P2Pmining is currently the largest miner on P2Pool.
Is there some way you could set a static share difficulty or maybe just a higher dynamic difficulty based on your pool's overall hashrate? You could probably get away with 3000 difficulty shares at least.

You can set share difficulty to what ever you want.  If you want 3000 share difficulty just add +3000 to the end off your bitcoin-address-username.  When you submit a 3000 difficulty share, it would be the same as if you submitted 3000 difficulty 1 shares.  You will see more variance in your stats with higher difficulty shares, but it all works out the same in the end.  I haven't tried experimenting with much higher difficulty to see if I get a smaller DOA rate.

I recently upgraded to the newest p2pool code.  Others are reporting lower DOA rate with the new changes. We shale see.

I just pointed my 2.2g/h to this.  (four 5870s, one 7970.)

Looks great, thanks!

Also, just a note to anyone else who might be reading this.

I couldn't get the signatures to work for binding my namecoin address to bitcoin.  I then saw the latest bitcoin client is 0.6.2, and I was on 0.5.something.  I upgraded, and now the GUI client has an option to sign.  I used that to sign, and voila, it worked.

Thanks for the tips, I updated my conf file as well as updated cgminer (didn't even know there was an update). I shall watch the results and post them after a bit.

Since i have the lowest DOA rate on the top 10 miner on p2pmining.com in the last 24hrs Here are my setting.
--auto-fan --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 750-950 --gpu-memclock 300 -g 1 -Q 0 -v 2 -w 128
I also have 4 other p2pools as backup and a bitcoin client with 42 active connections and intensity set to dynamic.
Using Cgminer 2.4.0.

If you don't have 5800 or 5900 series cards then gpu-engine and gpu-memclock will require different optimal settings.
I think setting specific values for gpu-engine and gpu-memclock may decrease stales. I've set gpu-memclock to 250 and there is a small improvement.

I have my 6850 at 918GPU and 300Mem.

So suddenly I'm having a huge stale rate at like at-least 70%. Cgminer shows it's trying to longpoll continuously but if I switch to another pool then it works fine. I'm confused.

p2pool longpolls every 10s or so, that part is normal. What settings are you using in cgminer?

My DOA rate for the last 24hrs is 3.4%.

I upgraded to cgminer 2.4.0 added 3 more p2pool backup servers, and I'm @4.2% DOA in the last 24hrs. I think its preventing higher DOA % by polling other servers looking for new blocks.I think Running multiple pools, bitcoin with more than 8 connections. I'm also running -g 1 and -Q 0. Another nice feature is if cgminer detects 12 share rejects in a row, it switches pools for a set period of time. I did notice one small bug, it said another pool accepted 1 shares but when i went into pool management it didn't show it had.

Ah that makes sense, I didn't have other p2pool nodes as backup servers, I had bitparking. I was getting ~20% DOA with it.

Interesting sidenote for cgminer users, having a backup pool (failover or etc) seems to greatly increase shares that are DOA.

I'm in kinda the same boat, I was in the process of moving my mining boxes. So I only had half of my boxes online yesterday.
But I do want to say, Great job to the website. It looks great, I love all the new features.

Of course, as soon as I switch to another pool due to P2Pool luck there is 7 blocks in a day, ah hell.

SQL is fun

Your love for it shows. I generally prefer to break up statements like this into a few separate queries and use the scripting language running the whole thing to glue the results together. I think it's much easier to read and maintain that way but that's me.

I just started with the pool a couple days ago and I'm sorry if this is already answered but...how long after a block is confirmed do payouts go out? Also how does it work when I was only mining for some of the time during the first round?

Finally, how do you mix the altcoin dividends into the payments? Do you sell them periodically?

Thanks for this neat form of pool.

After a block is confirmed 120 times your reward is available for payout.  After your balance is greater than 0.5 then it is automatically paid.  You can do an instant payout any time by signing a short message with your bitcoin address and submitting the signature.

Alt coins are split between the miners who have registered there alt coin addresses.  The way the alt coins are paid out is the same as bitcoins.

This pool is PPLNS with a 24 hr history.  That means any shares submitted in the last 24hrs when a block is found are used when calculating the reward. This prevents pool hoppers from gaining an unfair advantage.

Thanks for trying my pool!
