My 2x U1 are performing fine. Both locally and Eligius are above 4 GH/s with the 981 setting for long averages. But going a little up and down.
No hardware errors or one in 10.000.
a81 fails completely on one. Many errors on the other.

solo mining is covered in README
cool I will go read it again thank ya

Hi
I set up solo mining a while ago using GUIminer. There was a good guide in GUIminer on solo setup.
Then when I want to solo mine I use the GUIminer solo mining control to start bitcoin-qt in server mode.

My solo batch file is then:-

bfgminer.exe -o http://localhost:8332 -O mylocalname:mylocalpassword -S erupter:all --coinbase-addr xxxxxyyyyyyyyyzzzzzzzzzz --coinbase-sig "rig1: This is My Block!"

There is probably a quicker way these days, but this still works.

EDIT:-  Multiminer can probably do a good job as well.

You can definitely OC the U1's.  Check out the Tips and Tricks section here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitmain-antminer-u1-tips-tricks-390929 for U1's.  Also, make sure if you OC them that you have ample cooling...those little suckers get hot enough to boil water...

I've mine running at x0A81 (2.2GH rated) which gives between 2.05 and 2.15GH with no errors.  Only cooling I have it the hub sitting against the fan side of the PSU that runs most of my mining gear.  It's basically just a breeze, but it's enough.  They run off an aluminium Anker 10-port powered by ATX.

VLC Media has decided it owns the right to "always open with" my .bin file does this make any difference?

the same line works fine for pools but cannot get solo working, have tried on a few coins that work on cgminer, but I much prefer bfgminer so would like to be able to use it instead. I have seen others successfull in solo with bfg so figure I am missing something obvious...

I am having difficulty setting up solo mining on bfgminer, using settings that work fine solo mining on cgminer etc. I have tried with several coins, I can pool mine fine on bfgminer or with multiminer but any attempt to solo mine has been fruitless (returns pool or password error thing)  Does anyone else have this problem, or has anyone found a way? Maybe I am missing something simple.

There are also the HeatHolders on Amazon.  I wear those as they are toasty with grip on the bottom.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0093FXMFI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1R1YG4M428IBB&coliid=I3389BU0AWTCL6

They are great even when it was -40f two nights in a row.

They're awesome.  most guys are afraid of wearing them, but not me.  I'll admit to being a little off, but that's what makes me awesome  Wink

I was serious - it's 0C outside atm. I want your socks.

Amazon...hit it up!

I've got a couple of setups running bfgminer 3.10.0.  One has three Antminer U1s on it, the other has a Red Fury.  Both work fine, but I've noticed something and am wondering if anyone can offer an explanation.

The Red Fury has a raw hashrate of 2.34GHz, and an effective one of 2.25GHz - an efficiency of about 96%.

The U1s have a raw hashrate of 1.97GHz, and an effective rate of 1.57GHz - 79%.

Is this something that I'm just stuck with, or is there some way to improve on this?  Both are mining in the same pool (btcguild).

Also try the ant in a port on hub by itself no other sticks or hubs runnin. it may be power related, easy to check

Your numbers are correct if you are not OCing the U1. 1.6 Gh/s is what they are advertised at. As far as the current / average hashrate, they jump all over the place for the U1 in my experience. In addition, the current & average hashrates ar "estimated" for Icarus-based devices while the 3rd number is "real" based on actual work done.
But that's the thing - I am OCing the U1s - they're running at 2GHz (they were originally at 1.6), but only giving effective rates of 1.6 - so that appears to be the work that is being done.

Try this for your batch file:-

bfgminer.exe  --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 --icarus-options 115200:2:2 --no-submit-stale -o http://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -O worker:pasword -S antminer:all

Edit

5sec average 2.28    all time average 2.24   pool average 1.99
