Nxt core dev Alex Jones gives a little teaser on the new Voting System feature in Nxt. As you can see, it is pretty powerful in what you can vote by/with.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dhJgz6hpHXg

Enjoy  Grin

Waow, didn't expect this.
Voting System always seemed kind of Meh to me but now i can see the appeal.

business asset promoter will be able to poll their asset holder very cheaply and in a secure decentralized way. I think this could change how some of the business is done. As far as I know, this situation will be a world premiere. im eager to see how it will pan out.

Thanks, yes we are still in the process of filling the products inventory.

Don't hesitate if you have customized requests with NXT logo (iPhone Case, Tablet Stand, etc.). We are thinking of putting phone accessories with the logo of every cryptocurrency we accept on the website.

N.B. The sell off today was the BTER hacker selling 3million of the stolen 8million NXT, timed to inflict maximum damage it seems. But we're still here. Again.  Grin

I thought his address was blacklisted?

Even if it was blacklisted by the exchanges, whats to stop him moving it around into different accounts with a new address?

I meant, I thought his account was black listed by the NRS to not allow any outgoing transactions from it. I thought I read that in one of the change logs.

This would never be allowed (and it obviously wasn't the case here). A centralised decision maker cutting people out of the blockchain a bad precedent. It would only be a matter of time before they make decisions a majority wouldn't agree with or just to benefit themselves. And these would of course be 'for your own good/protection/safety'

Can't people vote with the version they forge with? If more than 50% on the NXT was forging on a version with his account blacklisted then it wouldn't be a centralized decision.

But, I guess I'm remembering wrong. (I'm not talking about the re-org fork).

Blockchain pruning?

No, blockchain pruning is completely different. This is reducing the size of the blockchain like a zip file does to a normal file, with the difference that file doesn't have to be unzipped to access it--instead reading the blockchain data is hundreds of times faster than reading the data from a standard blockchain.

Yes thats correct, ideally blockchain pruning is the way forward, basically old historical transactions that are so old can be removed with no ill effect, i guess they can always be "archived" for possible future reference if possible, but the blockchain will just keep getting longer and longer and larger in size if things are left to their own. I think i read somewhere that they are looking at blockchain pruning with BTC.

i have heard something like service providers should be the one stepping up to store old datas.
from my understanding the service providers are just centralized businesses that will take such job as an opportunity to make money.

eg. if we get an yearly pruning, and you wanted some old pruned transaction records over one years for what ever reasons (tax, evidence), then you shall go find one of the pruned backup business and the business can make money by charging you for the records, maybe the older the more expensive.

Fixed a bug in transaction validation that could break blockchain downloading.
The default (and minimum allowed) value for nxt.maxRollback is now 1441.

Restrict maximum HTTP request and response size in peer networking to prevent
potential out of memory attacks.
