@fuguebtc  Not some but a billion people didn't want their team to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup. It was very clear from the start but all parties, especially PCB wasted a lot of time. Although their grievances were genuine but dick measuring contest with the BCCI on political grounds wasn't necessary, recently it happened with the WC fixtures too.

Yeah, hard for players to travel back n forth for just 1 match. It's final so no one can do anything about it. Now ACC must take extra care of players when traveling, maybe provide Charter flights.

I am actually not going to blame the Pakistan Cricket Board in this situation. If it was me or anyone else I can guarantee that they would have done the same as well. Of course, the Pakistan Cricket Board is going to want to host when it is their turn. So of course, I don’t think we can actually playing Pakistan Cricket Board. Simultaneously, I acknowledge that Pakistan may not be an optimal choice for hosting the Asia Cup.

I know that the fixture is already made and there is nothing that can be done about it. I hope there are not going to be any problems in this tournament. But people should learn from their mistakes.
No reason to blame them for the initial burst as it was their right but at the same time, they also knew that it was fool's errand and they wasted a fair amount of time.

The next Championship trophy is also scheduled in Pakistan and i bet this story will repeat again, maybe it would be wise if they can follow the hybrid model same as the Asia Cup.

Not sure if that's the case.

The most possible reason, promos etc got delayed because of drama between BCCI and PCB. A fair amount of discussions were going on and at some point, there was no surety of the Asia cup.

True. I was also thinking that this year's Asia Cup may get cancelled. Would have been a big blow for Nepal, who qualified after so much hard work. But even now, a lot of things are still complicated. Teams need to travel thousands of miles, shuffling between matches in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It would have been much better if Sri Lanka was granted exclusive hosting rights. But then, it would be unfair to Pakistan, who were hosting the tournament after a big gap. In the end, it is going to be hard for the players, as well as for the fans.
The Asia Cup was largely in limbo due to the political conflict between India and Pakistan, there were fears that the Asia Cup tournament would not take place this season, but in the end a compromise by each team led to the Asia Cup tournament being held at the end of August. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are going to jointly host this Asia's highest tournament. All the matches that India will play will be held in Sri Lanka which means that India will not tour Pakistan in any way. If India qualifies for the final then the final match will be played in Sri Lanka and if any other team including Pakistan qualifies for the final of the Asia Cup then the final match will be played in Pakistan the final match is entirely dependent on which team qualifies for the final.

I would have felt very bad for Nepal if this Asia Cup tournament had not happened because this team has worked hard to qualify for the main stage.

Sithara007, I am going to be blunt about the broadcasters, not hyping the Asia cup. Some of them are just straight up, not happy with asia cup even being played in Pakistan. that’s why they are simply not happy about it.

Well, that is definitely also a big reason. The promos definitely got delayed. But I certainly cannot avoid the fact that there are some who actually do not like the idea of the Asia cup being played in Pakistan. And about the fixture, I absolutely understand why a lot of people do not like this. Even I was thinking that it is going to be really inconvenient to have one match played in Pakistan and the next match played in Sri Lanka and the match after that again played in Pakistan. Of course, I am exaggerating a little but that is really inefficient in my opinion.

Asia Cup is coming soon but not seeing any hype from the broadcasters, atm they are busy with useless bilateral series against Ireland. Guess we'll start seeing some promo during the Ireland series.

And 1 good news for Indian fans, there are some reports coming out that Rishab Pant played in a practice match, not sure about the field but he did come to bat.

The broadcasters doesn't seem happy about the tournament, and it is understandable. The schedule is messed up. Some of the matches are taking place in Pakistan, and some in Sri Lanka. And this just adds complexity to the logistics for broadcasters. On top of that, too many India vs Pakistan matches are scheduled to happen in the next few months (including one in the upcoming Asian Games cricket tournament). BTW, I don't know what India is going to achieve by playing against Ireland. It is going to be a completely one-sided series.
We can't expect this to be one-sided series. If it is an ODI series, then the matches could've been won by India, but with T20 matches played anything could happen. Even the Ireland players are good in chasing targets, against a team like India they'll give the best. T20 match results can change in no time and I believe Ireland will win atleast one match. This isn't going to be one-sided series.
Sometimes, while playing against weaker teams many strong teams suddenly conceded defeat. If India tries to win all the matches of the series then the chances of winning the series are more in their favor. But there is no denying your words. Because if some overs can be done well in T20 games then the result of the match can also be changed. Moreover, there are many records of weaker teams defeating stronger teams in T20 matches. No surprise if India lose one match in 3 match T20 series. But I think India will win every match in this series.

I was implying that senior players were missing from the Indian squad.
No, you were right. I misread it, my bad.

Aha, I doubt that. It's India A Emerging vs Ireland, not India vs Ireland so it won't be one-sided series. I'd be very surprised if it's a dud.

