I could go on and on with examples of why consensus has no place in the scientific method. Furthermore, I need to point out the MASSIVE incentive governments have in paying scientists to come up with the statistics they want people to see. Don't you see just what kind of money is involved in 'carbon taxing' every single person on earth?... Right now we're seeing record low temperatures all over the world. They changed 'global warming' to 'climate change', and I'm sorry... but the earth's climate has been changing for something like 4.5 billion years.
I could go on and on. The main thing is: real science isn't done by consensus.

Man, c'mon, be reasonable. Even if it is warming, so what? It may start cooling today or tomorrow and will continue cooling for the next 500 years. There were times when the whole globe was covered with ice and times when it was so hot that almost every living thing died. And by the way lots of such things will happen in the future. And Nxt can't prevent warming or cooling. There are reasons for thing like that happen and human is not one of them.
Did you know that all people with all what we created: cars, roads, trains, buildings and other stuff can fit in a cube box with 7 km (4.35 miles) side? Basically we're not even exist. We're just a small piece of dust under nail.

Yep. Every spending must benefit Nxt economy in a maximum possible way. With this money we can have stands and speakers on all conferences within at least the next couple of years and develop lots of new features. Probably we won't even be able to spend all 10M ever beacuse it would be too big money to spend.

This might not be the last time I have to say this, but read the proposal before you start waffling on about Global bloody Warming.
The carbon-offset concept is about a whole load of good things:
reforestation, clean stoves, air pollution and a whole load of marketing brownie points.
NXT is already being seen as "green" because of it's low energy consumption, a carbon-offset project will take this to the next level, do some good in the world (forests, happy poor people) and make NXT cleaner than a Prius.
This is not my pet project*, I just think that it could bring NXT a lot of good publicity, and a unique position in the crypto market.
Look at the amount of hassle Bitcoin is getting right now over it's power consumption.
Again, read all of my proposal, then shoot it down point by point if u can.

THIS! It's disturbing to see people all cropping up with their grand plan to spend money that isn't theirs on causes that are important to them. If you want a carbon offset program, that's fine...just build it yourself with your own money and money from willing donors.
My comment earlier on spending the money to sponsor Mormon missionaries was tongue in cheek to make the point that we can all come up with great ideas on how to spend it, but we will alienate people in the process.

It's 97% of a small group. I mean 95% of all people in the world. For now gw theme makes half people angree. We don't want to make them angree, right? It would be our weak spot to be associated with such thing.
@dzarmush.....really don't want to get into the GW debate, but my carbon offset idea is *not*, repeat *not* purely about GW. With a good carbon-offset project we can cut all forms of air pollution, help some poor people and get good publicity for NXT. We are already using the low energy consumption of NXT as a marketing point, my idea is just an extension of that.
Do not underestimate the power of doing good things (and getting free publicity for them!)

I've got no problem with energy consumption. It's a really popular theme as well as organic food and stuff in the first world countries and people like it. So they'll like Nxt.

But it won't happen. There were a poll and we voted for the committee to supervise the money. Now it's just one more poll to choose these people. A week from now they'll got coins.
A good measurement for marketing and sales is the # of client download and the # of Nxt exchanged at the exchanges for a period time.
Clean stoves. Much of the developing world (2-3 billion people) still cook using crude, inefficient wood/coal/cow dung/whatever burning stoves. This gives rise to huge emissions and local air pollution which brings health and quality of life issues with it. Recently several groups have begun to develop much cleaner and more efficient cooking stoves, which not only cut emissions and need less fuel, but make a serious improvement in the quality of life for a lot of very poor people. Again, this can’t be a bad thing.
I like this very much. To elaborate: smoke inhalation from indoor cooking stoves is a major cause of lung disease and premature death in undeveloped areas. If I had some real $$$, even without considering carbon offset or other benefits to the Nxt network, I would give to help develop and distribute cleaner cooking stoves.
