If a lot of coins you have to follow the social networks of all projects not to miss anything important. And if at the same time you have also the main work that time catastrophically isn't enough.  It would be much easier to have 3-5 coins in the crypto portfolio. But this is not our method  Grin

That situation with "miss  swap and lose your coins" is very painful. Of course investors should keep eye for their coins, but i still think it is unfair. If you spend money to buy this coin you must have opportunity to swap  tokens whenever you want without any time limits. That will be fair.

this is one of the problems of holding too many coins, you lose track on them and then you lose money. what i suggest is to make a reminder for a weekly/2 weeks checkup on the activities and updates of the coin you are holding.

So, as you guys know, most coins will do swap when they perform blockchain upgrades or changing the coins to to a new coin

I just forgot about one of my coins and the swap was ended in the 31st of December
and guess what?

I just lost 0.3 btc because of it
God damn this is so painful

Been holding the coins since 2 year ago in the ICO stage
Never make such mistake guys remember
Damn that sucks mate, i usually have a notepad in my laptop about which tokens that i hold and always check it time by time. That's why i always remember which coins i hold. Well too much coins is also not good like what you said, because sometimes you can't forgot about the coins that you hold.

This is true and it's really sad, especially when swaps occur. Losing ones invested cash out of ignorance isnt a funny experience, I know. It's not even enough trying to write out all the coins one has on paper or follow them up on blockfolio. No, that won't alert anyone of a swap. The best option is following all the telegram groups or the Twitter handles of all the coins one has. That way, one will be abreast with all the happenings therein.
Though such actions needed time but it's best to monitor your assets, following their channels to make sure updates will not passed on your sight, it's your money that in stake you better to make sure you have all the important matters that you needed to know about the development of each tokens.

This is really true that it's hard to monitor the progress of the coins you have if you have a lot to monitor.
Holding for long needs you to be aware of what is happening on every project you invested, OP lost a lot of money as he failed to swap his tokens before the deadline.

Actually I have a lot of coins here in my portfolio, some of them I earn through bounty and I have not really monitored it since I also loss interest due to a big dump of its value.

What a regretful experienced. That coin swapping I've experienced before is totally fine and I did all the necessary things to do. Since I do not hodl many altcoins so I can monitor and track down all of them. Also, I do not kept them longer and I do altcoin trading as a day trader. That is the disadvantages of having so many altcoins and with long term trades.

this is not a matter of how many coins we have because everything depends on us, if we have a lot of coins, we must keep up with the development of each coin so if there is something like "swap" then we still get information of the development of projects

You are right. You lost track of potential coins and probably some profits when holding too much coins. And some coins will be lost totally in the process. This often occur when some coins are swapping or migrating to mainnet and one isn't aware until the swap window is closed. If you are holding many beyond 10, then be ready to follow up all of them.

If you want to avoid forgetting your cryptocurrency coins then you can use some portfolio application for cryptocurrency. Blockfolio is one of the most well known cryptocurrency portfolio tracker and you can use that to monitor your cryptocurrencies and to help you to see the prices and other small details regarding to the cryptocurrency that you have invested in.
I have also been using blockfolio for a while now and I can really testify to what you have said, this app is really very good in keeping record of ones holding and giving live update on them. One good think I also like about blockfolio is that, you can get some tokens that are not even listed in coinmarketcap on it and will point one to the direction where the coins are being trader.

Even with all these solutions blockfolio has brought, it still may not completely solve the problem, as the only problem is not just forgetting the token or coin entirely, but also forgetting the access details to where the coin is being held. I have an exodus wallet right now, where I have 10% of my coins and I cannot remember the details and not able to even recover it.

That is why it is very necessary to a multi-coin wallet that can holds majority of your token so that you can keep track of them without missing out on any important details that may occur with the coin(s),
i know some people would s ay it is not good to keep your egg in one basket but i found it more easy and less stressful to have everything under one control than to split in different places that could also result to loss if you happens to forget.

You are right, more coins more responsibility to follow up on them. These days I have to swap 4 coins :
MAN, REBL, BNB, ZIL.  If you miss the swap you could lose your coins.

If you are holding many altcoins just keep track on each one of them, this happened  to you because you refused to keep track on them, I have no problem checking on my coins most times

Let me ask you one thing. Let's say you are holding 100 different tokens. Is it possible for you to check the news regarding all these coins on a daily basis? This is one of the difficulties that I faced earlier. And in case you are not tracking the latest developments, then you may miss out on opportunities for profit booking or to limit losses.
And that’s why experts have said it already, don’t put your hands in all holes. This literally have super realistic results. People who become greedy or they assume themselves as sharp traders, get so much burden on them by indulging in different schemes. Hence, they lack information and recent updated facts so results are obvious. What you really expect the outcome to be? Do whatever you can hold easily.

I understand your situation
But instead of not buying too much coins

Why not use an eth wallet and safeguard your portfolio in a single wallet ?
It’s safer that way

So bad that lose the coins because of the swap, anyway is better to check always if possible the site and the announcement if there is any to see if there will be some modify for the coins.
This can really be too tasking checking the coin from time to time about an update on them, take for example me, I have too many altcoins that if I keep checking for update on them, I will end up not doing anything with my time.

The only method I have employed this year is just to participate in very few coins that I am sure are very worth it and I can keep an eyes on, this way, it will be easier for one to know what is going on with such project, imagine someone with about 250 coins, how would the person be able to monitor such coin, I am sure some people would have even forgotten some of their portfolio, especially some of the campaign that made it mandatory to hold the coin on their own exchange.

poor u bro. I often have a logbook of essentials and check it daily. Although you may not have sold or bought some altcoins yet. But that will help you remember and not happen unfortunate losses. I used to lose a lot of money because I forgot them for a while. So the best way is to note them

thats your fault then
holding coin mean you not skip any news that comes from their social media or group telegram or web
holding need strategy and information not only holding and leave it on wallet

Of course, you cannot be blind and deaf when you choose altcoins to invest in them. You must read about them much and listen to the news that refers to the cryptocurrencies. Then you will decide how many alts you need.
