if someone bought me one I would tear it apart and take all the photos they want - warranty be damned lol but I think that anyone would be willing to do that. I agree with OGnasty though - would not want to void any warranty on my dime either.

Og: Take some pics of the unit before you put it in service, bonus bitpennies if you open it up and post the boards. I'm quite curious and wondering if it's worth the time for me to get one and learn how to fix it. Antminers tend to be the same and I have been bored....

I'll take some unboxing photos for you, I won't be opening it up and tinkering though.  Gotta keep that warranty intact.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
Problem is they require a constant amount of wind and need to have pretty long blades to be useful. Otherwise they only generate at 30mph winds where they sound like banshees.

I don't recommend wind turbines for normal people except for harnessing the 'cool factor' at this time.  Maybe future technological advancements will change that.  I talk a little more about it in the Green Energy Project thread and found this comment on the subject: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.29185263

really? they are not that efficient? i was thinking of adding like 10 of em lol

ognasty - side note, do you use wind to subsidize your power usage?

Yes.  Here's a video of my wind turbine before I added supports and painted the pole.

If I could find a way to get some decent hydroelectric going, I'd be all over it.

nice! i am thinking about adding some wind turbines but as a user of one, is it worth it? and how hard is it to connect in to the system?

MINING UPDATE:
I've placed an order for the new top of the line S17Pro from Bitmain.  This should be shipped quickly, and will hopefully be up and running before Cinco De Mayo.  I'll be exploring opportunities to sell our Whatsminer M10 in the coming weeks as we move to being exclusively a 7nm GPU & ASIC mining operation.

nice - I wish I could justify it but it is mainly the tariff that stops me - hopefully within a month or so they will drop in price when the profits plummet from the increased network hashrate and then bitmain will issue coupons as well.

I am looking forward to seeing results from the early birds though.

I've sold off our Antminer S9.  Keeping my eye on the M20 & S17 announcements...

Which coin is NastyMining goinig to mine with the new GPUs ?

Whatever performs best and is most stable on NiceHash when I do the testing. Right now we’re mining Beam and receiving BTC payouts with our GPUs.

Edit: I've purchased a second Vega VII as it became available.

Edit 2: The Vega VIIs have been running stable for more than a week now.  I can't say I'm blown away by their performance, but they did provide a 50% boost over the Vega 56s.

I haven't looked in to the Vega VII but i know 2080ti is worth money/haspower compared to like a 1080ti or prized are dropped in the mean time...

We'll discover the Vega VII's performance soon enough.  I purchased one yesterday for NastyMining that will be arriving next week.  I'll likely sell off our Vega 56 GPUs at some point and purchase another Vega VII if the efficiency is as good as expected.

MINING UPDATE:
A week ago I purchased a Whatsminer M10 for NastyMining which is now hashing away.  This brings our current hashrate to around 45th/s.  I am also considering upgrading the GPUs, but am not sure if I should go with the 2080 ti or Vega VII.

Great ! mooore hashpower. Let's see/hope the M10 is a stable miner.

I also have a question concerning my account - when I attempt to log in at https://www.nastyfans.org I am being told my account is "terminated" - not sure why it is but it is - So, when I try to register again, it tells me I cannot because "username already taken"

can this be rectified?

You seem confused. NastyFans is an organization, not a person. It has no signature spot to advertise anything.

maybe so but all your posts have an advertisement for sigma pool in the signature. and that is all I was referencing, I would think your signature would have an advertisement for your pool, that is all.

curious - why is nastyfans running a sig for a different pool?

NastyFans operates a 0-fee p2pool node with custom payouts, not me. Any NastyFans member is free to advertise whatever they want. You seem to still be confusing me with NastyFans. I assure you that being a member of NastyFans brings with it no advertising requirements or exclusions of any kind.
