I also wanted to know how the POS works. Is there any advantage to buying more NAS. Will the NAS I have in my wallet increase over time? I am looking to invest in something long term like this.

If you have NAS in your account longer than 1440 confirmations ( ~ 1.5 days atm) and then start your client and start forging (the client needs to run for this), then you participate in a lottery to create blocks and if you create a block and it contains fees, then you will get those fees. But don't expect much return from this, maybe 0.1% per year. This is done to secure the network, not to give intrest Smiley

PS: Never invest more than you can afford to lose, crypto world is crazy!

stop posting the inital distribution. It has changed alot and this coin is only 14 days old.

Look at the actual distribution here: http://nascoin.org:7888/nas?action=account
Yes it is not much better but no account has more than 5%. Like NXT. The first account belongs to dgex.com the exchange and the second is the marketing accounnt.

Well, we all know that how much is in individual accounts isn't important. How much is owned/controlled by individual people is important, and once people start moving their funds around from one account to another there's no accurate way to determine this.

Has he sold it to someone else? Has he transferred it to a few smaller accounts, for cold storage? Has he written the passphrase on a piece of paper and swallowed it in a brief moment of mad rage? Who knows.

I know that all stakeholders i know sold NAS to spread the word.

Also it makes sence to keep all your NAS in one account to forge more blocks, so there is that. But yeah it is true that people could just shift NAS around to different accounts, but this hasn't happen in NXT and I don't see it happen with NAS.

How are we supposed to generate new NAS?  I've got some in my webwallet and i'm apparently "forging" but haven't seen any tx fees collected.

Thanks guys

It is like a lottery for each block. If you have 1 million NAS, and there are 500 million NAS trying to forge a block, you will statistically forge every 1/500 block. But with good luck or bad luck, you could forge 1 block in 10 minutes or ever week only.

Also,  no new NAS are created. Only thing you can get are the TX fees in the blocks.

gotcha, thanks...  So, as long as my client says i'm forging I can be assured it's not sitting idle?

The other 70% - does that sound right honestly? Someone said on the NXT Forum that there are NXT initial stakeholders that went to NAS - sounds like a conspiracy, but it smells like the same thing anyways.

Well. To the 70% thing. We don't know who owns them, many could have been sold already. I hope someone will make analysis of the distribution.

Just for your information, most of the investors are located in asia. So I bet most NXT stakeholders were NOT in the inital IPO, but some of them bought NAS early (like myself).

I have to agree with cryptohunter. The giveaway is pretty "crumby".

I work with the funds I have. I even donated a good chunk of my own funds. Sorry if I am not that good at convincing people to donate more. I tried my best.

Now I just work with it and try to giveaway everything that is possible.!

I didn't say anything against you.

Just the fact that it makes you think where the "rest" is.

I know some stakeholders now, and they all donated about 5% of their funds, I donated 10%. Some stakeholders got their funds and have not touched them since the IPO. So there are about 10% of coins "gone". Another 6% are with the marketing/bounty funds. 2% are in this giveaway. and 11 % are on dgex exchange, and about 2 % are on nxt-e (guess) So we know where about 30% of the funds are, hopefully the other 70% will see the need to chip in and distribute this coin much better.

When I came to this coin I was shocked about the distribution too. But I decided that this coin still has a future, and since then I did everything to better the distribution. It has been improved significantly. And it will continue to do so, i am sure!

PS: I think this wasn't clear, I was NOT in the IPO. I have not gained 1200 times return or even 1000%... I just thing that the first clone of a successful coin will also be successful if it tries to!

And even that would be fine - IF those big stakeholders would then use these funds (but even that is too much) to pay for development - NOT like a big chunk of NXT initial stakeholders that just sit on their holding, that is just wrong.

They should be the ones that care the most and should do the most work, but no. Well fine - if they don't see into the future - sometimes 1 step back is making 2 steps forward.

But they will ruin their own "coin" anyways with that kind of attitude.
