Just wanted to say that 0.5.3 is running incredibly well for me.  Is anyone still having problems with stuck blocks?

Okay...what about: Creators register alias with name of the project for their address?

I thought about that. It looks not natural.

I think the main use case of this tables is to see what good is going on. With respect to authors, people are interested in projects. I don't expect that visitor will copy all addresses at the spreadsheet and donate to everybody. So we need only |project category|project name|short project description|project link|. All author-related information should be in the project and organized like author wants.

And I think that table is bad idea and we need to create a wiki page for each category and then create a table with |project name|short project description|project link|

P.S. I'm talking about information organizing, not about your *starter idea. It is cool but my approach is not related to it

P.S.S. nice scratch

Hey guys,

I'm currently generating me a 777****777 address. Is my calculation correct that it takes about 900,000 generated addresses to obtain one in my wanted format with 6 wanted digits characters (the 1st digit can't be a zero).

The script is running on my PC and on my university cluster which isn't much faster. It's unfortunately running with the NXT API and in python. So it's not the fastest. I would like to make a native C version.

For this I would have to work me into the algorithms. Is this something the community wants?

I'd like that form of address!

Be my guest Smiley

Can you please add mynxt.info to those lists as well?
Can add it to my site. Should I add your Blockchain explorer as well?

Btw. I will just add them to NXTarea.com. I will forwarding CoinArea.net to NXTarea.com soon.

Cool site, but change "everything is built from scratch", not build.

common guys,

this is a good example of a white paper, but I am sure we can do better.

http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

8 pages will do.

Does anybody know where cunicula's draft white paper is? I heard he released something. The key to any NXT whitepaper is in transparent forging and its implications, I was hoping there was something to start with, anything/

James

I woudn't count on cunicula anymore, I don't know him and I don't know why HE was writing it, I am sure there are other people here that can do this job just as well.

James, do you have time to coordinate this a bit. We have seen some good articles from Anon, Alias, and others, can we extract the best of it and put it in the white paper.

Pin

Sure, I can coordinate and write some of the easy stuff. I think we will need some paragraphs from ricot who seems to understand the NXT logic enough to have come up with several successful potential attacks.

Do you have a set of URLs for all the docs that have been written. I can make a first pass at making a white paper with a bunch of fill in the blanks.

James

P.S. I saw a post that said cunicula actually posted a draft of white paper?

I think we should forbid posting addresses of program creators in public editable spreadsheet. I'll change all of them with mine addresses tomorrow. If you revert changes - I'll wait for a couple of days and change one of them. Or two. Or after a week. I wish you got the idea.

This is where something like NXTstarter could help, as every project would have its own page and only the registered author could make changes.

Centralized site is bad idea. It must be an application which database is nxt chain.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nxt-online-wallet-407115

It seems like a very bad idea to suggest people use this form of online wallet!

I suggest to display them single page with big red warning to never ever do it.

Is https://blockchain.info/wallet safe by design?

With blockchain.info, you're still trusting your money to a third party, and they could run off with your coins / get your coins hacked / etc.

But blockchain is run by a company with an extended validation certificate, a large customer base, a valuable brand, etc. Whereas nxtwallet.com is a website on a privacy-backed domain with a self signed cert that could disappear tomorrow taking a few gullible people's keys with it.

I don't think OP had that intention, and it's good that he has now included a big disclaimer in the first post.

Question: how easy is it for people who run public nodes on 7875 and who dont want to give people the opportunity to enter their passphrase to remove the "unlock account" button?

Blockchain.info doesn't work in that way. They don't have access to your private keys, so they can't steal your coins, that is why is the safest online wallet. (but for 100% safety of course always keep your bitcoins in offline wallet)
Of course hackers can take them if the hack you, or if blockchain change his way of working in the future.

Anywhere explained how they could do that? Any links?

Added
Also added:
@yan83
@Mac Red
@jean-Luc
@Ola
It is a bit messy and took me time to check if i am not adding someone who is already added in another section but I think i did't add somebody twice.

isildur: nice Smiley this is also a good website with lists of projects: http://coinarea.net/

will check it now.
p.s. Does anyone give bounties for translators? There was one guy promising it, but i (and as it seems a cople other guys) did't receive anything.

Added myself for nxtcoins.nl.

Also would like to repeat joefox's call for bounties for wiki-translators.
I myself spend at least half an hour to an hour every evening translating as the wiki keeps updating.
I know that there are some other people working hard on it, too, not in the least joefox himself.

PR tends to take a second seat to development Wink

joefox is asking for translating-donations in nextcoin.org, but no donator there.

Thanks to wiki system it will be very easy to show who translated and how much he translated. I created a list of translators by browsing forums... But there is also non public list of people created by the volunteers Questionairre
