How about the ability to do futures contracts? I am sure with the alias squating that would've come in handy  Smiley

With Smart Contracts this is possible if all necessary data is stored in the blockchain.

I don't think there are any pools yet.

Pools r impossible (without trusting to someone) until Transparent Mining and Smart Contracts r implemented. Actually, the 1st pool will, likely, be the first DAC.

I really like the concept of this coin! I am jumping in to this coin forging, have some questions to help me understand, hopefully not too many Smiley

1. Is there some sort of traffic number gaging the transaction amount per day that NXT does on average?
2. How much NXT can I expect to forge if I hold say 1000 nxt in a given day?
3. Say I have 1000 NXT, Is there benefit to multiple computers (say 10) that hold 1/10 of the 1000 NXT as opposed to one computer holding all 1000 NXT?
4. What is the transaction fee for trading 1 NXT as opposed to 10000 NXT?
5. Can I just hold onto NXT for eternity and still make residual NXT over time?
6. Does the amount forged for any given holder vary with the price of NXT?

Ok so i made a formula to calculate how many blocks you would mine in a day. Just plug in the relevant values

A = The number of coins that you are using in your attempt to forge blocks
B = The average total number of coins being used by everyone to attempt to forge blocks
1440 is the number of blocks that are generated in a day.

A*1440/B

So if you had 1000 coins forging all day and 1/2 of all of the coins in existance were being used to attempt to forge blocks than the number of blocks you would forge in one day would be: 0.00288. Probably would be best to join a pool.
Thanks alot that info helps! What pool do you recommend?

I don't think there are any pools yet. This whole NXT thing is still in its infancy. Actually its worse than that. In some sense you could say it Isnt even born yet. Its basically in alpha right now. Beta starts Jan 3.

i've made like 6 deposits of Btc and they seem pretty quick. getting Nxt out can take 24 hours easy. but once you have it in your wallet, all is good

I know dgex says

BTC and NXT deposits are confirmed manually and credited to account balances
several times a day, during and outside central European business hours.
NXT and BTC Cashouts are done manually daily
however in special circumstances they can take up to 48 hours to complete.

but whats you guys experience. i have been waiting 12 hours so far. is that normal?

Yes, Alias System is planned to be used to send coins to named accounts.
- CfB, could you please explain what URI format must be used for aliased named accounts?  "nxt:111222333444555" or just "111222333444555" ?

It's up to the client software that uses aliases to send coins to. Correct way is via adding URI scheme "nxt:"

come from beyond, what is the optimal time to enter for AS? 5 seems too short and risks losing it

What is the down side to deadline 1440?

If u have a lot of money u can just send 5 transactions with 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000 fees and deadline set to 1440.

how does the amount bid correlate to the time?

That was an incorrect advice. Only 10.000 NXT should be sent.

In Nxt, like in early days of America, no central authority. Squatting seems to be the most fair way in our situation.

Hey I'm all for this theory, just was wondering how much of it was planned as a payout to existing users?

No idea. Sometimes I suspect that BCNext is SkyNet a black box.

the way i see it, there are a million keywords, hashtags that will be valuable. No point spending over 1Nxt on each, so what would the optimal time be for low bids?

Nice to see so many other people jumping in, me too Grin

How long does a typical NXT withdraw from DGEX take? They say up to one business day if I recall well, do they operate manually?

It was just about instant for me
