1st OCTOBER, NIGERIAN INDEPENDENCE
This is a significant date in the history of Nigeria as it connotes the end of colonialism in the history of this great African nation commonly referred to as the giants of Africa.
It is usually a well celebrated day with lots of green and white attire/decorations in every aspect of the nation.
Sadly, the day has changed quite much. Today, I was oppouned to walk through one of Nigeria's prestigious state and it felt like just any other day except for the public holiday declaration by the federal government. In times of old, this has been a well celebrated day with children representatives of different schools wearing white gloves for match past at designated centers for the occasion.
Listening over the radio today, a lot of lamentation was all that came off the mouths of it's citizens instead of celebration and cheers to a lovely nation, cries of reformation with a few thanks to God for all he has done. So I ask myself,
Is the laxity accompanied with the day...
1. An issue of Covid19? Or
2. An issue of bad governance?
I was going to make this a topic in the politics and society but, publicity of the nation's that would reflect badly didn't seem appropriate. Let's discuss.
My question is, before covid 19, what was the state of our dear country.. Nigeria?
I will categorically tell you that covid 19 was very merciful to us in this country, cus if it did to this country half of what it did to countries like Italy, UK, by now, there would be famine in the whole nation and people won't be dying from covid alone but also from hunger and starvation cus food items will be scarce and very expensive to buy.
Covid knew that Nigeria already have a lot of problems and adding its own would result to a total disaster.
So this is to clearly state that covid-19 is not our problem and also not the reason why people aren't celebrating our independence day
The reason is
Bad Governance, ever since this government came into power, things have never been good in this country, people have over worked themselves and are now tired and angry 😡.
