Good to hear that Josh Little is back to the Indian Premier League. Ireland management need to understand that IPL stints can be life-changing for their players. They asked Little to join their squad while the IPL was still on, and it cost him around $150,000 (a wild guess, given his contract value is around $536,000). And even with Little present in their squad, they failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup through the direct route. In the end, Little's presence didn't had much of an impact, although the player himself suffered financially.

These days boards are preferring IPL over national duties. We saw recently new zealand board sending team to Pakistan without key players who were busy in IPL. Its because IPL gave money not only to players but to there respective boards too. Josh little alone can't do anything, if the team is struggling in both batting and bowling department.

Maybe, to me it doesn't look like the overconfidence. It looked like lack of experience, if not surely they could've won atleast the third match after coming this closer. They had a plan, on execution they failed. Playing few more series against top teams will make them progress well and learn how to handle similar match situations. Already the Gujarat Titans team manager Vikram Solanki have confirmed about Joshua Little back to the team after the Bangladesh series.

I don't think we can actually blame Josh Little. He did what he was supposed to. He put his duty towards his national team head of money. And I really like that decision from him. I know it did not matter too much in the end because they could not win any matches. But I would still say that he did the right thing.

At least Ireland did try very well to win. Even in the last match, Ireland performed really well. It was actually a lack of experience from Ireland. Otherwise, I don't see how Bangladesh should have won the last match. The actual sad part for the player is that he had to face a lot of financial penalties but he couldn't do much against Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
Today these two teams are playing an unofficial first ODI. In this match Zimbabwe team set the target of 235 runs for Pakistan team. Pakistan is still playing its turn and made 142 runs in 33 overs and gave 5 wickets. For Pakistan it is looking little difficult to win this match because they have already lost 5 wickets and now they needs 88 runs on 96 balls. Let see who will win. Smiley

Pakistan A team was unable to win the match. If I am being honest I was a little surprised to see the result of this match. I thought Pakistan A team is going to win the match. Sadly that did not happen. Zimbabwe A team was able to win. Zimbabwe actually performed well in the bowling department. They did well to restrict Pakistan from trying to get to the total. The batting of Pakistan was certainly questionable. But in one department I thought Pakistan should have done a lot better the bowling. But I have to say Pakistan actually failed to amaze.

I think 235 runs was not a big target for Pakistan A team. Pakistan A cricket team could have won this match against Zimbabwe A cricket team if the top order and last order batting performance of Pakistan A cricket team could have done a bit better. Two openers of the Pakistan cricket team played unexpected games. All Pakistan cricket team players except Kamran Ghulam, Haseebullah Khan, and Mubasir Khan played unexpected games. On the other hand, Zimbabwe A cricket team players have performed well in both batting and bowling. In today's match, Zimbabwe A won against Pakistan A by 24 runs. Congratulations to Zimbabwe cricket team.

Ireland was still dreaming that they will be able to win the series 3-0 and thereby gain direct qualification to the ODI world cup. And in reality, they lost the series 0-2. They asked Josh Little to participate in this series (he was playing in the IPL for Gujarat Titans), and this resulted in huge monetary losses for him. They need to introspect the reason for poor performance ever since they got the test status in 2019. Now they are receiving good funding from the ICC, when compared to other associate nations such as Scotland and Namibia ($5 million per year for 2019-23, and $18 million per year for 2024-27).

I would say they somehow got overconfident after the test match against Bangladesh. They thought that Bangladesh would be vulnerable in their home ground. What happened was just the opposite. The first match got cancelled due to rain. In the second match, they had zero idea on how to stop Bangladesh's batters. In the third match, they fought well, but that was not enough.

@Sithara007 I agree with @elevates that Ireland player’s were overconfident and they totally failed to implement their game plan against Bangladesh. Furthermore I was surprised to see that Josh agreed to leave IPL to play an international series but he’ll be back now however I doubt that he’ll be selected because it seems that GT have a nice winning playing 11 and I’m not sure if they’ll want to tweak it to accommodate him.

^^^ Among this list, it is Trent Boult who stands out. New Zealand has at least half a dozen quality pacers, including Southee, Jamieson, Milne, Henry and Wagner. Despite all that, Boult constantly tops their bowling charts. In case of Sandeep Lamichhane and Rashid Khan, it is mostly due to lack of competition from their own team. The same can be said about Mustafizur as well. Other Bangladeshi pacers are not as the same level as him. And among the five bowlers in this list, Rashid and Sandeep are the only youngsters (i.e less than 25 years old).
The five bowlers who have made the list have great bowling variants. But surprisingly, out of this list of five, two are leg spinners.

Rashid Khan's balls are still not well understood by the batsmen. This Afghanistan all-rounder bowls exceptionally well.
Sandeep Lamichhane has some great spin although he doesn't have as much variety as Rashid Khan but I have seen many batsmen get beaten by him in the time he has played in the IPL. Sandeep Lamichhane is ranked number 2 in this list because of the weaker teams he has played in.
Mustafizur Rahman has a great cutter in his bowling which usually defeats the batsmen.
And the remaining two on the list are world class bowlers who are as good at swing and yorkers as they are with their bowling pace. These qualities may be why they are on the top five list.

