My wallet the last couple of days just says "Downloading blockchain" I have tried restarting it multiple times. I am on 1.2.2. I have assets  and coins I would like to be able to have access to, but currently it shows 0. Should I re-install for a third time?

The client don't show assets! You must add manually.....

If you're still having problems, you can ask the dev directly here

https://nxtforum.org/alternative-clients/(windows-mac-linux)-nxtwallet/

I have added the assets and purchased some. The problem is it shows a 0 balance and "Downloading Blockchain" but the DL bar never moves past 75%-ish...

How exactly are you doing the reinstall of NxtWallet?

I use the NRS version (start.bat etc) so might not be very useful to you on this  Grin

Will I ever be rich holding 1000 NXT ?  Roll Eyes

I have about 350 NXT. Other than Bitcoin, NXT is the altcoin I am most invested in.

One thing to remember about NXT is that there will never be more than 1 billion coins. That makes calculating things much easier. If NXT market cap reaches $1 billion, then each NXT would be worth $1. If NXT ever reaches Bitcoin's current market cap of about $10 billion, then each NXT would be worth $10. In the second scenario, your 1,000 NXT stash would be worth $10,000. I wouldn't call that "rich" but I definitely wouldn't be complaining.

Can we say NXT is the best POS coin ?

NXT is the best alt to BTC right now. I don't really think it's close.

NXT is a highly innovative coin. Call me crazy but I have a feeling that NXT will reach $500 million-$1 billion market cap sometime next year. Considering how Bitcoin and cryptos in general haven't been doing too well this year despite a whole lot of positive news and developments in the field, I think 2015 will probably be a good year for cryptos. People are already tired of gimmicky coins that offer no innovation and will be looking towards ones that bring new things to the table thus driving the technology forward, and it seems likely that NXT will be one of them.

As for Ethereum. I'm expecting some huge scandal to occur. I just have this sketchy feeling regarding ETH and for some reason I don't trust the DEVs. In their interviews I just get negative vibes from them.

The guy behind Ethereum also founded Bitcoin Magazine. Apparently he dropped out of college in his teens to work on cryptos. He seems like a pretty reputable guy. I'm not involved in Ethereum at all however so I don't know too much about the other devs:

What`s jl777hodl (JLH)

Its an asset rated as buy Smiley

Cheesy what can you do with this asset?

It is a basket of 26 crypto assets. Think of it as a mutual fund.

What you do with it? You buy it and hold it if you think the assets inside jl777hodl will increase in value over time.

You can investigate the 26 assets held at:
http://nxtreporting.com/?ac=NXT-DE2F-W76R-GL25-HMFPR

I can buy the bundle named Jl777hodl, or one of the 26 assets alone?

The idea behind it is that jl777hodl does that work FOR you.
It's an investment fund.

If you want to buy them seperately, you can certainly do that on your own Smiley

Oh God. Why did you guys decide to host this shyster's B.S. warez?

I just love it that, in a decentralised organisation, you get the idea this is a decision made on some "top level"  Cheesy

Some people liked it, wanted to do it, and went ahead and did it.

At no point a group of directors gave their blessing, and at no point anyone asked.

Why? because they don't need to. Smiley

You have been looking at corporately structured coins too much.  Grin

Thanks, someone already asked my question there and someone else already answered (just change the property).  That worked, now I will look for the further answers I need over there.

There's been a track record where if Max Keiser endorses something then it dies.   Cry

He's been endorsing bitcoin for years now. That's how I got into Bitcoin in 2012.

I agree the whole Quark/Bill Still segment seems like a pump and dump in retrospect.

Just looking through some old threads and found this that made me lol  Cheesy

Charlie Lee, creator of litecoin, learning about NXT

It was taken at the Texas bitcoin conference earlier in the year, seems like a long time ago now...  Grin

Oh God. Why did you guys decide to host this shyster's B.S. warez? Just because he has money and is on Internet TV doesn't mean he's not a shyster. He's pro-regulation and much like Brian Kelly is a wolf of Wall Street in sheep's clothing. He's just trying to hold open the door so Wall Street and the government can get in and regulate the usefulness entirely out of bitcoin.

He offers no credibility to NXT nor value to the world. He is simply another overconfident talking head that makes a living as a pundit, trying to misdirect people from his massive array of dead wrong calls he's made over the course of his career.

Furthermore, I don't think people should be allowed to label themselves as financial gurus when they owe the entirety of their fortune and elevated circumstances in life to their parents.

I started NXT client (server?) on a remote ubuntu server and it is started chatting with the network on port 7874.  It downloaded about 320MB into nxt.h2.db.  So I guess it is working.  My problem is I can't connect to that localhost port from here.  So I tried lynx from the command line and got some pages of HTML.  I was able to scroll to the secret phrase and repeat form entries.  I pressed enter on the register "button" and got:

HTTP ERROR: 400
   Problem accessing /. Reason:
HTTP method POST is not supported by this URL

Is there a better client to use than lynx?  Can I bind the port to listen on the internet with suitable firewall settings?  That is tricky since I access from a crummy network with varying addresses.

I think this is too technical for this thread  Grin

Just wanted to plug nxtforum.org, if you're not on it then you are missing out on most of what is happening in Nxt.

But don't take my word for it Grin Look at the stats...

https://nxtforum.org/index.php?action=stats

We are running at over 550 new posts per day and 15 new users are joining Nxt everyday. And it is only getting faster.

If you rely on people like me keeping you up to speed, I am only going to fail you a little bit more everyday  Grin I am having a hard time keeping up with developments the last few weeks.

So cut out the middleman and sign up to nxtforum.org  Grin
