there is planning update and adding etherium?

Despite the massive amounts they've been able to crowdfund, I believe Ethereum won't be added anytime soon.

https://github.com/mycelium-com/wallet/issues/360

it looks like there might be a less obtrusive sponsored section.

i'd still prefer to pay them something.

Mycelium just pushed an update removing the partner links guess they got the message:)

This could be both a good or a bad thing. If they were planning to use the funds that they get from the ads to pay the developers then this could mean that the development could get slow and the major updates like SPV could take more time.

I guess that means the ads weren't airtight contracted then...

What problems did electrum have on your phone?
Currently, it crashes if I try to add a new wallet... From what I can gather, it is a "SegFault" of some description, but because it is running "native" code via kivy, I can't see the exact cause of the problem... the error message is a bit obscure Sad

Previously, I had it go into some crash loop where it would just instacrash on app startup... the only way around that was to clear the app data/cache, and then restore my wallet...

The latest update now has ads inside it. What the hell is up with that? Give us a paid option and I'll gladly buy it or I'm deleting it asap.

I agree with a paid user option.  I would happily pay for the app instead of ads. Let me pay to rid it of the ads just like Amazon did with Kindle Fires.

And maybe fix the iOS version as well to give an option to use a pin.

Edit:  Thanks for posting to the thread.  I was able to block the update - for now.

I haven't upgraded to this ad version, but if something is forced or I wipe the phone and have to download the new version what other mobile wallets can I directly import the Mycelium seed into?

Copay doesn't seem to have anywhere near the same functionality I'm used to. Anything else?

This sort of bullshit is the reason I have auto update switched off... Undecided

Going to have to go create an Android dev environment now so I can download the source and hack the ads out... I just wish Electrum was a bit more stable on my device, otherwise I'd switch in a heartbeat...

I love the "we gotta pay for stuff" excuse... wtf happened to all the money from the crowdsale? Huh

I was considering switching because my mycelium sent coins with a low fee even when I selected priority fees. It was fine until the network was saturated with unconfirmed transactions, but it's no use to me now it insists on paying a low fee.

I've read that large amounts of that sum have been eaten by unexpected legal costs. That could of course be a fudge, but I looked at it when it was proposed and well and truly couldn't figure out what was in it for me. Rather sad that an operation with so much good will ballsed it up.

Do those ads possess any danger to the mycelium users? Because i feel like they can.

Android itself isn't safe anyways. Googleplay is swarmed by all kinds of filth there is. I wouldn't carry my wealth in an android device. Never.

One day you'll download a game which asks for a stupid permission aaaaand its gone.

The only way to do this with mycelium (currently) is to use pycoin or even import the seed into another wallet app which does have cointrol (import / not move).

That's similar to what I did. I made a new wallet in Bitcoin Core and imported all my funded Mycelium addresses as 'watchonly' addresses. I provide the required private keys on an as-needed basis when I want to spend them.

dooglus,

I was referring more towards using the same wallet.  So, instead of making a bitcoin core wallet and importing the addresses (or moving the coins), I wanted the ability to keep mycelium and continue to use the master seed along with all the prior addresses unlinked (so to speak).  You can import the account(s) into Electrum giving you access to all the addresses AND also have coin control.  This does NOT mean that I don't use core.

So, core at home/server/semi cold storage.
Mycelium for mobile use with the ability to also use on electrum for specific reasons.

To me, it's a step easier to have a master seed stored in a safe than a USB key with a wallet.dat on it.

Can you now specify the fee numerically as satoshis per byte? I stopped using Mycelium because I wasn't able to choose the fee other than picking between 4 too-high amounts.
Which wallet did you switch to?

I use Bitcoin Core now. It lets me specify any fee I like, lets me select which utxo's to spend, and has the option of taking the fee from the sent amount, so I don't receive change outputs when I don't want to.
Did you use mycelium on a mobile, then stop using mobile and go to desktop exclusively so you could use Core?

I used to use Mycelium on a tablet, and also ran a few Bitcoin Core nodes. When Mycelium started insisting that I pay bigger fees than I wanted to I stopped using it and switched to using one of my Core nodes exclusively when I want to make payments. I don't miss the ability to spend BTC while I'm away from home, because I almost never did that anyway.

The only way to do this with mycelium (currently) is to use pycoin or even import the seed into another wallet app which does have cointrol (import / not move).

I agree with dooglus; however, I use them differently than him.

I use core on a laptop/computer.
I use mycelium on a cell phone.  I use the phone as a mobile hot wallet.  Example buying coffee and presents.
I use the computer for control over my coins so that I can specifically decide on my payment/crosss payment/change address/ and the fee I want to pay.  So, handle multiple payments in the same transaction which is good to make it just a little more anonymous.

Let's say I had an address of coins I won from a gambling site.  So, insead of using that and the change gets mixed up with my other coins, I can use core cointrol to still make the same payment, but have the change to back to the same address so they are not mixed with other funds.

The only way to do this with mycelium (currently) is to use pycoin or even import the seed into another wallet app which does have cointrol (import / not move).

Good point Smiley
So... should I create a new wallet and back up the seed on a piece of paper?

Still, a person would require my pin code to do transactions, isn't it?

Since your 12 word seed has been online (on your computer), then I would say yes.  I suggest you make another and write it down and put it into a safe.

The pin only blocks a person from getting into the app on that phone.

So, if I knew your seed, I could then restore on my phone.  The PIN is bypassed at that point.
Special note:  The iOS version doesn't even have a pin.  So, those users are even less secure.
