Taking bitcoin mining to everybody
June 20, 2013, 12:26:06 AM
Just ordered additional 20,000 chips from Avalon. Orders that would not be covered by the first batch, would certainly be covered by these chips.

BitSyncom is going to get the chips produced in bulk from the foundry. We believe that all the orders will be shipped by Avalon in close proximity to each other. So, hopefully, the chips ordered today will be shipped at most a week or two after the ships we ordered on May 10 and 16. In that case, our batch 2 orders will start shipping at most 2 weeks after the batch 1.

This is clearly not what we discussed. Terrahash contact us ASAP.

You know that there are close to a million chips already ordered, don't you?  Here is the address where Avalon is holding the BTC

https://blockchain.info/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU

Do the math yourself on number of chips in 76,000 BTC.

The order placed today will ship at most a week or two after the ships we ordered on May 10 and 16?  That's some seriously fast production.

....

His competitors are numerous, and my competitors, as well as your competitors are each and everyone that ordered one of these and any other ASIC. The best way to make money in that is not to participate in the arms race, but to sell and resell the arms.

Thanks for that and BG I was not trying to pick on you specifically, just stating my opinion on the idea in general.  That's still allowed, right?  Grin  Spend your money however you want.

I called them on the phone today. Seemed very optimistic.

The chip thing is really no big deal. They have ordered enough chips to finish all orders. by the time they have the first batch shipped the new chips will already be there. Shouldn't be that much of a delay. Said my order would probably be in the first batch and I have a higher number than most. Grin

what is your order number ?

Lets not speculate on order numbers.  Their could be other factors like Date Registered on their site. Cancelled orders. No Pays.  Etc.

Come on. Who here also has a assembly-only order like me? I think all of the discussion currently concern about orders using terrahash chip. We need to make sure that Terrahash would be able to ship assembly order before others if we provide the chip earlier. I message terrahash and also post in this thread but so far no reply.

Your kidding right? They couldnt have fucked this up anymore if they tried, silent treatment on the day of pre-orders, not forthcoming with their chip order information and potentially lieing about their second chip order, has any proof of that come out yet? paypal issues, the issue with cloudhashing, they are fucking ametures and are now hidding. they barely had the decentcy to reply yesterday when everything wnt south.

Let's break it down a bit.

Silent treatment on the day of pre-orders,

I emailed the link off their site and received a response the day before the "accounts before Friday".  I suspect others emailed and got a response as well.  Silent treatment is defined as not posting information on this web forum?  They did post the day of the preorders and addressed a couple issues.  It wasn't radio silence.

They posted a screen shot of their 10k order.  With their residential shipping address included on the screen shot!

Quote
paypal issues,
They expected that, and a good many paypal orders went through, including mine.

Quote
the issue with cloudhashing,
Yeah... and they've been transparent about that too.

I don't agree necessarily about the hiding part.  Maybe amateurs, but amateurs with a working prototype and design.  More than I can say for BFL when they took in money.  They took in money with an idea and a few resources and built their platform from scratch; hence why it took nearly a year to deliver the product.

Everything didn't go south.  They had many forms of acceptable payment; part of being a good business person.  Paypal didn't work that great after a while, but I'm sure they'll resolve the issues.

Sorry I don't agree with your position.  I can see where you might be coming from... but I'm sure they're under a great deal of stress right now trying to line everything up so this process runs smoothly.  I can only imagine what their inbox and PM list looks like right now.  Managing expectations is the key factor to a successful project like this.  Something BFL really shit the bed on...  This "two weeks" shit from BFL is exactly what I'm talking about.

I guess what I'm saying is give these guys a chance to be successful.  Much of what you posted was conjecture based on assumptions.

besides its seems pretty obvious what actually happenned.
Terrahash had a big customer that they bought the chips for, but when there actual completion day lagged a month the buyer backed out, and terrahash needed new buyers fast..  So here we are filling in the early 20000 or maybe 10000 chip order... the rest of the people who lend up in the second batch are the new big investers that will help terrahash keep things going in the future.

Am I mad  not really, im right on the verge of getting 256 g/h that i probably wouldnt have even been able to order until after the chips came in.  If I dont get in the first group i may or may not sit around hoping that things will go smoothly.

but remember it was only 2 weeks ago that the thought of having a prebuilt klondike 16 was still a pipedream.

I do think that terrahash should remove all those doubledipping capitalists who had no faith in terrahash to start, and havent dropped a dime of there own cash and allow the buyers who are sponsering the next chip buy to be bumped up the line.

on another note remember that if you are out there paying a premium for someone elses quick fingers, remember the reason they are selling is that they do not believe that holding onto there product will make them money, and that before the hype of sales nyumbers happenned you didnt believe in terrahash enough to get on the comp at 9 am.

I think they did a good job.

They took care of the potential problem with people hoarding and scalping pre-orders.
They have been very communicative, even while they are busy handling orders.
Their ordering process allowed fair order placement even for those who were paying via bank transfer.
They have been replying to emails and phone calls right away and have shown more transparency than most businesses.

We just love to nitpick every tiny detail which makes it look like they are, or could be messing thing up.

well.. he had 20k chip already on order , people pre order a ton of chips yesterday , so today = Reorder to fullfill all the preorder that they got in ... thats sounds good to me
Reorders today would mean 2 months waiting for the 2nd batch.  (I hope we don't get bfl'd Smiley

BFL burned a good many of us..  but they took nearly 10 months worth of "two weeks" to ship.. orders that were expected to ship 90 days from the time of order.

I have high hopes for this venture.  They've been transparent about their position and have a working prototype product.  Pictures of their office space and some firmware programmers.  It's clear they're not here to rip us off, and have good intentions on making good on their promises.  Time will tell, but I have high hopes and a better gut feeling about this than I did with BFL.

Dude you can only build 15 2/3 fully loaded 180Gh/s DXs per 10,000 chips!!

20K chips is a fair amount to start their process, they don't need 100K chips on hand to get units out after all.  They have also stated that one should expect a 2 week lead time from when they receive chips to delivery (or maybe it was shipping).

Keep in mind that TH stated their largest order was for 2 DX's, and that was the only one...so I actually feel like they are ok since it'll take some time to get chips soldered and out the door once they have them.  We'll see with the email tomorrow, but I'm feeling pretty good about TH at the moment.

I think now, just as I did a few days ago, that many people were too skittish due to TH's strange behavior the past few days/weeks to put a big $10K + order in...that leads me to believe that they can stretch out those 10,000 or 20,000 chips.
