I have been running the Nem software successfully for a while now, and wondered - what does the 'Remote Harvesting' do?

  • Harvesting itself requires your private key (obviously, to sign blocks)
  • We wanted a way to harvest on a remote node in a secure manner
  • (cpt. obvious mode) It would be quite unwise to send your key to some third party :>
  • In order to do that (harvest on some remote node) you must "activate remote harvesting"
  • Then you can setup some remote node in settings, and start remote harvesting on that node (ofc most public nodes won't let you do that)

Between 4 and 5 you need to wait for 1440 blocks before it will become active.

There's also great technical analysis made by rigel: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2652.msg8904#msg8904

I seriously think that "remote harvesting" should be renamed "proxy harvesting" or "phantom harvesting". That is a more correct description. You are actually using a phantom or a proxy account to harvest. You are not doing it from "remote"

I like the name Proxy Harvesting.

REDEEM YOUR AE & BTT STAKES BEFORE NOVEMBER 22, 2014

CHEERS GUYS

See this is what I don't understand, ya'll keep saying this deadline but when I try to redeem my stake I get the error "That token has not been registered in time. You will need to claim after launch"
you missed the first phase. That's why you are getting that message and Why you will have to redeem after launch. If you had registered your token in phase 1 this step would be fine.

Ok so why say to redeem my stake if I cant till after release

That is for people who registered the token before the deadline and still have not redeem their stake, and also for people who still have their stakes in the NXT AE. If you read carefully it says redeem, not register.

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
Yes, we will be selling these for NEM. There's also a gold coin, too!

Additionally, we will probably end up giving a NEM silver coin to every stake holder in the nemesis block! A crypto first!

https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2667.0

After reading some of the thread on the NEM forum, are these silver coins being sold at cost or is there profit taking going to AltNemo ?
What will happen to the stakes that are converted to Nem silver on the AE?

Coins will be sold with a bulk discount, close to cost.

It is a lot of work to mint the coins. A holding company has to be created in Singapore and then that company has to handle all the money and deal with the mint (the Perth Mint won't deal with individuals), then handle attaching the cold wallets and shipping.

The goal, at least for me promoting this idea, is not to raise money for AltNemo, but to creating something of lasting value for all nemsters to own. Plus I think it will really help NEM in the future with marketing, etc. No other altcoin is even close to minting bullion coins at a quality mint and then sending them to everyone for free.

So How will we receive our NEM silver again? I lost track of that free silver for every stake holder postings.

When the NEM asset exchange is launched, everyone will get an asset redeemable for a silver coin (sounds like the old US silver certificates, so in a way this is a second, silver-backed digital currency that is fully fungible; in essence everyone becomes a stakeholder in both currencies).

Step into a world!! A P2P world!
Who else is getting Flash crashes in Firefox for the NEM wallet tab?
Sometimes NIS won't boot too, and/or the wallet amount shows as a non-number or not at all while it shows transactions underneath.

If this happend just some minutes ago, probably was cause the 120 tx/block. There was a lot of 120 tx blocks in a row.

This can make the computer get a little slow

On my linux machine, sometimes I need to reboot the PC. Usualle happens after an update.

Hey Devs would it be hard to add a feature where we can click on the senders address and have an option to send back to them instead of copying and pasting their address everytime.
That way all we have to do is paste our password and add the amount and hit send. ?

Somebody is selling 32 stakes on 40 000
clearance sale

The account holder seems an interesting player.

He can plays with the price, if he will sell everything, the price will fall down.

Well the real question is does he really want them or he is just a speculator? If he really wants them then he will redeem them. But it seems to me that he doesn't want them all since he is just lowering his price and hasn't redeemed them yet. He was at 100k, then at 50k, now at 40k. If he is just a speculator, he will cash them out before 22nd and then some people will get very cheap NEMStakes.  Smiley

he's probably buying a lot of cheap stakes while keeping the price low with his sell wall....
obviously after years of fake sell walls people it's still retard and sell Smiley.

I am not so sure. He is just a trader. Look at his trade history, he's been buying them since June. Many of them he bought under 20,000 NXT. He was just looking for a crazy price spike to profit. As for the wall, is it fake or not, well it is not fake. You take 1,2 million NXT now and you go and buy his sell wall.  Smiley

He is just trading, anyone doesnt seems to be buyin at the moment, which is quite strange. I'm seriously thinking to buy little more like 0.1 stake or 0.2, Am I the only with this kind of thoughts ?

I will buy too little bit 0,2-0,3. There also man who buy 6,8 on 28500.

Unfortunately I have a serious problem with accessing NEM Wallet, no matter if the standalone-version or browser-based. I am sure it is caused by my windows settings or by not sufficient equipped Java-components. NCC is starting, but NIS stuck always I try, giving an error like "unable to start application".
I have JavaUpdate 8.0.250 installed. Do I need more to run NIS? Or are there some specific system/browser settings I have to care about?

any suggestions would be much appreciated Smiley

It would be good if you can detail what OS you are working on, RAM, etc. It is hard for anyone to give you a suggestion if there is no information. Have you tried re-booting? Or have you gone to the Java Control panel to stop the rest of the Java instances if any?

Go to your processes and try and kill java.exe *32 and jp2launcher.exe *32.
Thank you rocket. Here's what I have: My OS is Windows7 with 8GB RAM and my processor is an I5-2410M. Of course I rebooted several times already.
I also tried to terminate both processes, didn't helped :/

BloodyRookie: thank you for looking into this too. But the folder /NIS/logs does not exist...

I hoped for that it is a well known and therefore easy to solve issue, which already several people had Wink

No NIS log .oO? can you open a command window, maximize the window, start NIS and then make a screenshot? I need the exact error message to get an idea what is wrong.
