OgNasty - just a quick question. What's some differences between your pool and (For instance) BTC Guild? Are the payouts different?

The main difference is NastyPool runs on the p2pool network, so it helps decentralize the Bitcoin network. Another difference would be that we have our own NastyPoP payout method. It lowers variance and provides weekly payouts as well as having 250 seats added to the NastyPoP earnings to provide >100% payouts for miners. We also charge no fees and have a lottery in development. You earn lotto tickets for accepted p2pool shares and will one day be able to sell them or enter them into the lottery (you can earn tickets now, but the lottery is not live yet).

So why is NastyPool better than BTC Guild?
  • Network Decentralization
  • No Fees
  • Exclusive Payout Method
  • >100% Payouts
  • Bonus Lottery

Well I didn't want to outright ask why it's "Better" Smiley Just wondering how it's different. Well hell, that sounds pretty good to me. I'll do some research and see about getting on board. I don't have much mining power, but that will change in the months to come.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a few TH I can toss over at your folks, but I'm not sure what the difference is in pools (I'm not an experienced miner and obviously I didn't get in NastyFans at the ground level).

Thanks!

Ok Im mining with bfgminer so where do I add PoP ??

Oh and is there any IRC where we can all meet and discuss ?

There isn't a place on IRC, but I am pretty responsive to PMs and we have a monthly live chat.  You want to add -PoP to the end of your Bitcoin address in your username.  For example, if I were mining on NastyPool, I would use the following settings:

Server: nastyfans.org:3334
Username: 168WXhArv7Fasqvi2xm5MQMfLhG18jifMe-PoP
Password: anything

Is it better to be on p2pool or on the nastypop ??

Long term it is the same. However, you will see less variance in payouts using the -PoP flag.

Nice!

Got some question. How can I contribute with hashing power. I did read on nastyfans but im not sure.
If I mine on nastyfans.org:9332 do I help nasty fans ??

And second question I bought a seat but do I need to buy a mint seat or a normal seat is ok ?

I also got free electrivty here (solar panel system) if I can host something let me know.

Cheers

Valkir

Yes, mining on nastyfans.org:9332 helps NastyFans.  Growing our pool is something that we're going to be putting effort into going forward.  Just make sure to use your Bitcoin address as your username to receive payouts.

You're a bit of a newbie to receive equipment.  I'm not sure what protections we could put in place to allow for less trusted members to operate miners for us.

Hi all!

Just bought 1 seat. Will buy more with time.

Is the nastyfans still running ??

As long as there is a blockchain, NastyFans will be running.  Wink

MINING UPDATE:
I've received our Monarchs from BFL.  I sent 2 of them to Bees Brothers and 1 of them exploded and shot coolant everywhere when plugged in.  I sent an email to BFL to see about getting it replaced again.  The other 2 are now up and running.  Also, upon doing some testing, 1 of the X3's is DOA.  I've emailed Black Arrow about getting a replacement PSU.  The other is packed up and ready to ship to Squirrel Dearing for him to operate.

How many watts do the x1's take?
Also how trusted must someone be to host one of these on behalf of Nasty Fans?

~90 watts. Potential operators will be judged on a case by case basis.

How does one go about applying to host one of these? Do they need to reside in America?

I'm not sure it would be worth paying for overseas shipping.
