LOL, this bullrun looks pathetic for GPU miners haha

last cycle: we bought the biggest and baddest GPU (1080ti), and then we scratch the buying/building itch by buying one after the other.

this cycle: shuffle on mid range GPU?  Grin

Actually this is better.  So far it appears to have way more staying power this way.

I rather a forced slow gear acquirability for miners than too much too soon.

I think the gpu shortage and chip shortage it preventing the diff from growing to 650th

Last I looked we were at 440th

if that's actually the case...for me, I also appreciate the situation hehe  Cheesy

Well it is easier to think this if you have 60+ cards mining with most fully paid off.

And if you still have some older generation cards running, it takes more time for them to become phased out/out classed/not profitable/not worth the space and time-due to higher efficiency/hashrate of "new generation" cards.

Last I looked we were at 437th on Sun the 7th of march 2021

On June 8 2020 we were at 185th
from below
https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

so 437/185 = a factor of 2.362

prices from below

https://etherscan.io/chart/etherprice

march 10 2021 =  1795
June 8.     2020 =   244. a factor of 7.356

gas from this chart

https://etherscan.io/chart/gasprice

41 gwei June 8 2020

134 gwei March 10 2021.  a factor of 3.268

so 3.268 x 7.356 = 24.03/ 2.362 = 10.177 x  better to mine now. Than June of 2020

Cards accordingly became more valuable.

I listed this sale in marketplace to illustrate either poor forward thinking or good forward thinking by Bitcointalk miners.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/sold-feeler-bids-or-offers-for-evga-3080-msicorsair-1080ti-seahawk-sold-5320394

I am basically offering a free 1080ti along with an expensive 3080 no takers so far.  The deal would be 2100 to 2200 hundred vs 2900-3100 on ebay.

I listed this offer and no one took it.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/i-have-a-5700xt-coming-next-week-new-in-box-feelers-for-selling-it-5308136

The 5700 xt xfx is now pretty much a winner. Since it has mined for 60 days  making 4.50 profit each day or 270 back.  So people were not confidant in buying it at 600 vs 900 on ebay.

So a poor decision by the market on the xfx 5700 xt offered by me.

Fear of losing out by paying a mark up hurt someone that could have grabbed it.

Back to today no gear for you is the general message all over the world.  I think this will extend the run a long time. As it creates the perception that value exists.

2021 will be the most amazing bull run we have ever seen.

yesterday day a grabbed an evga 3080  3897 for 1300 six months to pay.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=10G-P5-3897-KR. it is 880 plus 61 tax or 941

So I was marked up 359 usd is this stupid on my part. well in 40 days I will have earned the marked up back and in 100 more the card is free.

I laid out 0 cash have 6 months to pay it off. I would buy this card again if offered this deal.

I say keep the card shortage going.

BTW Phil I remember you posted links to sound proofing blankets somewhere but I have searched and searched trying to find them.  Can you share a link.

Thinking I am going to have to do something about the rigs in the bedrooms.  I have them near windows, with window fan set to exhaust all their hot air out.  Temps have been fine but its the noise.  Thinking about getting one of those grow tents and throwing a sound proofing blanket over it.

Yeah do these two

setup would be

[gear] [fire blanket ][radiant barrier][moving blanket] is best
[gear] [fire blanket][moving blanket] is second best
{Gear}{radiant barrier}{moving blanket}  is third best

if you skip fireblanket make sure to point the silver part of the radiant barrier at the gear. as it is heat resistant.

the only bad setup is moving blanket alone as they may not be fire resistant.

Thanks Phil.  I actually have those blankets from my recent move.  I have one rig in an empty bedroom but it has Vega's in it which are really loud.  I have another rig and some of sidehack's  r606 in the garage that I am going to need to move as its starting to get too warm in there for them.  Going to try and devise something to quiet both of the mining rigs.

Okay then get a few fire blankets

do rigs >> fire blankets >> moving blanket

a tent or a curtain setup will help

Fireblankets arriving tueesday.  I'll post pics on the experiment.

I have done lots of rigs in the garage and got decent results for under 100 bucks worth of Fire + Moving blankets.

'The right to privacy matters'
I think the reason why the hashrate is so high up is not the amount of GPUs or ASICs being produced being added to the network but its the old GPUs which were never mining start to mine for the first time.

People either are seeing crazy profits and decide to mine themselves with Nicehash or they see the crazy amounts of money people are selling their GPUs for on Craigslist and eBay so they decide to sell their GPU at a great price and either wait a few months to buy some newer and better GPU or just stop gaming all together. Or game with some old GPU they had laying around. Then that GPU which was never mined before, finally starts mining and adds to the hashrate.

There is truth to this.  Eth is back to 1720 today.  I still think it can top 3k in the next 3-6 months.
