Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

I was wondering about the restrictions.... I wanted to help a guy out in another forum thread and couldn't reply to him Sad  This clears it all up!  Thanks!

while the theory makes sense, you also end up with a 336 page long threaded reply used to help people pad their post counts just to gain access.  (which I'm guilty of now doing) Which likely isn't adding much to the community.  But perhaps its still much better than the alternative.  Spammers suck.

I spent about 15 min looking and waiting for a verification email that would allow me to post.

What do you get an email before you are allowed to go to the other boards?!

ouch... four hours of active forum activity before being freed from newbdom.  It's gonna be a long night, sifting through god-only-knows how many garbage posts to find the interesting stuff.

I'd better get started  :/

Dear Moderator, Some excellent secure rules for new users I see. Better to have a lot of aggression in security than chaos. I wish to take part in some discussions here, can I get my permissions level elevated to do such?

This is a long thread! I think the restrictions are maybe a bit high, but they do cut down on spam.
