IRC has its ups and downs, a lot of discussion happens on Skype groups/PM as well as the fora.
Like salsacz said, l8orre would also be a good guy to track down as a first point of contact.

Welcome to decentralisation central, have fun!

I did send L8orre a message yesterday... thanks for the tips.  -bm

Hi, and welcome to Nxt Smiley

l8orre is a good start. He communicates with most other devs and will certainly contact you.

As to getting involved: Nxt is a "jump in" project, so if you propose things and want to work, you will be pretty assured of a good reception Smiley
As has been said: we are decentralised, but not without structure.

The main developer is Jean-Luc and other people you might want to check out are antanst, wesleyh, and jl777. Come-from-Beyond is also worth looking at.

Feel free to yank on our sleeves if you need info. Smiley

EvilDave and salsacz :   thx!  Im currently scanning the forums.  Is there a place the devs go?  I was on IRC and it was pretty inactive.

you can ask this active dev, who creates many features: https://nxtforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=88

you can contact l8orre to be hired: https://nxtforum.org/technical-development-applications/hiring-devs-for-nxt/

or you can choose your own project and build anything on top of Nxt, like this guy: https://nxtforum.org/news-and-announcements/update-from-intmain-on-dnsserver-relay/msg7396/#msg73963

bluemeanie:

welcome on board, mate.
We like Java devs, btw.  Cool

Best way to find a good slot to work in would be to head on over to our main forum:
https://nxtforum.org/index.php

Good guys to get in touch with would be Jean-Luc (chief dev right now) and the boys on the Technical Development committee:
https://nxtforum.org/technical-development-committee/so-who-is-on-the-nxt-techdev-committee/

Good luck

took a close look at NXT yesterday.  Looks pretty good.  I'd like to get involved if possible.

hey guys,

I really like what you did with NXT.  The basic technology was sorely in need of rewriting and you will find what you did there is going to be a huge asset.  Your javascript GUI architecture is a VERY GOOD IDEA.

Im an experienced Java dev and I've got specific ideas that I want to build, but probably I can just help out for a while and get to know the project.  We can do something better than Ethereum(in simplicity terms) and really bring in the next phase of p2p cryptofinance.  It's possible with NXT, I already looked it over.  I'll try to present my ideas on the NXT forum, but maybe I just might start trying to help existing efforts.

thanks, -bm

Great news welcome aboard

Yes, I hear what you're saying and I agree with you, it definitely needs to be handled delicately.

LoL. About as delicately as a brick through the window as it appears  Cheesy

No worries. Thats the price you pay for a de-centralised organic network that's open to everyone. It will attract those who attracts and repel those who are looking for the "take me to your leader' approach.

Thankfully, none of this affects the integrity of the core technology being developed which will get used, make no mistake about it. Nore does the fact that 'competitors' loom on the horizon. There will be plenty room for all to carve out a place in this type of technology market for the supply is tiny and the potential demand very substantial.

ya I think some of the stuff coming out lately is something like Ripple redux, 'take me to your leader' style software pretending to be grass-roots aka ASTROTURF.

wrote a bit about NXT here:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6527921

Yes, we cannot control anyone. But it's still OK to actually use ones brain to think that "Perhaps a CEO of this big corp isn't interested in being spammed?"
