OK, got the go-ahead from our generous donator, the nxt faucet now gives a random amount of 1 to a maximum of 5 coins per user.

Try it out if you haven't yet: http://nxtra.org/faucet/

It works! 3 NXT were successfully sent to the annihilating account.

that's a vulnerability, should code the faucet script not to send to it.

Thank you for the people that just donated 5000 and 300 coins to the next faucet, we're back in business!

http://nxtra.org/faucet/

I'd like to increase the amount to a random nr of coins between 1 and 5, if the person that sent the 5000 coins agrees. You can message me if you want.

Am I crazy, or is NXT no longer listed on coinmarketcap?
no more

yeah, it's likely to that blockchain explorer issue, it's not stable yet, not syncing right, so it goes on and off from coinmarket.

Guys, the nxt faucet (http://nxtra.org/faucet) is a success, 533 giveaways already - more than 1030 coins sent - the rest went to fees unfortunately.

Now the faucet is empty, if anyone wants to help fill it again, the faucet address is: 6973288302950136231

I'll be releasing the source of this later today. Thanks!

I have no idea what you are talking about setting, only thing i can do is download new version, then delete previous one and start with new. I use the 0.4.7e, looks nice, no blocks problem since yesterday. current 25680.

Blockchain explorer really lagging behind with blocks and still showing 0.4.5

25650  id  11164540618032626279   412 % this is current block, right?

explorer is still on 25404, not good.

With the Raspberry Pi  experience I think it would be wise to be smartphone centric there is a lot of smartphones in the world with great distribution systems called App stores already in place.

If we can refine Nxt client to optimally run on smartphones then we can greatly scale the number of nodes in the network.

But for smartphones to run as nodes we need to have an amazing social feature for the general public to us on a daily basis....Anonymous Messaging with alias from your smartphone.

There is real demand for this....example bittorrent just launched an anonymous messaging service in alpha  a few days ago.

We should beat them to the punch....we already have a working android app with Alias search.

you forgot that a good android client renders all sticks running android a perfect candidate as well.

what about battery life that might pose a problem for device owners

I wouldn't want to run it on the phone I currently use, however while I have no rPi lying around, I have 2 or 3 old Android phones lying around.

If it runs on 2 to 4 year old hardware/Android OS, I would be fine with hooking them up to my home wifi and power and have them run 24/7.

why is it that everyone keeps going on about thwarting the ddosers with an army of rasberry pi's? if you had 10 of them wouldnt you still have to run all 10 through the same IP address? isnt what we need more distinct ip addresses contributing not more distinct pieces of hardware? or are we not talking about each person getting a stack of pi's but rather a pi in the hands of every individual who is involved in this project?

That actually makes perfect sense and i was wondering the same thing.

How much are the Pi's running for this?

@CFB ....is the above Nxt node set-up helping the network in anyway?

Only if it forges or push transactions/blocks.

If raspberry pi's can forge & push transaction/blocks....then I see no reason a tablet/smartphone couldn't do it as well.
