Brace yourself fork coming at 36500

Why a fork? Is this corrections or is this a evolution of NIS? Is this for the client 0.4.28?

Another question: When the blockchain restart for real Nem, will we have the necessity of always change  the client?

=)

"We further improved the performance of NIS. As a result we increased the number of transactions allowed per block to 120 from Block 36500 on. This will result in a fork, so be sure to upgrade!"

I've received a token in my private messages, but have not done anything since. Is it too late to claim my stake?

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but you will have to redeem after launch and there is a 25% penalty for being late. At least, I'm pretty sure that's the case anyway.

From where the NCC/Harvester takes that private key?
It takes it automatically by itself ... I have not given/defined any key for it Smiley

read rigel's thread for details Smiley

When we created the Real account data for the redemption,
then was shown the pub and private key.
After the launch we will use that private key for harvesting with our actual account, right or wrong?

I have been running the Nem software successfully for a while now, and wondered - what does the 'Remote Harvesting' do?

  • Harvesting itself requires your private key (obviously, to sign blocks)
  • We wanted a way to harvest on a remote node in a secure manner
  • (cpt. obvious mode) It would be quite unwise to send your key to some third party :>
  • In order to do that (harvest on some remote node) you must "activate remote harvesting"
  • Then you can setup some remote node in settings, and start remote harvesting on that node (ofc most public nodes won't let you do that)

Between 4 and 5 you need to wait for 1440 blocks before it will become active.

There's also great technical analysis made by rigel: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2652.msg8904#msg8904

For the record, I have been doing a lot of toying with NIS on small VMs and I wouldn't do anything less than 512MB for the folks considering Pi, just my 2 cents. On a long enough time line you get plenty of objects in memory in your JVM after chatting with lots of nodes for a while Wink.

Btw, for those of you running standalone, there is small (but messy) readme.txt inside.
There's option to change cache size for db, and in start scripts there are options to change heap size for JVM.

Does it mean that by changing this setting we can limit the memory usage of NIS?!
When I was running NIS it took about 1.15 GB of
memory which is too much if I want to install it on a small VPS.

The NCC took about 0.35 GB of memory.
All together was behaving very good  and was very stable as I have 3GB of memory on my computer.
Congratulations to the developers you did very nice job I'm pleased.

The only concern that I have is that the database data is already at about 190 MB and
and the chain block height is not that big is only about 35000 blocks.
So the database size looks big already for the amount of blocks.
This could increase exponentially very fast if NEM gets wide adoption.
