I have never had a problem buying/selling/trading in person.  Mostly on Craigslist.

Items I have sold:

Cars
Generators
Transfer switches
Large fish tanks
Air Compressor
Metal brake

Items I have purchased:

Large fish tanks
Generators

Items I have traded:
9mm Glock for a metal brake

All were really nice people, including the guy that I traded my 9mm to.  Maybe I just got lucky...

I have also sold a bunch of GPUs, but those were all on eBay and [H]ardforum.  Out of about 40 GPUs sold on eBay, I had issues with 2 of the buyers, but in both cases eBay/PayPal ruled in my favor.

Last month eBay has me convert to link my account to my checking account, cutting out PayPal as the middle man.  I think that will be a good thing, but we'll see.

You don't need to meet at a police station or tell the guy coming over you got guns at your place. If you are paranoid just meet at any bank. There should be a bank around any corner. And banks have security cameras everywhere and some might even have a security guard there. They can't kick you out, if they do, go to the ATM and withdraw a $20 and you are essentially a customer.

I think when dealing with strangers online alot depends on what you are selling. I've sold tons of items in the past on Craiglist and the worst I think is iPhones. You sometimes meet very sketchy people that way. When it comes to mining equipment or computer products most of the people you meet are generally kids or nerds.

I agree with this.  As long as its not phones or shoes or designer clothes, most of the time there won't be problems.  I think facebook Marketplace is especially good considering you can see the person's name and profile beforehand.

Shoes and Designer clothes? Really. Never would of guessed that. I am assuming that its mostly young women who buy that stuff, didn't think it was considered risky selling those.

I think besides iPhones the worst is most likely cars. Whether you are selling or buying one. When selling, you have no idea what kind of weirdo will show up. Generally they know where you live unless you want to meet somewhere public, and even then they usually want at least a test drive. If you don't allow a test drive most likely they won't buy it. If you allow the test drive, what if they pull out some gun or knife inside the car? And if they let them test drive it alone, what if they never come back.

With buying a car, the risk is whether the ad is real or fake. Could be a fake ad saying "Bring cash and car is yours for $1000", you show up. No cars and the person knows you got $1000 cash on you. Very common scam that goes on.

Do you guys sell these GPUs at these high mark ups in person or online? I don’t think I would be able to sell them in person at a high mark up. Online it’s different. But when you are doing the transaction in person I couldn’t look the other person in the eye while charging him 50-100% mark up.

I would feel ashamed for taking advantage. And if I was a buyer paying a high mark up I also wouldn’t have a pleasant look on my face knowing that I am paying a huge premium to this individual who was lucky enough to find some in stock.
I never mark up at ebay prices.

on ebay 1 1080ti and 1 3080 is running for 2900 + tax.

in my listing I ask for a bid from 2100 to 2500

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/sold-feeler-bids-or-offers-for-evga-3080-msicorsair-1080ti-seahawk-sold-5320394

so you could get it 800 cheaper than ebay.  I am not ashamed to take that much profit.

But frankly face to face scares me on any high priced sale. My fear is the guy wants to stick me up.

Meet at a police station. Some have an entrance area with an officer sitting behind some glass. Just meet up there and you will be safe.

This is why I meet at a friends house whom owns a LOT of firearms for protection;
Or I meet in a local PD parking lot to do the transaction.

I have done the gas station meetup;  but only at ones I know are covered with security cameras and that are very busy...   I haven't been robbed yet (knock on wood).

Online.  I don't have the time to go meet people face to face in a safe place to do a transaction.  I also have to collect and remit sales tax in my state and it's to much of a hassle as no buyer wants to pay sales tax face to face.

There is nothing to be ashamed of and no one is getting taken advantage of.  I offer a high level of customer service and price my products at the market rate.  The buyer's I have appreciate the fact they know they will get what they ordered, in a timely manner, and shipped safely.

The time and effort put into acquiring a hard to find, highly sought after item is appreciated and worth paying extra for to my buyers.  No one has to buy from me as I am selling a luxury item.

The Walmart by me has no other grocery store for 2-3 miles and charges 50% more for milk and other food staples than the one close to Publix.  I think that is worse but I can still drive a bit to save some money or pay the extra for saving the time of buying close.

I can price my items and the buyers can decide if they want to purchase.  If I didn't grab items when I can someone else will and that seller may not give the same high level of customer service that I do.

So if you guys got any old motherboards laying around, even a decade old, throw them on Craiglist or FB marketplace and you will get top dollar for them.

This is the best moment to sell hardware, compared to 2017 this is bigger than before

I bought a 3080 MSI but with 3 power connectors and huge card, I decided to sell, I paid 1150 USD, and sold in a few hours for 1750 USD, 600 USD just for a card, no need to mine, configure or wait

Yesterday I put a 5700xt to sell and they offered me 925 USD, so I decided to sell, it's months of profits.

