well its 12am on the 29th and still out of stock.

i was hoping this would be a midnight sale and everything turns on.. now its looking like it will be 5am or 6am and i probably will be sleeping when they go on sale Sad

Yeah, unfortunately I think I'll have to wait a bit to have them. If in two or three days it is still not available, I'll simply buy a 1070.

i keep refreshing the page.. i dont think they will go on sale till morning tho.. maybe 6am..

i set up an email alert.. hopefully it works.

Well, the parts arrived, I got Win7 and stuff installed.

appx. 30MH running qtminer (pool says 26.5, but that's after only about 2 hours), 350 watts but the machine is also crunching about 600MKeys/sec on RC5 (GPU in the A10, it didn't have enough memory available to even try mining with) and all 4 CPU cores are running Prime95, so a fair bit of the wattage isn't going into mining - and it's STILL definitely profitable (for now).

Time to start digging for NVidea tweeking tool(s).

Too bad the X1250 is such massive overkill for this system - I should probably go ahead and get something smaller in anticipation of needing that X1250 for something in the future needing a lot more of it's capasity, but I had 2 on hand that were not being used for a while....

After you make some profit from the mining, you can buy more cards to fill your rig. It is more profitable.

i wonder what is the difference between the BFA6 and BBA6

edit after checking around.

the BBA6 Model is the black edition OC. its clocked at ~60ish overclock.
the BFA6 is the regular  black edition. its clocked at 22mhz overclock.

so you are paying 20$ for a 40mhz oc.. ?

also some reason newegg is charging 1$ more to ship the OC model.. lol

Newegg is generally 30 days on a warrenttee return, after that you talk to the manufacturer.
Amazon - varies, depends on the actual seller.

im guessing that one will sell out fast.

back on topic   I just got a card from newegg today

I am up to 55mh!

burning 540 watts to do it. quiet and the pcs can still  be used as pcs.

55mh earns about .8 coins a day  or 24 coins in a month

are you using the proxy version for mining ethereum with dwarf? you should because it will increase your earning a bit, around 10%

ETH is going down - putting the mining profitability under the risk

Perhaps this is in regards to the softfork that is due to pass in about 2 days, a change causes uncertainty in the market.  I expect the soft fork to be positive for the market eventually though as it proves to people how they can secure large amounts of money from hackers.

Edit: Just checked and the softfork is not passing currently.

Philip - do you believe in overclocking?

Someone the other day told me not to overclock my R-390s because I bought it new.

Further advice was it will degrade the GPU if heavily used mining and I should underclock instead and keep its performance intact.

Given that this is no Nano or Fury, the MSI-R9-390 is quite a new model with high-end bell and whistles, I can't imagine modern day GPUs going degraded quickly after heavy mining-only use.

I got the GPUs mainly for ETH mining, as my objective was to squeeze the daylights of these puppies because it's a race against time, as far as ETH is concern. Currently, 5 x 390s slightly overclocked runs 30MHs per card, giving me a total of 150MHs in this rig.

Thoughts?

Eth looks like it will collapse  so if you overclock and get coins faster it may be worth it.

study your mh to watts.

I am not overclocking basically I want to keep the quiet of my den   intact and control temps a bit.

I have room for one more card and it will come on the 14th.

It is a 390

So I will run:

1 hd7970 = 20 mh
1 r7 370  = 15 mh
1 r9 380  = 20 mh
1 r9 390  =  ?

2 rigs should use about 700 watts and do about 80mh

I got them with good return policies just in case.
I always like this about GPU mining real companies with real return polices.
This is another reason I did not overclock much.

How long is Neweggs or Amazon's return policy? I thought about doing the same incase ETH crashes next week

i think OS and miner app is a personal choice -- whatever works for you and easiest to manage.

personally, i use all AMD based cards only for ETH mining.

I choose Win8.1 for ease of management, lower learning curve and up to date AMD driver support.

Win 8. Gag. DEFINITELY a personal choice - if I have to use a currently-available Windows, I use 7 - 8.x UI was a nightmare I never did figure out how to use AT ALL, and 10 looks to be more of the same. Worst learning curve I've ever suffered through from a Micro$loth product, as I never did figure out HOW to use it at ALL.

My "Big Box" came pre-installed with 8.something, it SUPPOSEDLY had mining software pre-installed on it, but it ended up taking me 5 HOURS less time to do a "from scratch" Ubuntu 14.04 / XFCE install on it once I gave up on 8 than I WASTED trying to figure out 8 *AND* I never did figure out if the mining software was actually on the machine.

It says a lot that Micro$loth has already pushed on past 8, and that it looks like they will probably drop support for it BEFORE they drop Win7 support (same thing happened with XP (and 2K IIRC) vs. Vista, or ME vs 98SE).
7 is at least usable, abet it's still a PITA at times - and it gets AT LEAST as good of driver support as anything "more recent".

With that said, almost ALL of my mining is on Ubuntu 14.04 systems - the remainder are "gaming" systems that I mine on when I'm not actively gaming on them.
I DO use XFCE instead of that PITA "Unity" UI though - would go with XUbuntu 14.04 instead if I could ever find a legitimate link to download that from, instead of them pushing their "BREAKS DRIVERS" 16.04 version and having NO link I can find anywhere to any older version.
The Ubuntu folks are smarter about that, easy to find THEIR links to older versions that are still USABLE for mining.

I do like ethmine.org for a pool - nice transparent interface, good reliability, decent stats website, and multiple pool URLs for fallover.

My current desktop is Mac OSX and Mint 17, I use both platforms heavily on daily basis. Like you, I stopped looking at MS since useless Vista years ago.

But for mining, Claymore Dual Miner runs faster on Windows platform (compared to its Linux version) and my first build was on Windows 7 then 8.1, quite easy deployment actually, plus the driver support & multi GPU support are current. And the utilities for overclocking run well under Windows platform.

I find Windows 10 quite fun and zippy actually but it has a lot of "spyware" and so I will probably use it only sparingly....

I have one old PC with quad-core CPU running W10 quite well and stable, and it currently exclusively runs proxy for ETH solo mining, latest geth and bitcoin nodes - on hindsight, I will probably move them to Ubuntu soon because lately I see Windows 10 reboots and updates itself without any warning, and it also deletes programs automatically if it doesn't like it.

I have no windows 10 for the bolded reason above all eth coin is on windows 7.

and I have a pc on linux  that is really good I just need the time to sit and learn it better.

Actually, if you get into CureCoin, you CAN get paid for folding.

I don't think it's anywhere near the electric cost, but it's better than nothing - and you get Big Warm Fuzzies for helping the work to find the next miracle cure drug(s).

For the competative among us, it can also be nice to watch your standing climb the rankings (that's the only reason I still do RC5, I want to crack the Top 100 before I quit - just hit 190 a couple days ago).

There is ONE ASIC currently "available" for X11 (one of the bigger review sites got one), but it's "out of stock" and has been for a bit. The makers apparently sold out their first batch (of 50 as I recall their claim) fast and haven't gotten the next batch built yet.

Check the Dash forums, it's mentioned in there somewhere.

X11 is still profitable FOR NOW for GPU, as there aren't a LOT of those ASIC machines running yet - but that might change fairly fastly if the things enter serial production and start selling a significant number.
