I think they might be delaying stats, I just transferred coins from guild to my client and it worked fine....

This shit needs to stop, my miners are going somewhat idle and not generating enough heat so my room is getting cold  Cry

Wouldn't merely allowing difficulty increases greater than 4x fix the forking problem in a single difficulty increase?

What's this about people getting k-lined from freenode? How can mining *coins have anything to do with an IRC network?

The original bitcoin client code uses the freenode network to find peers to connect to so... Cheesy

Why doesn't the I0 Guild blockchain get overwritten by the blockchain with already 3600 blocks? Or are they delaying stats?

Interesting - the infrastructure can't handle a wide public announcement until the difficulty is high enough to prevent all the blockchain forking.

Solution is to set the starting difficulty high enough to prevent early adopters from making easy fortunes, but low enough to not be a barrier to entry.

I wonder what the magic number is.

A bit of a disaster but I think this is a lesson that needed to be learned.

It is a good experiment and fun to watch it unfold.  Part of the question about having a target block generation period of less than 10 min is a bad idea was the amount of forking that would take place. With such low difficulties, the effect is probably multiplied and would serve as data for anybody else planning to change the target interval.

This is disappointing.  Oh hey look, you have a balance of 1000+ I0coins.  SIKE!  Just kidding!

BTC guild said I have 106 IOC now. I found that using CGminer will have more share than GUIminer with Phoenix miner.

one of my card running  CGminer and got 7 share since difficult 1 till now.
two of others running GUIminer with Phoenix got none. All stale.

Donate some IOC to me if you think it's working. jWYbNEwWJ1mqFKb5sut781auW6343AhK8Z

Either btcguild is lagging really far behind, or the chain has already been forked going considerably far back. They're still showing themselves as winning every block, which I can see isn't the case. Their block count from their pool server is also lower than what my client is showing.

The site is probably not keeping up with the block generation. It is updated on a 1 minute interval and with multiple new blocks every second, that's a 120 blocks lag at least.

True, but if you go far enough back they're showing full confirmations on blocks that don't match what my client sees. I think they've forked off into their own world entirely.

maybe they disconnected and will reconnect at higher difficulty when they have overtaken the solos

okay, but where the fuck are my shares going to then?

i have like 40 new shares and btcguild is reporting none of them
