When next it has indeed taken a long time until it was listed on other exchanges! And when would be communicated to vircurex before launch details so that they can prepare to manage the other exchanges not in such a short time;)

I would have an even better suggestion!
If you go with a smaller exchange, as for example vircurex what could negotiate, for example, that vircurex will be the exclusive - exchange for 1 month or so would be, they would take Nem determined at launch!
Nem is yes to fair distribution, as well as with the stakeholders, it should be also having a decentralized exchange!
That would really be a great launch!

Can't any exchange add whatever coin they like though? It's all open-source... What would stop any other exchange adding NEM?

I think a decentralised exchange (asset exchange) on release would be amazing. Then there'd be no need for NEM to be accepted on a centralised exchange to begin trading; it can happen immediately.

It would be great but you still need an exchange as a fallback.
Also there is a bounty open on a fiat to NEM Service which would be a huge deal since this is something I think no other crypto has (besides BTC and maybe LTC obviously).

It would be great but you still need an exchange as a fallback.

I am changing the front page to reflect the new ideas in the development plan. NEM is not planned to be a fork of NXT anymore but rather NEM code bases would be re-written completely based on the best ideas in Bitcoin and NXT plus its own innovations.
It is time we have a good looking front page for NEM. So let me know if you have a proposal for the nemcoin.info site. I like sites with a clean, minimalist design. Here are some sites samples that I like http://www.mastercoin.org/ ; http://info.nxtcrypto.org/ ; http://potcoin.info/
The site should belong to a NEM founder/ stakeholder who commits to NEM's future, it could be a group effort as well.

I ask because i think dgex.com for Next is a complete scam, whitout safety precautions!

I think dgex would be an obvious choice since it probably wouldn't be too much work to implement for Graviton (dude behind dgex) and Graviton afaik is supportive of NEM.
Obviously other exchanges should come but degex'd be a start.

Really? The trading platform is just terribad and I feel like I'm being raped by the fees for a fast withdrawal. Worst exchange ever.

I agree. We should just try to get NEM on a regular exchange. I hate DGEX so much.

I don't know if I like the whole globe thing. Using a globe is way overdone.
