Much vaunted Eth is having a congestion problem causing overall cryptomarket into a downside push. I wonder how would Byteball deal with a similar load of transactions. Would it handle it better?

https://news.bitcoin.com/status-ico-generates-over-60-million-but-fails-to-deliver-meanwhile-ethereum-flounders/

As I understand, in theory, as Byteball i not using BlockChain but a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) a.k.a "Tangle", it is not concerned by overload of transactions. Is it the otherway around, the more transactions, the quicker they are confirmed.

https://explorer.byteball.org/#W/xyYlbV7wP5nkZ46s73dWi+EBjFgpzNkbCkld+jI0c= The Graph become larger when the number of transaction increase.

people who are selling now are stupid.

some people are going to thank these "stupid" people selling now. if no one is selling - then how do you expect anyone to buy? it's the way of trading. Grin
Tbh I perfectly understand why daytraders would take advantage of the fact that the next distribution is still 2+ weeks from now.

Byteball has a predictable price pattern, lots of money to be made if you don't work 9-6 and have the time...

Why the recent drop? Any news?

Nothing related to Byteball. Every alt is going down. BUY THE DIP LADS. You'll be sorry when this goes up in a few hours.

Is there some videos creation on the way to promote byteball?
It missing a small to explain the possibilities and another one to explain the tech and advantages.

If nothing is on the fire, I can try to do something, even if i'm better in critisism then production ;(

We should really do something about the synch time though. Would it make synch faster if there were more hubs and relays? Do hubs and relays have to have public/static IP addresses?

I tried syncing a full node. It seems that most of the delay is caused by the wallet reading and writing to the local hard drive excessively. I don't know if it is possible to configure sqlite to work with a bigger memory cache or something to cut down on disk access but if so, that should help a lot.
.....
I agree completely -my experiences:
Core i5-321M @ 2.5 GHz
RAM 8 GB
hard disk Seagate Momentus
WIn 10 64 Bit
full Sync Time:  >5 days (>120 h)

Core i7-5500U @ 2.40 GHz
RAM 8 GB
SSD
WIn 10 64 Bit
full Sync Time: 1 day (24 h)

SSD => factor 5 faster

On mobile devices without ssd, the synchronization never ends (e.g. SD memory card).
Clear recommendation:
The read / write speed of the device is the bottleneck, devices without SSD (or fast HD) should prefer a light wallet.
This recommendation must be pointed out during the installation in order to protect the users from frustration.

Excellent observation! Thanks! Also, there is probably something that can be done programmatically to improve the situation. Perhapse Byteball should use more RAM for caching and flush to disk less frequently?
I'm not a dev, but database applications on mobile devices may not be a new problem.
There should be experts who can better estimate the possibilities of optimization.
Either we find someone in the community who can support Tony (if he needs support).
Otherwise, we have to hire someone.

At the moment, the community is still poor. After the end of the distribution, I would vote for a big donation call.
(There should then be sufficient stakeholders who are interested in a strong further development.)
Tony and CryptKeeper then (or bevore) need to set the priorities for further development and use of the resources.

The optimization of the light wallet will certainly have priority (in my opinion) because the primary goal is global adoption.
For this scale "One last thing.  The remaining 1% will be given away to the first 100m users who install Byteball wallet, 100 Kbytes to each user...."
the wallet have to run fluently on low budget mobile devices.
Because the target group of this scale:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_percentage_of_population_living_in_poverty
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_growth
A key factor for success (large-scale adoption) in the real world is to protect potential users from frustration.
The first contact must be positive -> no hurdles, no techspeak just value for the user..

I think for the light wallets, the network must be correspondingly expanded.
Again, we need to see what the community or donor can do.
A thought about this => give away bundle like this: Raspberry-Model-A1-2GHz-64-bit-quad-core + Ableconn-PIUSB2MSA-Converter-Stackable-Expansion (SSD Support if needed)
or for short : BmsB (Byteball massive scaling Box)  Cheesy Cheesy
price (without discount): ~60 Dollar * 1000 bundles = 60,000 Dollar.
I would say that is not a problem if capitalization reached the level of IOTA. Wink
If it is necessary we push again 1000 afterwards..  Cool

If each owner internalizes this fact "..remember that its value is proportional to the square of the number of active users", things will develop very positively

[...] I'm one of the guys who didn't get his blackbytes.
[...] The only thing I changed compared to the previous distributions is the hub.

You have to talk again with transition bot when you change hub.

Are you sure about that? I changed hubs lots of times and didn't have to talk to the transition bot more than once.

Yes. Unless if, by chance, you are back to the same hub when distribution starts again. The distribution bot needs to know "where" to sent you the BlackBytes.

I changed the hub to yours Wink before the last distribution (pretty sure about that) and got my blackbytes. The only talking I might have done with the bot is saying hi so that it displays info about the linked addresses, is this what you mean?

Yes. You don't need to register again your address, a simple "hi" to the bot is enough so that the bot knows what is your current hub (and welcome to our hub  Smiley )

Do I need to hold the GBYTE in my Byteball Wallet or can I also hand in my Bittrex address?

And can I hand in my BTC address on exchanges?

Also where can I sign up for E-Mail notification of upcoming distributions?

Yes, you need to hold them in your wallet, although I've read that some exchanges will give you the bytes that should be yours. To be sure, put them in your own wallet.
Also, you need to talk to the transition bot in the wallet, and give them your wallet address
AND, if you don't do that, you won't get black bytes.

You need to prove that you own your BTC, so you can't use exchanges to hold your BTC.
To prove you own the BTC, you can send some small amount to the transition bot (following the instructions), or sign a message.
The content of the message signature should be your byteball address, but first you need to tell the bot your BTC address.
Anyways, talk with the bot for everything

Distributions happen once a month every full moon, the next one is posted on the first post of this thread (you should really read all of the first post)

I also made a small guide here:
https://byteballblog.wordpress.com/how-to-get-free-byteballs
And I hope it can answer the rest of your questions.

And remember that BTC addresses are tricky, if you send any BTC, your coins are put in "change addresses", so be sure to have all your BTC linked (you can link more than one BTC address!) before the next distribution starts

Do understand correctly that just having GBYTE in the wallet is not enough? I also need a Bitcoin Wallet?
