I dunno, I just liked the fact that there was a coin named after Bill Murray.

Me too, he's always been one of my favorite comedians.  It actually makes me sad to see him getting old.  Sad

Nobody ever said Bill Murray was behind Murraycoin, (unless you know something new that I don't), but that is the plan. Also, at almost 8 months old its not exactly a "new" alt anymore.

That's the impression I was given here.  In that case then this is nothing more than a pipe-dream.  Let's get real, I can launch any coin and tell everyone I hope tom cruise joins my CruiseCoin - it means nothing.

If the dev has had actual conversations with Bill Murray - like people are claiming - then shouldn't there be some proof and don't multiple convos imply some serious interest my Bill Murray?

I don't know - I'm just tired of all the scams - I really wish if people had something real they would post proof instead of just more stories.

Those are legitimate concerns. I'm not part of the official Murraycoin team so I can't really offer any proof. Obviously trusting people can sometimes yield bad results, but bholzer has never made any outrageous claims or set any unrealistic goals that would cause me to doubt him.

Murraycoin launched in January, and I do think that if CruiseCoin came out Tom Cruise would probably send a cease-and-desist order of some kind soon after the coin's release. Kanye West sued Coinye before it even officially launched! ^_^

How fast would your brain explode if bholzer turned out to be Bill this whole time!?  Grin

Is there any proof bill Murray is really behind Murray coin?  It's just that there's a lot of fraud going on these days with alts.

Also, 54 million coins is so high compared to most newer alts...

Have some assorted Murraycoin updates:

First of all, 48 hours after announcing the Bill Murray Charity Fund, we've received 64,323.35 MRY in donations (as of this post.) This is impressive...but the majority of that came from FusionHash. If you haven't donated anything yet, please do; if we want Bill Murray to promote Murraycoin (taking it into the stratosphere) he needs more incentive. We've all been enjoying mining this coin and we all need to do our part to help take it to the next level. 100% of Murraycoins donated to the Bill Murray Charity Fund will be given to the Murray Bros. Foundation -- from there, they will certainly go toward a good cause. Every little bit helps.

I still love you, Murraycoin!

Also, 54 million coins is so high compared to most newer alts.  Any plans to maybe slow down the subsidy and max supply - that would help relieve the selling pressure on the coin.

Good luck if this is indeed the real deal.  I'll be buying a few coins just in case.

Cheers!

Maybe somebody from the art show on Friday who I talked to liked what they heard? Smiley I did very briefly chat with a guy wearing a Ripple sweatshirt, and gave him a Murraycoin sticker of course.

In other news, Zach Galligan (star of Gremlins, and the recently unearthed Bill Murray film "Nothing Lasts Forever") is following me on Twitter.

To be honest, I'm surprised the major media outlets haven't got hold of the Murraycoin story yet. I did tweet to a Wall Street Journal reporter who writes about cryptocurrencies asking him what he thought of Murraycoin... he responded with a series of Bill Murray quotes.  Cool
Maybe tweet at him if you get a chance, tell him Murraycoin is worth writing about?

Just want you guys to know I'm still alive and kicking - I know it's been a while... but the wheels of progress are still in motion and I assure you things are happening here. The switch to Scrypt-2048 on July 4th was the last technical modification to the coin itself in the short-term and we are currently focusing all of our energy and resources on our marketing strategy, partnerships, and (yes) endorsements. We intend to truly make Murraycoin a gateway cryptocurrency with a low barrier of entry using a fun, user-friendly and feature-rich approach; this will be key due to our unique marketing strategy. We want to use Murraycoin to bring new people into this world and all of you that are in on the ground floor will benefit. We just need a bit more time for the pieces to fall in place and we'll quickly become one of the lone bright spots in the current altcoin universe.

I hate posting when I don't have anything tangible for you all but I also don't like to let the gap in communication grow too wide; with the way most coin devs handle things I feel it's important to assure you guys I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere.

Onward and upward.

Good to hear, I wasn't talking about not hearing from you, we know your hard at work, there is usually a little friendly chit chat going on  Grin

I see where you're coming from, as someone invested in a coin who gets some hope and then feels let down. It looks like his spark did get things going for the coin though. I'm just not sure he should lose his trust and or respectability over it especially in this industry where no respect and no trust belong to far worse people. He's still active and working hard.

He may have over reached and maybe that was a mistake on his part, but it seems his intentions were to help.

I know I have done the same in many instances, for web development. I did many sites for free, and at some point I over offered my help and couldn't keep up. Needless to say I only do paid work now Tongue

Anyway I don't want to keep this dragging out on the MRY thread. I'm sure bholzer will be doing a posting push soon. It seems to be his pattern to be working hard, be inactive on forum, then come back with progress.
I'm sure he'll cue in. Meanwhile I wish your coin the best as the community also seems nice.

For those of you unaware, I have once again been out of town for a few days. Now that I am back in action, I will definitely be wrapping up some of these lingering projects this week. Also some good news: The Murraycoin Project, LLC just received a significant, much-needed investment (amount will remain undisclosed) from a new investor plus an additional cash injection in the form of me personally selling the small investment group 3,000,000 MRY for $25,000 USD cash (of which half will be reinvested in The Murraycoin Project, LLC).

It has been a long, slow climb but things continue to fall into place.

Hey man ! What about Silkcoin Recovery .. really not a good way you choosed. For everyone who is not aware:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=676976.760

You can delete this post now or you take this like a man and apologize.

Hey, I went through bholzers' post history and looked at the thread. I'm not sure what was so bad about anything he did. In fact it seems he did more than he needed to with nothing in return. Why are you coming here and  hating? Did I miss something?

The only negative take away is that maybe bholzer is biting off more than he can chew, and as someone who's invested in MRY it would be great to know where his priorites are.
Maybe the other projects are more lucrative and will bring in more ROI for him to work on MRY. I'm not sure, but would be good to know.

Other than bholzer being overburdened I don't see why this is causing a big show. Maybe you can enlighten us all.

Also it seems people don't understand how being really busy works. Days pass like  hours, weeks pass like days. It's crazy. Maybe he needs a personal point of contact to keep the forums up to date, ie: relay any small news so that he can focus on work. It is important to shield any developer from the outside mob so they can focus on getting things done and not get demotivated here.

Bholzer if you're reading this don't get discouraged (i'm sure you're not though; you seem like a strong character). No need to waste time back and forth on threads, just prove everyone wrong with your actions, which you have been doing with MRY coin. The haters can eat their words because that's all they have.

Thanks for discussing. I fully understand that he is too busy for the project. But I do not come to project and say... guys I take over (sorry he did it, maybe in a implicit way) everyone gets hope and then no answer anymore. Neither a "I am too busy sorry guys I cannot help anymore"

Keep going with MRY looks like a good project. I am not mad or something don't get me wrong. Neither I want to be a little flame kiddy. But I didn't like the way it worked out and I don't like people to vanish without saying goodbye.

My feeling from the Silkcoin community is that mostly no one trust him anymore now, but more important is that everyone was confused about that because he had / has a great reputation here at Bitcointalk.

So thanks for your opinion as I said and don't get me wrong its ok to stop a project when someone is too busy etc.   But I would never come to thread and say "Lets do it , and then vanish and not contribute anymore"

Cheers!

Ok, now THIS looks promising. I found out about this site's service because I read about Urocoin on cbs46.com.
