Murray is on the move! Can't wait for Inside Bitcoins conference, tons of folks from the crypto community will be there... these are the people who will actually know what cryptocurrency is when I talk to them and give them a Murraycoin sticker!  Grin

The Murraycoin Project ▪ Lead Developer
Just a quick note to let everybody know that we have transferred our domains to a new registrar and are now, officially, completely removed from 1and1. We do have a completely new website that is just about finished... but of course it's slightly behind schedule. In the meantime, we will be copying the old website to the new servers today just to get everything back online until we are ready to launch the new website.

We chose 1and1 originally because I have used them for hosting various smaller projects over the past 12 years, maintained an account with about 200 domains over there, and figured it would be sufficient for our purposes. After jumping over hurdles for months and dealing with random (and sometimes extensive) outages, we decided it was time to upgrade. The domain transfer process didn't go as smooth as we had hoped (1and1 really doesn't want to lose customers) but we have finally pulled everything off the old servers. Another bonus of switching to a dedicated server for Murraycoin is that it will improve our SEO; at 1and1, we were sharing an IP address (as well as a server) with a number of 3rd parties and it resulted in less-than-ideal search positioning. This will grow more important as we begin to roll out our marketing strategy.

We do apologize for the downtime - we didn't realize 1and1 would not allow us to continue using their hosting temporarily post-transfer. Basically, we were cutting corners with 1and1 and we paid the price; the good news is that none of that will matter much soon.

Looking forward to this minor hiccup being in the rearview mirror.

In my mind, the timeline for Murraycoin would look roughly like this:

1. Promote Murraycoin to the cryptocommunity & increase MRY's propagation / infrastructure by getting it added to a payment platform like Moolah, getting it listed on Bittrex, having use-cases like for crowdfunding, tipping on Twitter, etc.
2. Once the paper wallet generator, the mobile app, and other key elements are in place as bholzer sees fit, he & his team will launch a PR / marketing campaign geared at the public (people outside of crypto). Murraycoin will easily become famous as a result, as I see it.
3. Continue the work in steps 1 & 2 indefinitely.

I mentioned in a PM to bholzer that I recognize the importance of myself & us Murrayheads getting the word out about MRY, but that it's also important we don't do anything too bold or outrageous without bholzer being ok with it (so that we don't accidentally generate any *negative* press for MRY). For example, you wouldn't want to hang a Murraycoin banner from a freeway overpass because it would likely violate the law, or the banner could even possibly fall & cause an accident.

I sent an email to the team responsible for PotFunder to see if they would be interested in working on a MRY-based crowdfunding site, but they said they were too busy for new projects at the moment. Even though they weren't available, that's at least one new active & skilled participant in the crypto community who knows about (and could gain interest in) MRY. This is just one of the many ways to help the MRY community grow.

Onward & upward, y'all! =)

I dunno what bholzers plans are, but us as a community need to come up with ways that we can promote murraycoin to the murray bros foundation (as well as the public). because once they are completely onboard things will take off fast and their donations will be worth heaps

Lets get our thinking caps on

basically the way I see it s that they are unable to see the value as its new tech, not the old ways that they have been doing business, need something that can demonstrate this to change their thinking about the tech, and how it can be a massive benefit to them

done that as well.

can't wait for dev to get onto the planned news/work and good things to come (all in due time), and especially get this added to 2-3 more major trading sites so we can see excellent adoption/trading/usage/sharing/whateveryouwannacallit and a nice spike in valuation!

it'd be awesome to show the charity what 400-500k MRY is worth now vs. the possibility of that MRY in "X amount of months from now"!

CURRENT FUND BALANCE: 470,799.66 MRY

Nice....

We really need them to get on board, I hope the above helps them make a decision.

Indeed! And speaking of large amounts of MRY, make sure to occasionally transfer your funds from Cryptsy into a password-protected wallet on your computer. To my knowledge, Cryptsy hasn't had any real security breaches, but in my mind the only thing that could hurt Murraycoin in the long-term would be a major theft of coins.

Peace, love, and Bill Murray everybody! Happy long weekend!

I heard a rumour, can't say whether they true or not, that cryptsy has been having a few issues, so I suggest everyone takes brianbbad advice and not keep your coins at the exchange

even if they are not having issues, I still suggest taking brians advice

Running low on Murraycoin stickers so I'll be ordering some more soon; I wanna be able to represent MRY at the Inside Bitcoins conference at Las Vegas in October.
I will probably try to carry a more professional demeanor, so the Ghostbusters outfit will stay at home this time.  Grin

And maybe time to transfer to a new registrar? They own the domain, so they shouldn't be at the mercy of someone else over where the DNS points, or anything like that.

Bummer, but good to know at least it isn't just me. Hope it gets sorted soon.

Yeah, same here. I heard from bholzer this week, he is still having issues transferring the domains (the old old host apparently keeps rolling back the DNS registration or something.)

Anything that can be converted into BTC is a potential target, plus you're assuming that MRY price & volume are not going to grow. So yeah, you did mean to be rude. Next time before you post something, ask yourself: What Would Bill Murray Do?  Cool

He would steal btc before his own coin Grin