I'm thinking of selling 50% of my cards, be in a good profit and continue to mining with 1 or 2 small rigs.

I think we are in the peak of hardware prices, don't know yet about cryptos prices

I thought this was true last month.
I actually think we may get higher prices.
Due to lunar newer delays yet to show here, they will show for 2 weeks starting Monday the 1st.

I did do a listing here.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/sold-feeler-bids-or-offers-for-evga-3080-msicorsair-1080ti-seahawk-sold-5320394

if I was to get 2100 it would be about 140-160 days of what these would earn.

Prices are pretty high right now.  Supply is gonna dry up some next month but in order for it to go much higher I think we need those $1,400 stimulus checks to come.

Last week I sold the 2 $599.99 Asrock 5700xt's that I got from Newegg off a link in this thread for $900 each.  I likely could have got more $ as others were asking over $1,000.  I wanted a quick sale and that covers this month's electric bill.

I didn't think it would sell quickly but I got $1175 for a Gigabyte Aorus Master 3070 in less than 1.5 hours.  Over $1k for a MSI 3060 TI sold in less than 30 minutes and the buyer thanked me for a reasonable price.  Crazy but he was right.  Others are listing at $1,300

Last week was the first week I wasn't able to score a 3000 series card.  I scored 5 1660 supers which I plan on selling.

In some of the discords I am in the bot's that are actually working to get cards are now selling for $3,000 for a single key.  The market is saturated and it's tough to get a manual order in right now even on Best Buy drops or last gen cards.  You need to be good with setting up and managing a bot to even score cards now.

I ordered a 1000 w Seasonic PSU which will replace a 750W corsair and allow me to add 1-2 more cards to my 6 gpu open air rig.

One thing that is different on this last drop of BTC is that we did not see a jump in ETH to BTC ratio like we did last BTC drop.  Don't know what that means going forward but people taking BTC profits didn't rotate it into ETH this time around.  A jump to .04 btc for eth would keep hardware high.

So I am liquidating most of my old computer equipment. Most of my GPUs are sold. So decided to sell my PSUs however to my surprise they aren't good sellers. Turns out there is no shortage of PSUs, you can buy them everywhere pretty much.

So decided to sell some motherboards however looking online seems they are in stock either. However I decided to try and sell them anyways. And to my surprise they are flying off the shelves. And I am not talking about high end gaming motherboards. I am talking about 10 year old AM3 and Socket 1155 motherboards.

People are buying them like crazy. And whats crazy is they are buying them with the cheap Sempron and Celeron processors. Why?

Well it turns out that motherboards aren't in low supply, but the CPUs for the newer motherboards are sold out. So why buy a motherboard that you can't use because you can't get a CPU for it.

So if you guys got any old motherboards laying around, even a decade old, throw them on Craiglist or FB marketplace and you will get top dollar for them.

Phil can you elaborate on what Octopus is?  Is it a different mining protocol, or a different crypto altogether?

Do we know if any newly manufactured cards outside of the 3060s will be throttled?  I don't know if new 1660 ti's are still being manufactured, for example, but if they are, are we thinking they will be throttled then?

you are smos to nicehash you use phoenix 5.4 to mine eth and nice hash converts to  btc.

you would use smos to nice hash (a different mining program on smos I think nbminer) to mine whatever the coin is octopus  whatever and nice hash converts to  btc.

I know your current cards will have zero issues (98% sure)

I know nothing about cards down the road. other than the 3060 which will be better at octopus.

what does it all mean  that little rig I sold you will be fine.
new 3060's for octopus

new 3060ti  >> for a month no worries.
new 3070  >>  for a month no worries
new 3080 >>   for a month no worries
new 3090 >>   for a month no worries

after that newer cards may be crippled we do not know.
I high doubt they can go after old cards in the field.

And this could be a huge fuck up for nvidia as amd may turn out to make hay on this.

So do not back order months in advance is the safest thing I can say.

these cards in this offer will work.

If I am following the discussion on the 3060 Nerfing correctly, these recent posts appear to be confirming that the 3060's are indeed being throttled back when mining ETH.  I haven't been able to find anything definitive about whether or not other cards currently in play will be updated to add the mining nerf.  I currently only have 1660 and 1660ti, are they in danger of being nerfed and is there anything I can do to prevent that?  I don't know if they do any type of auto-updates to the firmware that I can disable?  If a guy is lucky enough to score a 3070, 3080 or other such Nvidia board in a store or on the newegg shuffle, is it expected that those will be nerfed as well?

Brand new 3060 = slowed for eth

but pretty good for  octopus.

your 1660 ti should not be altered lowered for eth.

I have tested them on octopus they would do 4 -5 bucks IIRC but I would not worry about your older cards.

You are using smos so he won't alter the drivers to hurt you.

Hey fellas,

Came into possession of two AMD pro duo cards (fiji). Is there anything else I can mine besides RVN?
