@Sithara007 this is Australia’s tried and tested strategy and it has served them pretty well over the year’s, however with changing times they should introspect and take bolder steps if they want to continue to dominate in the ODI format.

Tried and tested strategy for sure. But I am not that much convinced that this strategy is working for them, especially when they are losing matches against teams such as Zimbabwe. When was the last time a 18-year old or a 19-year old made debut for Australia at national level? If I am not wrong, the last player to do that was Pat Cummins, when he debuted for Australia almost a decade ago. On the other hand, for Asian teams as well as for SENA nations such as South Africa, we frequently witness younger players making their international debut.

would you say that Australia is trying to create a team that will have a greater amount of experience rather than a team that has more talent?

in the past we have seen that the Australian team has done a very good job when they have a good amount of experience on board, but in this day and age where the players in every team have to be really quick and enthusiastic, is it really the best approach?

there is no doubt that the team needs some young players on it, i am quite sure they have caught enough players in the pipeline

No doubt match was full of entertainment but here is a matter of concern as well for Australian selectors because now their top order fail back to back two times and this can create problems for them in coming days with now they are trying to have a good unit for World Cup which is going to play in India, so they need to do much better changes for this event and have to replace few players with youths as well which can give them better performance in this format because Smith and Labuschagne both are going down badly and giving better performance in test matches instead of this format which is now looking for young blood with more energy and better skills for this format.

Cameron Green entry is very good for them, but they need to have two or three more players like this for their future plans and now giving few players rest just for test matches is also going to be good for long term plans.

Cameron Green should be given enough raises because he did really well in this match. In my opinion, Australia was on the verge of losing this match. But Green was there till the end. And that certainly helped Australia a lot. Alex Carey also played well. He and Cameron Green did the bulk of the runs. This match wouldn’t have been this much competitive at all if the top order of Australia did something good. They obviously did not do good enough work.

As you said, they have failed consistently to perform well. There are a lot of ICC tournaments coming up. The Australian selection board is going to have a headache about the opening prayer and also the top order of Australia.
Yes agree, if the top order batsmen could play a ordinary game then the lower players would not have a chance to play. They could have brought the match under control before that. But it was needed. Many may not know what Cameroon Green is. Moreover, the confidence of the management team has now increased. Because those are at the bottom are generally good at bowling. The way Cameron Green played, he showed himself as a mature cricketer.

The match was very entertaining. After New Zealand were set a target of just 233 I thought we might see dominance from the Australian players in this match. But the collection of the next 4 batsmen except for Australia opener David Warner was only 11 runs. Despite such a poor performance from the top order, the responsible performances of Alex Carey and Cameron Green helped Australia to win the match.

Australian management has a habit of retaining players despite repeated failures. When they give chances to youngsters such as Cam Green, they are able to perform. But in both batting and bowling, the selectors seem to be reluctant to induct new blood. Some of the players who have performed exceptionally well in the Sheffield Shield are getting ignored for national team selection. Henry Hunt, Caleb Jewell and Tim Ward are some of the promising batsmen who have shown their skills. Among the bowlers, they have Matthew Kuhnemann, Will Sutherland, Mitchell Perry, Mark Steketee, Nathan McAndrew and Lance Morris. There is nothing wrong in giving a few chances to these guys.

Cricket management or the selectors feel that the former players who are more experience and will be better suited to hold the match in any situation. . But what young people are capable of doing is often overlooked. Cameron Green is basically a Australian bowling allrounder who got to play only 11 ODI matches in his career. Last  His performance in the last Australia-New Zealand match impressed the cricket community.

@GigaBit that’s cause it worked well for them in the past like I said, but if they don’t select player’s like Green on a regular basis then they’ll risk upsetting their fans and thus I hope that they start selecting player’s on their current performances, and not stick to their old method of selecting player’s based on their experience even when they’re underperforming .

