I trust the legal system enough to hold up a contract signed & notarized by both parties. Wink

Sadly the only way to do this is trust that the person will pay you if Gox returns the money. Then you might as well bet on it.

Pretty much. I don't think there is any way to do this except based entirely on trust. That and I suppose you could take their ubikey, if they had one?

That's exactly the type of argumentation I was trying to read

The price is somewhere around 0.10-0.30 but the deal doesn't seem easy to do

If you want to take a bet, you might want to research the various btc betting sites and see if you could set up such a bet and get any counterparties to that bet.

It may be possible but it may be hard to know exactly what percentage the clients received if they don't receive the same percentage when they lost fiat or btc

I will just forget the mtgox fiasco and try to accumulate more bitcoins before the spike up to new highs Wink

Website is closed at the moment.

Can you still buy someone account?

What would be the exchange rate? I am not interested to buy but I am interested to know the exchange rate in the scheme of the recent events (200 or 350k found)

No trade is taking place at the moment as Gox is closed.

Account buying is also a different story as i think its not compliant to MtGox's terms.

Edit: I'd guess the exchange rate would be somewhere between 0.2 and 0.3 at the moment.

Much less.

Assuming a 100% chance that 200k coins will pay back creditors, it would be trading at about .2 or a little less. Given that its not even close to guaranteed that there's a payout, it would be closer to .05...

i would argue the opposite direction. 25% seems highly likely to get back. so that would bring the price to around 0.18 i's say. but now you would have to add some bonus to that price as there is also a certain probability that there are more coins waiting to be discovered, found, whatever...

you see, it depends on which side of the deal you are taking. Wink

Getting back 30% is pretty sweet when you thought you lost it all

yes, indeed. lets hope that those numbers are correct and that they dont need years to pay those coins back.

Ok it is pretty good compared to where it was a few weeks ago (less than 10%)

Getting back 30% is pretty sweet when you thought you lost it all

As far as I understand it you can't buy an mtgox account easily, you would have to know the person and get a secret private deal with no guarantees

I´m "new" to BTC but first thing i heard cold storage is the ONLY way to go.

I backed up my Wallet on dropbox, though, good idea?

I'm not sure about Dropbox but one cloud provider that is encrypted from start to finish is SpiderOak.

Server-side encryption is good.
Don't rely on it, though, always use your own encryption on top!
Also, it helps not to name the file "bitcoinsavings.aes".
Yes, "security by obscurity", but as long as that's not all you rely on, it's ok to do it ;-)
