Ethereum is mainly use as token know as ether. Which is most effective then bitcoin. Due to this many people use it for their online business. Many government gives permit Ethereum trading in their country. So it will guide the crypto world in future.
What you say is probably true, but this year is too early. I can see that all active ICOs are based on ETH and they trade more than BTC. But BTC is still a complete and unmatched king. To overthrow the BTC I think ETH will take quite some time even impossible.
I heard that there is increased interest in alternative tokens, token distributions, and initial token offerings or related token based projects. But to participate types of projects and distributions, for the most part, you must buy into Ethereum, which automatically applies the terms of the contract.

Ethereum in my opinion is indeed difficult to compete with Bitcoin, let alone see its value on the market, and many altcoins whose prices go down. but even though prices often go up and down, don't worry because that's a natural thing and Ethereum in my opinion is a very good altcoin because Ethereum has excellent potential and quality. so many people like it that many people are interested in investing. 
Imo Bitcoin is the king as a value store but I don't see any serious competitor against eth. It's the bigger crypto ecosystem.
sure say that again. Ether to the world. I believe in bitcoin. Me saying this does not mean i have loose hope in bitcoin. Bitcoin came and did wonderful things . Made people rich overnight and so on. However i believe the new potential coin is almight ETH. Ether is here to stay....I know most of us couldn't make it with bitcoins and buy more in 2009 but not too late in Eth.

In my opinion the ethereum is a very good altcoin with better prospect.