Oh... boy.. Australia is in deep shit. They were chasing such a small target and still Trent Boult and Matt Henry managed to destroy the top and middle order. Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are once again proving that limited overs cricket is not exactly their stronghold. Lockie Ferguson is yet to bowl a single over and Australia has already lost half of their wickets. And this is a surface which was considered as one of the most spin-friendly tracks in Australia (Cazaly's Stadium, Cairns).
Australia made a great comeback with their 6th wicket partnership and won the match. They lost their first five batsmen in just 44 runs. Alex Carey and Cameron Green has made 158 runs partnership which was unexpected. The batting performance of Cameron Green have surprised me most. Although Australia was losing the track again after the fall of 6th wicket, but they have managed to get the victory with two wickets.
Enjoyed a great match. Where the beginning was disappointing. Australia's top order batsmen could not score more runs. I thought they might not be able to return to the match. But at the end, Alex Carey and Cameron Green made a partnership that really blew us away. While Alex Carey scored 85 runs Cameron Green remained unbeaten with 89 runs. I think Australia winning such match will grow their confidence more.

New Zealand V Australia

Australia won the toss and decided to field in the first ODI match between New Zealand and Australia. New Zealand scored only 77 runs in 20 overs. They scored an average of 3.8 runs per over. Martin Guptil `19 got out after collecting only 6 runs. New Zealand batsmen need to bat more responsibly. Otherwise, they will not be able to collect even 250 runs.

Jose Hazlewood bowled 4 overs and conceded just 7 runs. Adam Zampa gave only 5 runs in 3 overs. Australia's bowler's performance is very good today. Maybe the pitch is bowling friendly. I am betting on Australia to win this match.
The current score is 191/6 and 44 overs have already been bowled. If the fireworks do not start now then NZ will not be able to score 250 plus runs. This match is being entirely dominated by the Australian side at the moment. I am expecting a target of 220 or 240 runs by the NZ side which according to me won't be a problem for the Australian batters.

New Zealand's top-order batsmen batted very slowly. No New Zealand batsman scored more than 100 on the night. Conway and Williamson's striker night was 67 and 63 respectively. If they could have batted with some responsibility they would have been able to give a big target.

Moreover, New Zealand's bowlers bowled very well at the beginning of Australia's innings. But the pair of Alex Carey and Cameroon Green failed to break them. Australia was able to win only with the help of the batting performance of the two batsmen.

I never imagined that Australia would win this match after losing the first 5 experienced batsmen for just 44 runs. It was incredible. Alex Carey and Cameron Green's partnership was phenomenal. They managed to collect 85 and 89 runs respectively. Australia won this match because of this 154 run partnership.
It is well understood that the pitch is bowling friendly. However, the batting of the New Zealand players was very slow at the beginning of the innings. If they could have batted a little better and set a target of around 300 runs, they could have won this match.

Australia needs 16 runs in 42 balls. That is quite achievable. But the problem is they only have two wickets in hand.  Green is still in the middle. So if Adam Zampa can hold on to his wicket, Australia should have an easy victory over New Zealand in this match. But it is easier said than done.
A very nervy win by Australia as they lost top five batsmen on just 44 while they were chasing target of 232 a serious matter of concern for them as their top order fail in last two matches they have to check their mistakes and need to bring better players those can perform better in these situations. Green is going to be golden boy for them as this youngster is achieving many good things which can bring him to the top of this game New Zealand's batting done much better in these conditions but still need more improvement as now we have short time in ODI World Cup.

Kane Williamson improving his performance but need some more from him as leader new batsmen are also doing good for them but still they are having gape which happen after retirement of Rose Taylor.

So officially Australia has qualified for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Now they have 100 points from 16 matches. The top 7 teams have 100 points or greater and they have qualified for the world cup. The 8th slot is still open, and as of now West Indies with 88 points has the highest chance. Ireland need to win two out of their three matches to overtake them. For Sri Lanka, 3 wins are needed from 6 matches. If there are no surprises, then West Indies should qualify as the 8th team, and Sri Lanka and South Africa should play the qualifiers.

Australia scored just 216 runs in 42 overs which was fucking  shit run. But New Zealand scored 232 runs after playing 50 overs.  So in that respect Australia is leading and now Australia need only 16 runs and they have 42 balls in hand so I think this match can be won by Australia.

Yes they have two wickets in their hands now which is a challenge for them but since they need only 4 runs now I think they can hold their wicket for this run and they can easily complete this run and win. So I think Australia will win today 100% he he
Enjoyed the game a lot, both teams played a very competitive game. Cameron Green and Alex Carey put in excellent performances as Australia secured victory with 30 balls to spare. If the New Zealanders' bowlers did a little better, they could have secured the victory.
