I've been spending a lot (too many hours) of my time trying to keep our mining operation functional.  It appears today I lost the battle with another Monarch.  The radiator has started leaking, which is pretty much the end.  I'm going to play around with it to see if I can seal it myself and get it functioning again.  If I can't, the best bet may be to wait for BFL to start accepting RMAs again.  On that subject, lightfoot has received our Monarchs for repair and has already gotten one of them functioning (it had a "destroyed" radiator).

I received the replacement Prisma boards from ASICMINER.  1 of the 3 replacements was bad, but I have found someone locally who is returning their good boards for a refund and we are meeting later to make a bad/good swap.  I am fairly confident that I will be able to get it working once I have confirmed good boards.  That brings us to the question, do we want to keep the Prisma if it is working, or do we want to send it back and get our refund?  We'll end up losing about 0.2 BTC if we return it, but may never mine enough to make it worth keeping so I'm open to opinions on the subject.  I will update on this when I get it operating correctly.  Perhaps at that time a poll will be in order, as there is no end date on returning the Prisma yet.

Terms of repair are that Ognasty and/or Nastymining donates the amount they would have paid me for the repairs to a local food bank of your choice. I'll get to work on them when they come in and post the status and fun pics over in the hacking monarchs thread.

While that seems like an eternity for a Bitcoin entity to stick around without being hacked or disappearing, I look forward to remembering these as the early days.  

I've finally decided to quit waiting around for BFL and have sent our non-functioning Monarchs to lightfoot for repair.  I've also disassembled our Prisma to send the non-functioning boards to CanaryInTheMine to have them replaced, and have applied for compensation through ASICMINER.

I'll be placing an order to manufacture the below shirts sometime in the coming week with the hopes of getting them before Christmas.  They are going to be printed on heavy Hanes Tagless shirts.  I will also be throwing in a free T-shirt with every 5oz coin pre-order to try and get that project moving along.

A ray of hope for our poor little defective miner.  Hopefully this RMA goes smoothly, as that would go a long way towards restoring my faith in AM.  I've reached out to CanaryInTheMine to get specific instructions for what should be done.  I wasn't sure if I should be sending these back to Canary or AM directly since we participated in a group buy.



Understandable.  Glad to see you back on the pool.  Would be great to see some more USB Erupters on the pool as well.  Just remember to tell the boys to add add -PoP to the end of their Bitcoin address to take advantage of NastyPoP payouts. 

Sorry for the long absence from mining.  After blowing 3 psu's we stopped worrying about it and focused on school, bees, marching band, and hockey.

We finally got a new PSU last week.  We were out of town for part of last week, then swamped this weekend with Bitcoin Black Friday.  This morning one of the boys got two BFL miners connected and are running them for Nastyfans.

I think the boys will also pull out their small pile of USB Erupters and try out the PPS thingy nannakip has set up.  Looks fun nasty.
