... if you don't like the way funding for development is handled you can get a refund.

If you go through all the pages of shitcoins, where have you ever seen anything like that? Even ethereum doesn't make a guarantee like that.

That's why NEM is not ethreum Smiley To be fair, they have a more details on management side before they raise fund.

Or maybe I am not clear, the refund is only in a short period after the announcement.

Fundraising updates: As we are moving past page 70, I would like to announce a few updates going forward.

- Given the our targets in funding and the number of stakeholders, the fundraising will stop after page 90 of registration thread 2. After that there will be a public auditing of the stakeholder list based on the public information in the two registration threads including account names and transaction records. Every NEM stakeholders are invited to look at the records for mistakes and discrepancies; we will also apply the disclaimer "the development team reserves the right to refund you the money if an effort to unfairly accumulate NEM stakes is discovered" to refund big multi-accounters based on the taint analysis results. Details about this process will be published after the fundraising is over at page 90.

- Details about the management of development stakes as well as development fund will also be published after page 90. There will be a refund period after this announcement so if you don't like the way funding for development is handled you can get a refund.

- Promotional stakes will be open again but to veteran accounts (open before the fundraising and has activity >20) only.

- An interesting statistics about our stakeholders' population will be published soon.

Thanks for supporting NEM. We will be a great community.

this shape is very well thought through & logical.
nor to symmetric neither to asymmetric.

and guys please..
good logos are always an abstraction.
its not possible to grant PERFECT readability (If you work with letters at all) and at the same time have a logo with an incisive shape you actually REMEMBER. right?

In other words you cannot have the cake and eat it.
And imo the Abstraction/Readability-ratio is pretty much as good as it gets. (And ive tried a while myself)
In my Impression most people, including myself, read NEM and not something else.
Once you read "NGI" it of course sticks with you.

But just think of the NXT-logo for example^^
You could read almost anything into it (eg. XXT), and people are still fine.
Because its a good logo, that people REMEMBER.
Logo critic should be balanced and not overlook this context.

Look distinctive. Very well done. Look like we have a logo front-runner Smiley

I agree. This is really amazing.

Yeah I really like it too. Kind of hate to say it after spending a good couple of nights working on my last proposal but play4ce you really nailed it here with this retrofuturistic design.

So how much longer would it take to create a new coin from scratch, vs doing it base on the NXT code?

(Not a big question on my part, I'm just trying to get some discussion going on.)

NEX, which as far as I can tell, is creating a coin that is basically a clone of NXT is launching in early March:
Is there any expected schedule for NEX?

In 4 weeks.  Developers are busy working on the code right now.

NEM doesn't currently have a release schedule, but won't be launching in early march Smiley.

Correction,  NEX isn't going to even bother cloning NXT.  NXT isn't really a good base to build a foundation on.

That's why the NEM guys are building from scratch too.   Once you see the dirty laundry, you want to avoid it for good.

NEM is so called "No Envy" for a reason. We don't bad-mouth other cryptos and that's is probably something FC could learn from.

how many stakeholders now? seems around 2000,, are u still want more ? i think better control within 3000.
more people, less fun.

The more the merrier.

Just look at what Doge's massive enthusiastic userbase has accomplished with a coin that offers nothing technically innovative.

If you mean removing the circles from the middle grey one I agree.
It's however impossible for me to read NGI...how do you get that ?

Without sock-pup accounts there wont be 3000 imho. Where will we find all those unique users...
And dont forget that you can fund only one total newbie. It wont be easy to get that many people.
How many unique users are there now, I would say less than 300.

How do you come up with that number? There are at least 1000 unique veteran accounts in the stakeholder list. In the first 20 pages there are already more than 200 unique veteran accounts already. NEM is also attracting a lot of new members to this broad as well and they start participating in crypto starting here. If you follow the news here, I have been advertising massively in Doge reddit, as well as Reddit front page and there are more than 1000 click-though to NEM front page from Reddit. So 1000 is my guess but probably more  unique users than that but you should count it in the registration thread as it is public information.

Now I agree people have 2-3 accounts and possibly more are quite normal. But you should take your time and follow the fundraising rule requirements (mixing the coin properly to avoid taint analysis) and create 10 new accounts/ passwords/ move the money around to see how long and how much does it take. That would be the true costs of people having multiple accounts which is significantly more than having 1 account and 1 stake.

Sorry for my bad estimation, I honestly didnt think we already hit 1000 unique users, but if it is true it makes NEM IPO already a great succees.
This number should be better known in community, its much more powerful than 2500 potential sock-puppets.
I really respect your work UP.

I think it is very beautiful logo
Yeah, at first site I thought it was beautiful; but then, don't you think it looks like a sort of insect (head on the left side)?..

insect's not so good for coins .

Are there already services planned for NEM which will seperate the coin from other altcoins? I think in the end it will be down to what people can actually use their coins for.
If there will be a lot of useful (and I don't mean coin gambling sites) services around it, then I can see bright future for the coin.

The same for me. Also I am reading NGI instead of NEM. Maybe it would be better to post the logo and coin logo seperately without the other graphics around as it is distracting a bit from the single components.

This is Doge reddit ad "Envy no more. The first egalitarian coin. Join the movement. NEM registration is open." and it is still running with 70 comments and morethan 1370 click-though. The ad is still running so you can come by and drop a comment if you like.

TOTAL *   85,205   1,317   1.546%

This is Reddit front page ad "Proof of Stake and a Fair Start. The first egalitarian cryptocurrency. Join NEM to change the world". which just ended after running for 4 days.

TOTAL *   37,760   164   0.43% (well it is front page so it is more of a brand-awareness campaign)

We have an ad slated for Bitcoin subreddit as well.

Take a look at the history of the fundraising, people get in just by placing a reference link to our front page. There are now 100 or more of such links around the globe so new people can read about NEM and there is also world of mouth effect. My goal for the fundrasing is to spread NEM widely and evenly (but not perfectly even) and it has been largely successful so far.
There are still undisclosed promotional plans for NEM. This all fits with my vision of NEM's "parallel development". NEM founders/ stakeholders do not need to be core developers to help NEM's success. We are first of all a community/ movement and we should all act in a way to help NEM going forward.
