Hello i am New in bitcoin mining i want to ask if the GekkoScience Compac F is the best mini usb miner? I know GekkoScience have also better ones but not with only 15w i want try lottery mining with it.
Do i need to run my pc with the USB miner together or can it run standalone? I mean it need Internet or is it with wifi?
If it has wifi and it can run standalone can i usw a USB charger that supports 15w or do i need a USB hub?
If it works not standalone what do you use to run it? Can i use raspberry pi3 or raspberry zero w? I ask because of energy costs.

And for better understanding the GekkoScience Compac F can mine 300 - 500GH a RTX 3090 only 120 MH? Means 0.12GH?

You will need a computer, the Compac F doesn't have WIFI. You need a computer with cgminer installed on it.

It is difficult to say if the Compac F is the best usb miner, but yeah, it is an excellent one (a block was already found with one some months ago). You can have a look on Gekkoscience R909 too, if offers more hashrate. Gekkoscience products are stable and reliable, they are excellent.

You can also check the DIY project named Bitaxe, it runs standalone, and they are actually starting to sell the first batch (you can build them yourself or buy them already assembled). But we actually don't know if they are as stable as Gekkoscience's products.

For the USB hub related question, you should definitely use a strong USB hub with a Compac F, the USB port of a Raspberry Pi would probably don't offer enough power if you want to overclock your USB asic.

Hi all,

Has anyone here ever hooked up a Futurebit power supply to the GS hub? The PSU has two PCIE-connector and the usb hub only needs one. Is it okay to just plug in the one connector or will that be bad news for the hub?

We are not retail.
419mining and MineFarmBuy both offer a rock-solid 8A brick alongside the GS hub. It's not included by default because the GS hub can work off an ATX supply also, and can handle higher power than an 8A brick will provide if you ask it nicely.

I think we can amend our listings to include a brick on it's own. As always special requests can be taken anytime.

The best hubs I can recommend are the Sipolar 10 Port USB hub (comes with power supply + cables) or the Gekkoscience 8 Port USB hub (cables but no power supply):

While I cannot personally speak for the Moonlanders, there are 2 uses of hubs on this thread for that device.  See below.

New here, new to the 2pac.   But glad to see this miner still has active discussion.

I have 4 2pac's
I have an Anker 7port powered 3.0 that I currently use for 2 Futurebit Moonlanders and an Artic Breeze and they work great on it.

i bought one of these under the advisement of a buddy- he is running 10 moonlanders in one of these and said for me to get one to run my five 2pacs

Don’t know quite where to post this question, but I’ll give it a shot here.  I have 4 Moonlander 2s I wish to run.  I’ve seen some recommended powered USB hubs on this site, but I don’t wish to spend $165 that I’ll never recover. Was wondering if this hub I found on Amazon might work.  Any help is much appreciated!

I got the pluggable 7 port hub from 419 Mining.  Good starter hub.  Comes with everything you need and can run 4 overclocked NewPacs with proper cooling.

Edit:  Apparently I didn't read good enough before...  The Plugable can only handle 3 NewPacs.  I just ordered the GekkoScience hub from 419 with 8 amp brick and fan setup.  Should have done it right the first time.  Smiley

the hub uses a 60 watt brick so

.8 x 60 = 48 x .9 = 43.2 watts  if you are lucky  it should do 4-5 sticks.  does not sidehack still sell his hub?  His hub is pretty nice.

Hello.

I got my second NewPac, but seems like my ORICO powered hub is having problems, as the miners keep restarting and never reach clock above 250Mhz.

I guess I need new power brick.

What do you guys think about this one? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K4LYX7U. How many NewPacs can it possibly get going?

Thanks!

That conversation is probably more appropriate for a different thread. This'n is specific to stickminers and hubs that are good for them.

Hi! Thank you Smiley One module costs around $450, we have already ordered a 10 separate housing for the modules. In order to send them to the reviews of journalists or people who can do a review and publish
