What surprised me is that many players on that list have not played any cricket but still get retained. If you want to pay players then pay on the basis of their performance and not on the basis of their celebrity status.

For example - Japsrit Bhumrah has been out of any form of cricket for quite some time but he still gets retained on grade A+. The same is for Rishabh Pant he is in grade A and most probably he won't be playing any form of cricket for the next year or two minimum. Whereas KL Rahul got downgraded for his pathetic performance to grade B. Doesn't it look like favoritism to you guys?

Maybe management thinks that Bumrah and Pant are MVP players for India and they are not wrong in their assessment if we look at their performances. So backing them atm makes sense despite they are out of the action.

KL Rahul being downgraded is actually quite good, if you are not performing then it's bound to happen (Dropped from T-20, Tests and lost the VC).

I didn't think UAE would get to the 260 that they got. Especially after them losing wickets early. But it was of course a great performance from them to actually get to the 260 that they have got. I am actually a little surprised to see Papua New Guinea play so well in the second innings. They have already got 168 at the loss of five wickets. And only 28.1 overs have been played. They need less than 4 runs per over now. With 5 wickets in hand that is very much achievable, I think.

There are two ODIs going on at the moment as part of ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off. Canada is playing with Jersey (until now to my knowledge Jersey is a state in USA). After winning the toss Jersey decided to bowl fast and in 28th over half of Canada team is back to pavilion with just 128 runs on the board. Jersey will have a bright chance to win this game if they can limit Canada under 200.

Favoritism has been part of Indian cricket. I am not sure how the grading of players is done by BCCI but I do can see certain players on the list that have been chosen just because of their past records and contribution to Indian cricket. This might be another reason why many players tend to not retire. One thing I understood is that if someone gets into that list then we can assume they would be there for quite some time regardless of their performance.

Sri Lanka's team has weakened since the retirement of star players like Sangakkara and Malinga. They cannot find a suitable replacement. And yet their group is not stable. The team has several talented players. But no player's performance is stable. This is why they play well in one match and lose badly in the next match.