Mustafizur Rahman has set a new solo record by playing just one match in the Ireland series. Mustafizur Rahman has taken four or more wickets in an ODI innings 10 times since his ODI debut. After Mustafizur's debut, Trent Boult and Sandeep Lamichane have taken 4 wickets in an innings more than 11 times. The players who are on the list of most four-wicket takers so far are,

The Irish team would be playing against England in a one-off test match in the month of June. Being neighbors and political rivals, this test match would be a good one, I feel.

We have good fight in both ODI from the Ireland which is good sign for team which is new and trying to have good impact on their performance, but this is not easy because it needs more practice and good number of matches which will bring good quality and spirit of fight for them as well.
Not even the Ireland team. Every team needs more practice. Because if any team don't has the experience or good practice so it can't defeat to anyone. Like in these two matches we saw that how the Ireland team played well. But on the other hand Bangladesh looking more strong as compare to Ireland team. Therefore Bangladesh team won the match, Ireland team made the matches though but Bangladesh team won that matches fortunately.
Bangladesh team's last match was dominated by the bowlers that's why Bangladesh team won the match. Moreover, Ireland is far behind Bangladesh in terms of experience. Ireland lost the match as they trailed by just 5 runs from the last match. If there was an experienced player in Ireland team the match would not have been lost by a narrow margin. But I think according to the position of Bangladesh team they should have done better.

There was a zero chance of Ireland defeating Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a good team in ODI cricket. They were excellent in the second match and okay in the last match, as per my understanding. While Ireland were playing at home and had a little advantage, I felt they were somewhat overconfident in the second match due to their performance in the Test series. When they realized Bangladesh is too good in ODI, they gave a good fight in the last match.

It was clear to me that Ireland wouldn't be able to defeat Bangladesh. That is why I did not view it as I, and almost everyone, is busy watching IPL.

Every ODI match of Ireland against Bangladesh was full of great competition especially they were restricted to 45 overs in the second ODI match where Ireland batted first and gave Bangladesh a target of 320 runs and in that match it was assumed that Bangladesh might lose but Bangladesh youngs team especially Nazmul Hasan Shanto scored a brilliant century to win the team, plays a big role in giving. In the third ODI with Bangladesh, Ireland's bowlers bowled brilliantly and forced Bangladesh to set a target of 274 runs with seven balls to spare. But in the third match, Mustafizur Rahman, one of the main tools of Bangladeshi bowlers, took four wickets for 44 runs and defeated the Ireland team by 5 runs. But one sad thing is the Super League of Ireland team through this series All chances of the game were gone and they were uncertain of the Super League play-offs.

Ireland could not prove themselves against Bangladesh in white ball cricket, they lost the opportunity. Although Ireland have the most Test experience in this team, they lost the ODI series 2–0 and the T20I series 2–1, and the team has lost all the three Test matches Ireland have played so far in the last five years. Bangladesh played attacking cricket in every match except the last match in the white ball series. Bangladesh set new records in every match.
Right The final ODI match of this series was an enthralling contest with the outcome hanging in the balance until the last ball. Ireland showcased their potential to dominate the opposition boasting a formidable lineup of power hitters but that cannot chasing down the target 275. But the Bangladeshi bowlers M. Rahim picked crucial 4wickets and hasan mahmud picked 2 wickets and shattered their hopes with their exceptional bowling skills. Despite the loss Ireland fought valiantly and came agonizingly close falling just 5 runs short of victory. In the match both triumphs and defeats are inherent and it is important to acknowledge the outstanding performance of Bangladesh before the world 2023. The player of the series is Najmul Hossain Shanto for his amazing batting performance.

In these both ODI we have good fight, and they lost narrowly which is also good because Bangladesh is also now having good experience and can fight hard until last ball which is surely going to have good results for them in near future as well now it's all on ICC how they manage to create more opportunities for these teams to have more international matches and improve their quality level which create good entertainment for cricket fans in future.

I don't know whether this is a good excuse for the pathetic performance from Ireland in recent times. Before they received their test status in 2019, they used to perform much better. They were able to defeat teams like England and West Indies on a regular basis. But that was when they had awesome players such as Kevin O'Brien, William Porterfield, Tim Murtagh, Boyd Rankin, Ed Joyce and Niall O'Brien. Once these players retired, their performance deteriorated. Among the younger players, only Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector have shown some promise. All the others are there just to make up the numbers.

In terms of experience, there wasn't much difference between Ireland and Bangladesh. Ireland had included most of their senior players, including Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, Josh Little and Andy McBrine. The way they lost the two ODI matches was disappointing. In both the matches, they were in winning position, and lost out in the final overs. Team bonding and understanding was missing in their performance, while Bangladesh worked together as a team perfectly. Anyway, they have one more chance to qualify for the ODI World Cup in June this year, and they should work hard for that.
