I think what I mentioned a few posts above yours. Before your block was fully confirmed (>100-120 confirmations), an alternate block chain (probably BTCguild's own view of the winners) managed to get more confirms than the chain your block was in.

And for those of you wondering why a single pool getting >50% of the network's hash rate, consider this an example of what they could do. Smiley

it looks like it's about 3 shares/block right now on i0.btcguild.com

Every single one shows 1 to me...

Also, what the hell is going on ? I0Guild is saying it has been 18 mins since the last block :S

I'm just watching because I was curious to see how the network/protocol would behave in this situation.

It looks like from look at btcguild's block page, they believe they're finding ALL the blocks from their perspective. In periods where they're finding >50% of the blocks, they're effectively coming up with their own block chain where they're the winner to everything. When they don't manage to muscle out everyone else, they end up losing their whole forked chain.

Is this right? Anyone with more experience with how the block collision scheme works could probably answer this better, but it's kinda interesting to watch the debug log showing the battles.

The longest blockchain will eventually win, so if i0.btcguild has more hashrate than all the soloers and doesn't connect to everyone until later, they will grow a longer blockchain that will orphan all the solo miners generated coins, as previously detailed by me.

stop i0coind then run "i0coin.exe -server" instead

For all current bitcoin/forks, you can start the client with the -server flag instead. This will allow you to solo mine and use the GUI client at the same time.

Awesome, thanks.

Does the full blockchain have to load before solo mining works?

My client only has 1066 blocks but I see over 1600 at btcguild.

Should i just wait until my client catches up (if it can)?

8 connections btw

Yeah, hawk i believe so.

If I have solo mining up and running, is that preferable to using i0guild at this time?

How can I tell if I find a block? I started i0coind.exe, but when that's running, I can't run the regular client at the same time.

stop i0coind then run "i0coin.exe -server" instead

Crap, I need some IP address to bootstrap, since it looks like I got the IRC k-line too and I'm dead in the water with 2 connections...

Post some IPs from the IRC channel or your firewall connection log please!

Or if you have more than 8 connections, upload your addr.dat file to mediafire.com (it has the ip addresses of other network clients) and share or pm please!
