Run rate is not a matter if the players not going to complete their 50 overs.WI looks like playing the same so India will target for more wickets now where the WI lacks to hold the game most of the time.
WI is still going strong. Now Hetmyer and Hope is set in the pitch. I suspect WI is aiming for 350+ runs. And they can achieve it easily if Indian bowler do not ball cleverly. This match is still interesting and looking very good for WI.

By the way, by any chance if WI wins then a lot of people will lose money today. :-(

Edit: Rain delay LOL
Good news rain stopped and now Ground staff is taking off all stuff we are going to start again in just few minutes but now we have less overs as we lost some good amount of time and this is going to help West Indies as they already have some good start courtesy of Gayle and Lewis.

WI started their innings as if they are playing T20 and made a quick fire 100 without loss in 10 overs only . But slowly Indian picked up top 2 batsman and thus their net run rate started to fall. Though the rain has halt the match now but they are still 158/2 in 22 overs .

Well both openers are gone however the run rate is 9.63. Now it's time for India. Let's see how they hold the nerve.

Edit: They nearly got Hetmyer. But the ball was in no man's land.

8 over 79 runs, run rate 9.87!

WI did not lose any wicket till now. Master blaster Gayle is scoring like it's a tennis ball. Lewis is going extra mile and he is even more aggressive than Gayle. It will be interesting to see how India is going to handle this match.

Edit: 84 for none.
First three overs was just for some check up after this now these both doing really tough for Bowlers 10 over and already touching 114 first time in ODI history we have 8 sixes batting first bad news for India Risab Pant is injured and out of ground lest see now next 10 overs can give more entertainment like this.

Chahal first over and India have first wicket of Lewis.

West Indies start is very shaky hopefully today we have some better from them and after very bore and rainy day some good and interesting cricket.

Well, they are spanking Indian bowlers hard Cheesy already at 79 runs after 8 overs. hope they can cross 300+ today, good part is its not one man show ( gayle) both openers playing good.

If they manages to play 20 overs like that then lol moment for India.

Welcome to Rain's international   Grin

Today every International cricket match is interrupted by the rains. be it test match in between SL vs NZ or toss delay in the Ashes or ODI. The latest casualty is ODI Windies vs Ind's game.

Windies won the toss and batting first. No Bumrah today, guess Indian saving him for Test and rightly so.

India can afford this right now to give rest him for test matches as they have good combination and all is going good for them now we have 4 overs of this third ODI and West Indies start is very shaky hopefully today we have some better from them and after very bore and rainy day some good and interesting cricket.

It is also kind of interesting to know the result of these matches because it can turn into any sides if there is a game play remaining.

People suffer from drought on many countries so never blame rains again. Smiley

Cricket is not about making personal achievements and personal records.  It's a team game and required a team effort to win the matches.  Gayle, if he is not in a good form should retire from one day international. He should not wait for 300 matches or other things which resemble personal records.
Seriously? The majority including me do not want the Universe Boss to retire yet because we still wish to watch him continue playing for some more time. No one can force these legends to retire which is why I disagree with you here. Its their personal decision at the end of the day.

Every sporting events people remember these personal achievements and why is it a bad thing, he is playing his 300th match while 99% of the population are not even talented enough to play one international match, cricket is the only group sport that has stats and records and we can remember because these are celebrated and the fans remembers those moments, if Gayle wants to retire let him do so why would anyone dictate what to do with his career and if he is not that good or performing badly the selectors will not pick him for the next match or series and you cannot find a replacement for Gayle that easily.
I agree with your statements except for the 99% part which is a bit far-fetched. There are many talented cricketers around the world which represent a far bigger percentage in this regard.

No mention about Gayle playing his last ODI match but mostly people were cheering him for playing his 300th ODI.

BTW, BCCI wants to include cricket in LA Olympics now by 2028. I feel it's a great opportunity if they recognize Cricket also and was wondering what took them so long to include this sport.
BCCI is the only think stops cricket to be added from olympics,it was the internal politics between ICC and BCCI after the introduction of IPL league.

I think it was the ICC chairperson who made that statement and not any official from the BCCI. 2028 Olympics is almost a decade away. Why they are not trying to get it included in the 2024 Olympics, if the 2020 tournament was too close? The answer is that the ICC don't want cricket in Olympics and these are just delaying tactics. All they care about is money, and they don't want to lose a month's revenue from bilateral tournaments by giving permission to include cricket in Olympics.

If the ICC cared about the sport more than the revenue, then they could have done what FIFA had done. FIFA went to great lengths to ensure that football is included in the Olympics and they agreed to all the demands made by the IOC, including drug tests. In turn, being an olympic sport football now qualifies for government funding in more than 200 nations.

He played his 300th ODI which is a big deal and hence there was celebration for that achievement but never heard about his retirement from ODI.
Okay then I think we will need to wait till the next match. I tried looking online but found nothing about it. It really is confusion for me LOL Not sure where I heard that the last match was his last ODI :-P

Am not too sure about this news since he basically reversed his retirement decision recently which is why we can't be too sure about these things. He might still have some fuel left in his tank for a couple more matches.
Yeah it was during the world cup: https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/48775479

Atm everyone speculating about his retirement. As Gayle's fan, It's hard to watch him nowadays because he's playing bad and now he's waiting for Board to kick him out. (JK)

The way I see he could announce his retirement before the 300th match so that he could play last game as the farewell match. He's already became the highest run-scorer for Windies so announcing retirement at this milestone makes sense as well, but it's not an option anymore.

Or maybe he's eyeing for one explosive inning for closure who knows.  Huh

You are right and we have many historical examples for this but some time few players love to do these things as we have in case of Gayle he need to give his retirement statement straight away after world cup but he want to achieve this target and now want to retire so its not his personal wish its his board was also involve and they oblige him for this all.

Okay, I must messed up here with his 300th ODI thinking as his last ODI match LOL

Well Gayle really is having bad time since the WC and I think it started sometimes from the last IPL.

No doubt. May be, he is trying to play some more good innings and then wants to retire from the peak. In fact this is the dream of every player.
