will continue... at least until the 2022 regulations reset.

I agree 100% that Mercedes is somewhat ahead however a lot of teams will be competing head to head against them during this season,McLaren will have Mercedes engines again so we have to see how it will fold out.Aston Martin and Alpine are teams I expect to give tone to this year F1 season together with Redbull and Ferrari.

Mercedes have too far a developmental lead, so i don't think a other team can beat Mercedes over the whole year. It will probably not matter whether Hamilton drives a Mercedes or not, the probability that a Mercedes driver will become world champion is very high.

I still wonder whether Verstappen will become world champion with this team. Mercedes has a much more powerful engine. Red Bull management is top notch, but you can't make it with management alone.
I can not imagine that Hamilton would accept if if Verstappen will be next to him in the spot in Mercedes.