Well.. you can label the squad as India A or India Emerging, but officially it is the Indian senior team. Jasprit Bumrah got an opportunity to captain the team, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the deputy. Sanju Samson gets another opportunity despite repeated failures. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma will be hoping to continue with their good form with the bat. So will be Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar with the ball. India lost against West Indies due to the absence of senior players. But Ireland is so pathetic right now, that they would get defeated even by an Indian U-15 team.
Last time these 2 teams played against each other in Ireland. India barely won the 2 match series. 2nd match, in particular, was extremely tight so i won't underestimate Ireland. Back then too India sent an emerging team but they had in-form batters and Hooda played some blinders there.

Which senior Windies player was missing? Mayers, Pooran, Powell, Hetmyer, Holder, Alzarri etc all were playing. Unless you looking at the likes of Narine and Russell.

As far as India versus Ireland goes, I genuinely do not think that that has any chance to be honest. I have I am not saying that Ireland won’t be able to do anything. Every match in the series is probably not going to be absolutely one-sided. But I genuinely think that Ireland will not be able to even win one match. This is a three match T-20 series. If Ireland can even win one match, it is going to be a big achievement for them to be honest.

I am definitely going to say that India will be able to win the match against Ireland. I think the best that Ireland might be able to do is give a good fight to win the match. But I don’t see any chance for Ireland to actually be able to win the match against India. Reflecting back on the recent one-day series, it is true that Ireland displayed moments of commendable performance against India. But in the T-20 format I don’t have much hope from them.
Agreed. They already got embarassed thanks to their losses against a weak Windies side recently which is why they definitely cannot afford more embarassment frankly speaking.

The new players need to step up their game if they wish to cement their respective spots in international formats.

I was implying that senior players were missing from the Indian squad. You are mentioning about the Indian tour of Ireland in 2022, right? The second match was really tight. India put up a massive total of 225/7 in 20 overs and then got overconfident (Deepak Hooda scored 104 from just 57 balls). But Ireland gave them a major scare and lost the match by just 4 runs. The opening partnership between Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie added 72 runs in just 5.3 overs, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and Harshal Patel leaked more than 10 runs per over. But this time, the Indian bowling attack is much better.

Well.. I am skeptical about Ireland's chances. They have the home advantage for sure, as the matches are taking place at the Malahide ground in Dublin. But Ireland's recent form has been disappointing. In fact, they have performed below par ever since they were awarded the test status in 2019. One player who can make a difference is Josh Little. He has been a regular feature in T20 leagues around the world and he can trouble Indian batsmen at home. And the Irish batsmen need to think about how to handle Jasprit Bumrah, who is making a comeback in this series.

Even though India somehow managed to lose against West Indies in the last T-20 series, I don’t think they will make the same mistake with Ireland.

Asia Cup will start from 30 August 2023. But before that we have a series of 3 ODI matches between Afghanistan vs Pakistan which will be started from 22 August. As we all know that Inzmam ul Haqq selected a new squad and they will show their performance in this series. Waiting for this series. And today we are celebrating our Independence day. Smiley
Pakistan has mainly organized such a series to test their mettle against Afghanistan and prepare well for the Asia Cup. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan will be playing in the Asia Cup so their bilateral series before the Asia Cup will undoubtedly fill their lack of preparation.

The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan begins on August 22, but after this series, Pakistan and Afghanistan will not have time to prepare separately for the Asia Cup, so a match against each other will be the best preparation for the two teams.
The Asia Cup is good news for cricket lovers after the three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan ends.
Pakistan is just 3 wins away from becoming the number 1 ranked ODI team and the next three matches are against Afghanistan before the Asia Cup. Pakistan vs Afghanistan ODI series schedule all matches are playing at Sirlinka Ground in Hambantota and Colombo Cricket Stadium.

1st ODI - 22nd August at Hambantota.
2nd ODI - 24th August at Hambantota.
3rd ODI - 26th August at Colombo.

I think its a Massive series for both the teams Pakistan vs Afghanistan to prepare and find the right combination ahead of the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023. Pakistan is a favourite for this series because World No 1 Batsmen Babar Azam is the Captain of the Pakistan Team and the best Fast bowlers in the world are included in the Squad. Pakistan will these matches are Go to Asia Cup and World Cup as No 1 Ranked ODI team in the World. Best of luck

Guess uncertainty around the tournament and participation of teams added more headaches to this. They should be happy tho, as far as I understand it should be Diwali time for them and they must milk it.

Since it is T20 then it can be competitive but India does have a good side and they will be struggling against the returning Jasprit Bumrah and really curious how he will be performing after a long gap.

Wish Rinku Singh will get a chance to make his debut as he is deserving to be in the team and hopefully Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal continue with their impressive form in this series as well.
