ok no luck.. i dont know what the hell is wrong that it wont work.. :/ allowed the port in the firewall settings, didnt work, turned off the firewall - didnt work, router settings didnt work.. :/

edit:

martismartis, netgear (ssid)AirCard-4210

just had a look online and one site, in relation to white listing, is showing ports like "http=port80". is that the way it is supposed to be entered or just as "7890" with out the http=?

no worries if i cant get it working, il just bring it into college and someone will know how to fix it..

i will take a look at the netgear (ssid)AirCard-4210 docs a little later and then tell you what to do (you are running windows?).

This is the first time I really got the chance to test NEM. All I can say is that I'm amazed. The developers have done absolutely stunning job, and I'm sure NEM will be a very viable competitor for BitCoin.

We are going to the moon with fair distribution and big development fund. Smiley

P.S. Also, what does it mean that my node is misconfigured? I can see my transactions went through, so how does it affect me? Can't harvest?

You can send and you can harvest, no problem. It means your computer does not actively help distributing transactions and blocks in the network.
To do that your router needs to forward port 7890 to the computer that is running the node. Also the firewall should let incoming and outgoing request on port 7890 pass.

Somebody send me 88,888 Test NEM, please.
Thanks in advance.

Sent some NEM.

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot about that rule. (Although, I think surely that rule should not apply to us here as this is just a testnet... but better safe than sorry I suppose.)

So are the accounts made on this beta software the accounts we can use to receive real NEM? Smiley

Browsing the logs I see the following nodes being misconfigured:

Node [mak ]
Node [kullikalli ]
Node [nemz ]
Node [jk ]
Node [Kuching ]
Node [mainroot ]
Node [nemx ]
Node [PCPLACE ]
Node [Is Ours ]
Node [bluedude ]
Node [ZORGnode ]
Node [cocks ]
Node [XeqtorNode ]
Node [fRames6 ]
Node [xtester ]
Node [jorma ]

You can check if your node is correctly configured (i.e. port 7890 gets forwarded to your computer) by using patmast3r's "check nis tool":

http://chain.nem.ninja/checknis

or if you want to check a specific ip address

http://chain.nem.ninja/checknis/?ip=123.456.789.012

Only nodes that are correctly configured are real supporters of the network.
Also, correctly configured nodes can receive a private key for a 50M NEM beta nemesis account.

do i allow "port forwarding" and then enter the port number and an ip? address or do i "white list" the port number in "port filtering" or is it something else? cant find what to do with the port number after im told my node isnt set up

If you whitelist that port it should be enough.
If whitelisting does not work configure portforwarding for 7890 and the ip of the machine NIS is running on and the same port on that machine.
I'm not sure how versed you are in these things so I'll add this without wanting to offend you.
The machine your forwarding to will not have the ip you're usually seeing when you're surfing the internet and check your ip. It will most likely look like 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1.

ok..

i went to ipconfig in cmd and it gives me ipv4 and default gateway that only have the last digit different.. which is it? they both look the same as the latter ip you posted.

Your PC ip is ipv4 in the list after ipconfig command is executed.
The login to your router and make port 7890 forwarding to your ipv4 address.
Wait a little and it should work.

i tried that and my internet gets "limited" and doesnt work after i forward anything..

What is your router? Exactly make.

It's not the default GW it's the other one. The default GW should be your router and you need the IP of the machine NIS is running on.

still not workin.. udp or tcp? it was set default tcp..

iv tried ipv4, public ip got from a website, DG, white listing and forwarding. no luck.. Sad

I think tcp is used but I'm not sure as udp would also make sense.
Have you tried also specifically allowing that port for incoming in the windows firewall ?

With regards to the problem that the popup in the gui which displays the real account data cannot be selected for copy & paste (which some users reported):

This is only an issue when using Firefox. We are aware of it and will fix it in the next release. You can use Chrome to have the ability to copy & paste the data.

Hey,

I have run into trouble with creating "real account data".

When I'm creating real account data, it tells me that the Address will be NAXVB7-J4U7KI-BQAX64-2JDUS2-BOIEJR-ELY2VS-IVUA, but when I enter the private key into "Add existing account", it tells me that my address is TAXVB7-J4U7KI-BQAX64-2JDUS2-BOIEJR-ELY3TF-4JFV.

Why is there such a difference? Or is creating real account data separate from the Beta release?

As xtester already stated, the T stands for testnet and N for the real live net. The reason for the end part of the address being different is that this is a checksum which has the "T" respectively the N" incorporated and thus gives a different value.

Will hopefully announce something about that TODAY.
In the meatime create your real address with the BETA and wait for instructions Smiley

thanks for informing , I will do the real address creation, and wait for next detail.
