A marketing Committee

1) I propose Salsacz, Pin, Utopianfuture, Opticarrier & Klee form the marketing committee

2) Marketing budget 7 millions Nxt

3) This should not be put to a vote

4) Marketing committee membership & funding should NOT BE PUT TO A VOTE (I have noticed that many accounts are using VOTING as a tactic to slow down our progress)

ALL THE ABOVE HAVE PROVEN THEMSELVES AS RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY & SALSACZ IS A MARKETING WONDER.

So you want to say, that difference in 1 hour what i see in my two chrome windows (the same block number in block explorer comparing with my client window) is normal and errors in forging a block doesn't related?

The block generated is the same that is why it has the same number... but the Block Explorer lists the time in UTC+1.

Yes... the errors are not related to the time listed in the Block Explorer... but they could be related to wrong timezone settings on your computer.

Change timezone to UTC+2 and sync the time.

That is my configuration I have, my timezone is UTC+2 and time synced with time server.

Your NXT account is not fully protected! Please visit http://goo.gl/7vvRJl to learn more.

This is my entry for the AM contest: Project Wake-Up Call :-)

The idea is, that sooner or later account holders will use software (clients, BC Explorer, etc.) that will show the plain text messages received on their account.

Thus, I sent out plain text messages to all accounts with more than 50.000 NXT in it that have no public key (204 accounts in total).

The message says:

Very nice idea, marcus.

Within a month, client software will be ready, large scale marketing will require some time. If there was a marketing budget, better plans could be made as to how to allocate it. I think most all agree that NXT needs some significant increase in the number of NXT users. This requires marketing and sales. With user friendly clients, we can go to the mass market.

The first question is how much to allocate to marketing. Once we know this, we can work to allocate to the different marketing programs. I strongly believe in pay for performance marketing. A website nobody goes to has little value, even if it has a lot of good info. A confusing badly made website, still has value if it brings in NXT'ers.

We define a performance metric for marketing. We set a NXT value to that. We roll out massive pay for performance marketing plan. 100 BTC worth of pay for performance marketing is possible. That would make it the largest ever and become news worthy in and of itself.

James, with all due respect and appreciation for your contributions to this project, I think that is just a terrible idea.  This is open-source, non-commercial, non-proprietary software.  Nxt would be the first example of this type of software going on a paid advertising blitz.  Linux didn't advertise.  Bittorrent didn't advertise.  Bitcoin and Litecoin didn't advertise.  This is the sort of project that has to survive and thrive on its own merits, not on its marketing reach.

Online advertising has been the focus of my working life for the last 12+ years and I spend very big on it every month, but it is not a fit for Nxt.  I beg you to reconsider this strategy.  Our efforts should be focused on infrastructure, functionality, and support.  We can't shove Nxt down people's throats like we can with other products and services.  It just won't work.

Now I double-click clock in bottom left corner of my desktop and set timezone to UTC+2. My current time magically changed to 16:30, so I set it back to 17:30.

So you changed the time?

(the time didn't "magically change" it's just your local time that changed to reflect your change of timezone - if you're using nntp you should *never* change the time only the timezone/DST setting)

I suppose some people fumble sometimes in their clock settings just to get the 'right time', even if it is wrong.

A little bit confused:( here is my situation:

Chrome tab with blockchainexplorer:

42716   5848194006771653811    16.01.2014 15:12:50    6    105.99    6    0   14571285356259793594

The Block Explorer is just listing the time for 87.230.14.1, which is in Sweden.

OK, I live in Lithuania, which is UTC+2. In blockchainexplorer block has timestamp of UTC+1. So here is a difference in 1 hour between blockchainexplorer timestamp and my client time.

I made a mistake and have corrected my post... 87.230.14.1 is in Netherlands. It doesn't matter if you have a different time than the one listed on the Block Explorer... just choose UTC+2 and sync the time.

So you want to say, that difference in 1 hour what i see in my two chrome windows (the same block number in block explorer comparing with my client window) is normal and errors in forging a block doesn't related?

I did change the time.

Actually that wasn't me, other guys. There were 2-3 cases when setting correct timezone fixed incorrect timestamp issue.

And *that* is the problem - (not the timezone) - so lesson is simple:

1) Set your timezone to UTC and make sure the time is correct (according to nntp)

2) Change your timezone (and if you like set it to use DST) but *do not change the time* after doing so.

You should now have both correct UTC and local times.

Any news regarding Nxt crypto-algo audit?

I just emailed Ittay to ask him if he thought he would be able to do it or not:

Ittay,  Can you please let me know if you plan on doing this work?  We would like to know if we need to find someone else; you are our first choice but we would like to know if we need to search elsewhere.

Thanks!

Pin the pollster is away. So I make this poll for anyone who care about the funding issue. Go there to vote and let your opinion know.

CFB: Would it make sense to make a kind of funding committee? To think about which kind of investments make sense and in which projects the money will go in? Yes, this is somehow centralized, but I guess it would help more to make just “decisions by the community” what could be just the loudest guys in Bitcoinkalk.

Good idea.

Ok. Do it.

You shouldn't give encourage behaviors if they work under the assumption that they will be paid by the common pool of NXT, imho. This should be clear that CFB does not make spending decisions.

Right.
