This match may not be interesting for you but being a cricket lover, you might enjoy the match or look out for some special innings and how was cricket being played 20 years back when the technology was not so advanced as it is now. Such matches also rewind our lives to 20 years back and a lot of memories comes to my mind.

Technology started changing from the late 1980s onward. So if you want to get a good idea about how the matches was played before the technological revolution, then you need to watch the tournaments that were played before mid-1980s. But some of those matches are not available online. One example is the India vs Zimbabwe match in 1983, in which Kapil Dev made 175 not out. That match was not broadcast live, so no video is available.

Is that same game, where Sachin made 100 something and beat the shit out of all Australian bowlers? If yes then yeah I remember this match 😔😔

This is the match played  on 24 April 1998 and my memory is not so strong to remember these old matches. (world cups are an exception)
I have googled it and found https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8534/scorecard/65774/australia-vs-india-final-coca-cola-cup-1997-98

Tendulkar made 134 and was the man of the match in this final.  This innings would be worth watching.

Now this very long lock down with these very old matches going to be more bore as nothing new every news channel crying about Corona or about side effects of this lock down but we cannot do any thing just stay in stay safe with this all bore matches.

Also understand that other teams which got the split points were fair because those series were cancelled due to coronavirus.

Australia Women's tour of South Africa postponed because of coronavirus

That's not the same thing and you should now understand there was only one team and one government who did not wanted to play in 2019 and still got the benefit of the points.

This has been one of the sticky points in international cricket. It is very much clear that the Indian government is not going to give permission of any sort, to the Indian team to tour Pakistan. The political atmosphere is just too lighted up right now. But then, ultimately the ball is in the court of ICC and they have to take the decision regarding the point allocation. And ICC has made quite a few moves to antagonize the BCCI in recent times.

You didn't even read your source, right? How come splitting the points is bias? Same thing happened for Australia vs South Africa and New Zealand vs Srilanka series.

India qualify for 2021 Women's World Cup after ICC splits points from unplayed Pakistan series

Ehsan Mani should say that they wants all points for themselves similar to 2016. As for BCCI, they already made clear multiple times that without government clearance they can't play any Bilateral series. Its a right time that PCB should stop trying and accept the reality which we all are facing. Its a fact that politics and terrorism is fucking up cricket diplomacy. Series was schedule was around July-November 2019. Don't tell me that you are not aware of what happened between both countries during that timeline?

I know that the series was not being played between the two countries because of political tensions but it was more strong recalcitrant behavior from India not willing to play with Pakistan. Pakistan is never afraid to play with India and is always willing to play.
You only showing your immatureness to others by replying like this. no point in replying you for this statement.

Yes , Eshan Mani is saying that we should get all the 6 points this time also, as we did get in 2016. The only difference is that in 2016, India did not informed in written that THEY WILL NOT PLAY and this time around they informed  in written and early THEY WILL NOT PLAY.   So whats the difference in approach ?  But difference in decision taken by ICC by splitting points this time.

Quote
This time around, the BCCI engaged with the ICC early on in this round of the Women's Championship, making its stand clear about why it could not play Pakistan in the ODI series scheduled in 2019. ESPNcricinfo understands the BCCI made extensive submissions as early as 2018 demonstrating that it could not get the relevant permission from the Indian government to play Pakistan. That helped the ICC's technical committee to invoke the force majeure clause on this occasion.

Due to the splitting of points (three to India, three to Pakistan), India qualify as the fourth-placed team on the ICC Women's Championship table with 23 points, behind Australia (37), England (29) and South Africa (25). Had all six points gone to Pakistan, they would have qualified with 22 points, ahead of India with 20.

Quote
In 2016, the ICC decided to give Pakistan full points when India failed to show up for a series, but there is one difference that looks to have secured a more desirable outcome for the BCCI. On that occasion, the BCCI offered no written explanation for the failure to proceed with the series, and the technical investigation committee found the BCCI had not been able to establish "acceptable reasons" for non-participation in the series.

This time around, the BCCI engaged with the ICC early on, making its stand clear about why it could not play Pakistan in the ODI series scheduled in 2019.

Quote
The ruling is particularly significant for Pakistan because had the ICC awarded them all six points, as was the case in a similar scenario in 2016, Pakistan would have qualified for the playoffs automatically, while India would have had to go through the qualifiers for the Women's World Cup.

"We are of course disappointed with the decision, but our team (comprising the CEO, legal department, and other heads) is reviewing the matter. Once that's done, we will be able to comment," Mani told Sportstar.

I didn't knew about this inside story of the rematch of that semi final but why there would have been a re-match if the crowd interrupted at the end of the match. Wouldn't it be better if they could resume the match from the moment it was interrupted when Indian were 8 out.

What was the logic of the full match to be played again ?
It was the year 1996 and no one knew about the rules and regulations of these finer things, there was a rumor that they would rematch if the match is disrupted and the media was not that active during those period and the internet was in its infancy when Netscape was the king and the good old  28.8 Kbps modem which was magical Cheesy and moreover there is no news available like we have now and during that time even i was convinced that they would rematch even though they announced the results that Sri Lanka would go through the finals.

In those days, there were not much cricket. There were no T20 and no league matches etc. The people of the era were emotionally attached with their national teams and would not bear the losses at such important occasions like semi finals or finals. These days you don't find such reaction on loses because now people just enjoy the match and treat it as a game only.
The main issue during the world cup in 1996 is that everyone knew about match fixing and everyone believed that the match fixing was the reason for the defeat, India started really well in the match, Sri Lanka was batting first and Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana were tearing away bowlers and India was able to pick their wickets easily in the first over and then the match slipped away and when India was batting India was in a strong position with Sachin Tendulkar counter attacking the bowlers and when he got out the score was 98 for the loss of 2 wickets and from that situation India lost 6 more wickets for just 22 runs and the crowd was calling foul play because the dismissals were like that and the crowd started lighting the stadium and that is the reason the play was called off.

If any of you remember those days, there were rumors that they will rematch again because the crowd stopped the play and i was convinced that they will rematch again  Cheesy and i believe the reason for the crowd intervention was because of that reason.

No logic for playing again as on this Day Sri Lanka was better team and they done good job even way of result for not good but they won world cup its all end.

This caption is very strange. How did Srilanka win the match by default ?
They played a better game and won it through their hard work and not by default.  Cheesy

No need to feel bad about the terminology. That is a standard one. The match was abandoned due to crowd disturbance and Sri Lanka was declared as the winners, since they were ahead as per the Duckworth/Lewis rule. Back then, it used to be very difficult to control the crowd. After a few such incidents, the BCCI ordered the construction of barricades around the stands, and these sort of incidents never got repeated.

I still remember vinod kambli existing the stadium in tears and the crowd in kolkata still vandelizing the property and throwing bottles and papers to srilankan players. That was one of the worst crowd related incident in the history of Indian cricket.

There should be different approach on such important games because splitting or DL system should not be working on such games. Same case goes for the important matches in world cup and have a reserve day just in case if rains comes or match could not be completed on that day due to some reason. This will give competitive chance to all teams.

Then you will have hard times to manage the schedule if there are reserve day for matches on such epidemic. I think JSRAW has said enough about that and if country does not like it only because this is not favoring them at all will be a childish behavior.
