Max Verstappen got the pole position, the Ferrari's are following in the grid.
Such a putty for Bottas who crashed in the last corner. The Mercedes team will have a difficult night fixing his car and making it ready for tomorrow's race.

FP3 right now, nobody on the track is not raining but the track is wet.

No one is risking their car, the quality is in 2 hours. Last 30 minutes about this shaming session.

Looking at FP2 Verstappen seems to be very competitive even with the new motor.

Keep in mind they were around the time of 1:16 so the pole position probably will be 1.14 and something.

Verstappen and Redbull dominated the last 2 edition of this GP but they got the Renault power unit, this year should be a different story, if he will lead the qualification the gap will be very close.

I don't think he can compete and Ferrari will take the pole, let's see what will happen.

Qualification round in some hours from now.
I love the Mexico track and I think that it is time for Verstappen to shine in this race. Hamilton is going to secure the title I think.

No need to keep quoting when you only replied to the last sentence. It's getting hard to read this topic now.

Rossi made a decent FP run in Australia. The doctor also 'wants' to race against his brother, some article said. It would be amazing if he continues racing until he's 50 years old.

A big storm is coming in Japan, the qualification round can be delayed to Sunday morning.
And they had to make changes in schedule. They cancelled FP3 and moved qualification to Sunday - it will happen in early morning just few hours before the race. There will be no action on the track on Saturday.

@LTU_btc. Which might really be the ideal schedule for the teams and their drivers if this sport was not a business hehe.

Also, bet for Max to win? It might be a wet race.

Max and rain is a good combination. That race at Brazil was just amazing.

@LTU_btc let’s hope we get to see the live race tomorrow, and hopefully the safety cars will stay away otherwise it’ll spoil the race. Max has a good chance of winning due to his current form, but he needs to start on the podium tomorrow otherwise he may not be able to win in such conditions due to visibility issues.

Too bad Max races was ruined by Leclerc. The whole team was aiming for a win in Japan and then such race.  Roll Eyes

That is racing,I think it was not intentional and probably Max and all other drivers should have been a bit more careful in the start of the race as we saw many touches there. The race was beautiful as it has always been in Suzuka in the last years and I think we all enjoyed it.

@swogerino I’ll agree it was not intentional and at the end of day it’s sports sometimes your favourite driver wins sometimes he looses there’s no need to get upset over what happened. Indeed the race turned out better than I thought, but I would not call it a perfect race due to that incident.

Max Verstappen is always reckless. Something similar happened between Leclerc and Max at Austria.
At that case none was kicked out of the race, but still Verstappen was so aggressive and pushed Leclerc out of track. I think he should be careful in order to protect himself in the future.

Well in Austria there wasn't that much happening. That was hard racing but wasn't reckless like he was at the beginning.

@coinlocket. Agreed. Monaco is the trophy that every driver dreams about. I reckon that if there was a plan to remove it, another prestigious street race should replace it. Maybe London or Paris?

In any case, another Mercedes constructors championship. When is the engine change hehehe?

I don't think that it is an engine advantage for Mercedes.
We have seen in many races this season that Ferrari lost wins due to bad strategies. Also they didn't define who is the 1st and 2nd driver in the team, and this is a problem for Ferrari is they wanted to win the constructors championship.

I think that the concept of first and second driver is a wrong one which impacts the beauty of racing in itself.Mercedes also has not a first and second driver although it may look like they have. The last victory of Bottas shows this. They favor the driver with the highest probability to win a race.

I'd rather would see races in old school tracks like Suzuka, Hungaroring, Hockenheim than in these fancy new circuits like Singapore, Sochi or some new tracks which are planned in future - they are much more boring than these old tracks.

I prefer tracks where you can overtake, SPA and Monza are masterpieces.

Hungaroring has 1 point where you can overtake.
Suzuka, meh.

Hockenheim was better in his old configuration but now is ok for overtakes.

Tracks in Austria, Japan, Singapore and (wil never happen) Monaco, needs to be changed.

Mercedes strategy was strange today. They were able to get  double front row finnish. But they decided to pit Lewis when his tyres were in perfect condition and he lost position not only to Bottas, but to Vettel also. They wanted to give win to Bottas, but losing 2nd position is such way was stupid decision IMO.
Leclerc got double time penalty (10+5 seconds), I think it was fair decision. But I don't understand why Vettel didn't got penalty for falstart.

These kinds of tracks need to be deleted from the circus.

It was another super boring race, good for Bottas he needed it.

But the track... You can't overtake unless the one in front of you has tires problems.

So true. Suzuka is so old track and it is not totally a fit for the new cars.
It may be a good track back in 2002 but not for cars in 2019. Hopefully, Bottas got a win, he truly deserved it as he always doing the "dirty" job for Hamilton and due to that he lost many times the 1st place.

We have a race at Suzuka and after a long time Bottas is doing great.
He started from the 3rd place and it seems to be ahead of the two Ferrari's that started in front of him.
