Technically, your NEO is on the blockchain, the (encrypted) private keys to access your NEO addresses are on the Ledger Nano S. As long as nobody else gets a hold of your private keys/passwords/seeds/pins your coins are safe.

NEX will be a security. ETF's have been trying to get over the line for years - literally, not sure why everyone was so convinced it was happening this month. Also NEX will be a security which can attract regulated institutional money and is only on NEO.

I think the main reason might be that the block time seems to have gone up. It used to be around 20 seconds and now it hovers around 25 seconds. Not sure why though.

No doubt that it is buying time but problem is shortage of money to buy with. This is summer which is vacations time and those who invested already are in minus and remained with hands to mouth due to unexpected bear market which isn't showing any sign of recovery. How many people can really afford to pick up more tokens now after this long uncertainty.

I think thats the way it is, ROI of gas is decrease over time, and their supply is limited also, just the Neo supply
